Who's Drew Oller?
One thing this game showed is just how crazy the James Franklin haters are. When PSU was down at half, they were all saying this proves Franklin can't "win the big one." After the win, the same people were saying, "well USC wasn't really a big game." As a Penn State grad, I've certainly been frustrated with our struggles against Michigan and Ohio State, but I also think Franklin doesn't deserve all the flack he gets
as a penn state grad, I've been bored the last few years because i knew in september we'd go 10-2 and the only game that mattered was the bowl game.
This was easily the most fun I've had watching penn state since the 2017 when we really thought we'd be back to back big10 champs.
lol and then refs got the call and needed to screw USC over any chance they got. This isn’t about James Franklin for once. It’s about money and the playoff and USC had all the odds stacked against them
Oh, Franklin "won" the game all right -- with a lot of help from the Big 10 officials.
Actually, congratulations should go to the Big 10 officials since they were the ones who really "won" the game. Franklin was only the recipient.
isn't he like 20-0 the last 2 years regular season against teams not named michigan and ohio state? this was a great game but ... that ohio state game better be circled on their calendar...that's the REAL litmus test
@@swisha317in all fairness, there were two defensive PIs that should have been called in OT. But Lincoln Riley totally blew it at the end of regulation with terrible clock management. Could have closed the game out there. Then they went out and missed the kick in OT. Can’t put everything on the refs.
I get the love for Warren, it's well deserved.
But the story of this game was Drew Allar. Last year, he came up small in the biggest games. That final TD of the fourth quarter was the entire reason you recruit a five star kid to lead your program.
I agree, he threw 3 TDs, one of which was of little to no significance and still looked like a different QB.
@@jsmity2007and he still got picked apart all game. Ohio is gonna destroy this kid
I think it's because Tyler Warren had probably one of the best games for a tight end in college football history. He went well above and beyond what his position is supposed to do. Drew Allar played great, but he didn't push boundaries like Tyler Warren did
@@null_reference 3 picks isn’t playing good dude. Nice try though allar is a pick merchant
@@Jrm-xs9qi You didn't watch the game lol.
Pate called it! PSU wins and USC covers in this prediction
Josh nailed his pick for this one, good win for Penn State
Tyler Warren needs to be in the conversation for the Heisman trophy.
LMAO yeah no.
@@Jrm-xs9qiI think....any sports writer would never have the argument that Tyler Warren is the best Tight End in the country, as long as that holds true, he at least gains respect in a slight conversation...after this game, theres no way Penn State won this game without Warren...when you have a caliber player who was 3 sport athlete in High school, and makes opposing defense schemes look like 9th graders, sorry, but yes, he deserves more than a slight conversation...but theres still a lot more football to determine if he should be a finalist
@@pctroner23 not happen the HB at Boise state is making Tyler Warren a joke. Tell me when he’s putting those numbers up against Ohio like the Boise state HB did against Oregon bc not happening like i said.
Not at all lol
This has to be a joke.
USC beat USC
Umm the USC recruiting is killer but if your a player going to Oregon means I get nil from Nike then a different jersey every year it kinda easy to recruit idk what u talking about
I kind of want Penn State to finally win the Big 10, have major doubts but a man can dream
They only stand a chance if they get the Big 10 refs on their side again. That's not likely to happen since they can only play USC once this year.
Many on Twitter have been saying college football is rigged & that USC-PSU game proved it. Not a good look for PSU.
I know right? Oregon and OSU on a neutral field would be interesting. But hey, still gotta see what Indiana can do in a big conference game. That being said, I don't think Indiana's defense can hold up (allowed 24 to NW and 28 to Maryland).
He did it once, he can do it again
It would be awesome, I don’t think they will, but it’s all on the table now. Getting OSU at home with a good enough roster to win. Just need some bounces for once
The secret of Oregon's recent success is 4 words, "Make check payable to.." USC will catch up to Nike University in NIL recruiting and performance in the next 2 years. Hopefully Riley will learn head coaching over the same time.
USC can’t let Oregon out recruit them anymore. I’ve been saying this for years.
