  • In this video we look at the Tamiya wheel speed checker, I ramble on, then compare some engines.
    All of my videos are work and kid safe. Watch with confidence. : )
    (No race cars were harmed in the making of this video. However they might hurt feelings at the track.) 😜👍
    Enjoy The Show!

    Hey man, great video. Thank you for these videos! I'm having such a hard time find as much info as I wanted on Mini Zs, but I continue to find your videos useful. Thank you, and please keep them coming! Regarding everything, please!

      You are welcome Steven. I'm trying to pass on everything that I learned over the past year and a half. Other racers will generally help you and answer questions but you have to know what to ask. During several of my videos we find the answers together as I film.
      If there are any topics or questions that you would like me to address please send me a message. I read all of the comments and will reply. It might even be the subject of my next video.
      Practice is the greatest mod. Keep learning. How you drive is more important than what you drive.

    Man they really need to make a Mini Z dyno that hooks up to a Pc and does everything. That would be soo cool.

      Thank you. Keep in mind the PN70s may not rev as high but they seem to have more torque. My dyno has no means of measuring that.

    Just getting into Mini Zs and there are so many choices. In one of your videos you said you help build cars. How can I get in touch with you please? Thanks Robert

      I built cars for a while. I found out the time it takes to get everything optimized and tuned is more of a labor of love. It is not economically possible to do this for everyone.
      Each car requires different things to be right, even when they appear to be identical. The basics are universal but the fine tuning is individual. All five of my cars are fast and I can win on any day with any one but each has its own personality.
      The best bet if you want a car developed and tuned by me is to wait for me to sell one.

      Those are good numbers.. My best with an X-speed is 31. With a PN50 it was 37 km/h.

    • @EXPIOWA

      Stock MZ414 board. The MZ413 can't handle the 50T for long. It doesn't have the upgraded FETs. If you have the all black radio you are good. (KT-531)

    • @EXPIOWA

      Desconecte ambos ejes de transmisión y haga funcionar el motor para averiguar si la malla del piñón y del engranaje recto no está demasiado apretada.
      También gire cada eje de transmisión para asegurarse de que no se froten los componentes de la suspensión.

    Do yo recommend upgrade stock motor by...?
    a) Stock with 8T
    b) Stock with 9T
    c) PN70 With 8T
    d) PN70 with 8T
    e) PN50 with 8T
    f) PN50 with 9T
    g) VSpeed-X With 8T
    h) VSpeed-X With 9T
    Thanks! ;)

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fastest motor of the ones you listed is the PN70. An 8 tooth pinion is good. Try a 7 if you run on a small track.
      Then for top speed in descending order the X-speed, PN70, finally stock.
      The PN70 and Stock are about the same top speed for a given year but the PN70 has more torque so an 8 tooth works well on almost every size track. The stock motor likes a 7 on small tracks.

      @@EXPIOWA Do you recommend sold mr03 and go to amz?? I will need waste 100€ to make it more pro mr03...

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In one of you comments you asked if I recommend going to an AMZ. I do not have a lot of experience with Atomic products but if I was going to buy an exotic 1:28 scale car, I would get a GLR.
      The Atomic kits do not bolt together without modifying certain components right out of the box from what I have heard. I do not want to waste my time and effort on a car that I may need to reengineer just to put it together.

    • @Ruben3D

      @@EXPIOWA Yes, It is true! Is better GL Racing! But it is better GLR or GLA? And other question... when it is necessary change stock diff to ball diff? With 70PN or 50PN is it necessary change