Oregon football has the unconditional support of its university and its boosters. USC suits only support the team when it is convenient for them. For the most part, the university has kept the football program at arm's length since Pete left. This attitude gave Oregon the golden opportunity to come to SC territory and pick up the recruits. It would take a coach like Pete to correct the wrong. Riley is not that coach. But I tell you what, the defensive staff at USC has a lot of potential.
What’s amazing is SC couldn’t co cover a TE there is no excuse for him being open all day, but it happened and a couple years ago it happened for SC against Utah
@@lloydcady7231 Shame on Danton for not making adjustments, ridiculous. Dude was wide open all day.
@@tonychung857I'm not sure many teams practice covering the guy who snaps the ball lol.
Is drew allar the best penn state quarterback since Kerry Collins? I'm asking that based on what I believe he will be going forward. USC game was a game he needed for that next step. That 2nd 4th down play, that was Allar Adlib .. things broke down around him and he stayed composed and made the play. A play like that... his neurons grew dendrites and made new connections; and those connections are the confidence that he can do that in big moments. I can not express just how huge that is for a young guy like that. If he didn't know before, he knows now. Look out
I’ll take it a step further, Drew Allar is the most physically gifted quarterback to ever walk through that tunnel in a Penn State uniform. More than Collins, more than Trace, more than Blackledge.
Daryll Clark?
How do we define best? If you are talking about NFL prospects then probably yes. If we are talking success in college you’d have to bring Mcsorley into the conversation for now.
@@BLGClipsx I remember Daryl Clark, and I misjudged him. I recently watched those old games again and he was a lot better than I gave him credit for at the time.
@@teekay_1 he was also 2x first team all big 10 the two years he started. Highly slept on when he was playing
Wrong ! Oregon doesn’t take recruiting more seriously they have had a singular advantage called unlimited Nike $ for NIL
Oregon pays more to attract recruits. Dan isn’t special.
Man, I was feeling really bad about my USC +3.5 bet during that game 😂
Always nice when your team gets the mahomes treatment from the refs
Yeah, but U$C had some bad calls go against them as well.
So much for that East/west concept. Just like Syracuse beating UNLV, Minnesota beating UCLA, Miami/Cal, Cal/AUB, Stanford/Syracuse, VT/Stanford. Hawaii/Delaware St, Colorado/UCF. That East/West theory pretty much out the window.
You just got beat by Tyler Warren
Not sure if the recruiting comparison is a fair one. Despite Oregon having multiple coaching they have always been decent and trending up with talent. SC on the other hand, had Clay Helton which recruited nobody LR got the program in shambles compared to what Dan Lanning inherited.
Drew showed how clutch he is when he converted 2 4th down conversions in a row to force ot
5 challi classic crew unite
USC gifted the game to Penn by the poor clock management by the USC coach !!!
And the refs had to be pisst since they did all they could to give the win to USC. There were no holding calls allowed on the USC o'line. USC "finally" figgerd that out with 8 minutes left in the game... so they held on every single play afterwards.
CLR, a $10M a year coach, has been OUTCOACHED in the LOSES! Poor game management! We got beat on a tackle eligible play we ran in grammar school!!!
Warren is a beast and we are seeing now how Overrated Lincoln Riley is as a coach. You out rush and out TO Penn St and Lose, that’s On the Coach.
Felt like allar always played with the thought of don’t turn the ball over. That 4th quarter he stopped caring and played football
But Josh the USC coach develops Heisman Q/B’s….
doesn’t matter
He does, in fact this was a qb he didn’t hand pick but developed. If he had an even slightly better throwing qb that 4th quarter throw doesn’t go over Duce Robinsons head and you won’t comment. USC wins and you would’ve been salty. Keep hating
@@joshuagray5094 AND I will keep hating!
You PSU fans only see what you want to see, apparently.
These kinds of comments (below) were all over Twitter:
"I am a Michigan fan. I have zero rooting interest in Penn State or USC.
But I don't know how anyone could look at the two non-calls on PI that should have been called against Penn State in OT and NOT conclude that game was fixed. Blatant."
@@johngaltjkt62so sad lol
Penn State was completely irrelevant before James Franklin got there. Completely. Remember that Penn State fans. You now have a team that is consistently ranked in the top 10. Who cares if you haven't won a NC. 99% of the college football world would LOVE to be where you are right now.
The result in and of itself without context wouldn't have been to bad for USC going in, but they had this game won and let it slip away from them ... devastating. Notre Dame and @Washington will determine if their season gets a salvageable result, everything else has to be a win.
@@mathompson53187 Michigan, Minnesota, and now Penn State. All games that USC literally had full control to win all 3 games and should have. But poor coaching decisions cost us all 3 games. We have multiple issues to address, but despite those deficiencies, we still were in drivers seat to win all 3 games. This team will have no chance unless LR either changes his coaching strategy or we get a new HC. Our season is officially over, this is unacceptable. Feel bad for the players, they are playing their asses off. We are clearly in need of some deeper talent OL/DL, but still have been in position to easily be 6-0. Coaching staff has cost us 3 games.
Fight on!
Tyler Warren vs Travis Hunter for Heisman???
No
Told you last week USC was way too high in your power ratings, Josh.
And yes, I’d have come back to say I was wrong, had a miracle happened, and USC won an organized CFB game ✌️
Josh, I was with you until you said Oregon takes recruiting more seriously. They use Nike money to buy their talent. Terrible take
Gotta agree with you. Teams like Oregon, ohio state, Texas are supposed to be great every year. They are in their own league when it comes to NIL dollars. They can buy the best talent.
That's serious recruiting. They don't have to go out and spend money.
@@lvli044 which team are you referring to?
@@joshuagray5094 Oregon. What's not serious about investing in recruiting?
@@lvli044 you’re dense as hell. They have an endless amount of cash. Same as Texas, Ohio state. These schools poach the transfer portal and get whoever they want bc they out pay everyone else
Kind of disappointed in the Penn State receiving corp. I thought we would see a drastic improvement but so far through the season, does not seem to have improved by much. The receivers need to get open more.
Josh one has Phil knight who is literally writing check and the other doesn’t.
I wish I could say Michigan, minn, and psu were beating a well coached usc team. I can't. Not even close.
Fire Riley and get someone who knows how football is meant to be played.
How many 5 challi games until this year?
Uhh no PSU and OR are tied for 1
Josh…another bad game plan from Franklin where a star players and his OC bailed him out. Not sold on TimAllen as DC. Another game where the opponent sliced up the D for the first half.
And then out-scored USC 27-10 in the second half on the road. Tell the whole story.
Gah damn you want Franklin to go out and suit up?? 😂 he coached a comeback in a huge game, something that many PSU fans are not used to sooo Id say he did well enough lol
Penn St didn't beat USC.. they survived them.
Do you get a W, an L, or an S for surviving them?
Pretty impressive to go out there and come from 14 points back to win. Can't wait til the LA teams come to the midwest for sub freezing temps. They shoulda stayed in the pitiful Pac 12.
Pitifull Pac 12? This is a rebuild year for SC. That defense is getting better but is a couple years away from being elite and that OLine is a patch job. SC simply does not have that depth on either side of the line of scrimmage YET. Don't forget how SC historically smashed the Big teams. Now, if you look at all 3 loses, they where last minute losses. So it's not like they are getting blown out. The Big Refs have been terrible in all those losses as well. SC can be just as easy 6-0 as they are 3-3.
@@peterrodriguez3609 USC should have stayed in LA amongst the zombies in the piss-n-shit stained streets. That said, keep voting demon-crat, Cali! Keep the Zombie apocalypse in your back yard...not mine! Thank! You!! USC suuuux, so does UCLA, so does Wash. Like I said, shuda stayed in the Pac 12 if they wanted a shot at a conference championship and an easy path to the playoffs. This is the Big 10. Amurika's "premier" college football conference.
@J pitiful pac 12? what wheat farm are u on? 10 Natty’s for USC bro, 9 Heisman winners. Last time I checked PSU has 2 Natty’s? Understand your place in college football, don’t even deserve the right to talk shit.
Call the goddamm pass interferences on Penn st. and the game is over . SC wins
Dont call the bullshit OPI on PSU’s first drive, PSU scores a touchdown instead of a field goal and OT never happens. PSU wins
How about just terrible defense?
Coupled with play calling from someone trying not to lose, instead of trying to win.
The Lincoln Riley experience has been a complete disaster Usc has to fire him immediately after this Season.
Is everyone completely ignoring the blatantly missed calls by the refs. Those missed calls completely handed PSU the game. There fan base and coaches know it. Just aren’t saying shit….
They weren't missed calls they were consistent calls. They didn't call any of the PI on USC either.
The only PI they did call was on Fleming for being held by USC DB. It took a TD off the board and even if he was blocking, he wasn't, he was allowed to because the pass was behind the line of scrimmage.
And what do you want everyone to do about it? Missed calls happen literally every game of football played but yet we all keep watching! How about don’t blow a 20-6 lead at 1/2 time and those missed calls wouldn’t exist? USC just couldn’t close out, and tell me how tf they let a tight end (albeit the best in the country) tear up the defense like a 5 star receiver 😭
Funny how the Penn State fans aren't complaining about the non-calls against them, and for the TD that was taken from them in the first quarter. Only the U$C fans. Why is that?
@@sbrown4556 cause PSU didn’t lose. Every fanbase is critical of the refs and their missed calls when their team loses.
@@TheAlienvspredator3
I totally get it. I’m pissed at how we still blew a major lead at half. But, if you’ve been following usc the last 3 losses, it’s been extremely poor officiating that has gone totally against us. So I think usc fans have major right to be pissed at these officials. They even admitted they fucked up the Minnesota call at the end. They also missed multiple holding calls against Michigan. There’s a trend going on. How can we as passionate fans not call it out?
I didn't really care who won this game, but fun to watch. That clock management, or lack thereof, at the end. Some of the worst I have seen. Refs botched 2 no calls at the end as well.
You should see the botched calls in the first quarter. Went against both teams. I didn't see a TD reversed against U$C.
That TD got reversed because your receivers were blocking past the line of scrimmage. Calls didn’t go even close to both ways in regards of impact of determining the end result of the game @sbrown4556
We’ve been California dreaming, you see
It's funny the USC "fans" on social media blame the refs, they blame Penn State's Schedule, they blame everything except the coach and team. Anything to admit they are what their record says they are. A mediocre 3-3 who lost to.... Minnesota.
Lincoln Riley is proving to be overrated, Miller Moss choked at the end of the game, and their kicker (I don't name kickers) choked at the end of the game.
I get caught up in saying WTF , what the heck are you thinking coach and where's the PI call ref. It was a fun game at the Coliseum great fans and the kids played hard and gave their all. Close losses hurt the worst. Go Trojans Fight On ✌🏾
The ref had the better view.
Ohio St will beat PSU in Happy Valley and then beat Oregon in Indy

@@lorichet LOL. You're quoting a michigan fan as proof of something. That's precious.
OSU DL is mediocre in big games. No imagination. PSU is at home and Allar isn't playing not to make mistakes.
SC fans are tired of all the excuses, Riley has to go.
Penn State shouldn't even have a football program after what they allowed to go on years ago. We should never forget, since the victims never will.
Lincoln Riley is on his way out of USC
Tyler Warren and the refs..
What even is all this?….. simple, a huge rip-off where the refs apparently only had one job and that was to make sure USC didn’t win. Even tho it should have been a blow out by halftime…….
Some of the worst calls made in all of history happened in this game alone and that’s saying something. Sad to see what this sport has become all because a certain conference wants teams in the playoff$
Shame you need officials to help you win, instead of just letting the kids play.
@@sbrown4556 what? The officials were the problem that helped PSU win…..
Im a USC fan
You forgot to credit the refs.
I do. Thank you, refs, for finally not helping U$C win through phantom calls. Let the kids play. I give you total credit for showing U$C that when the refs don't help you, it's not such an easy game.
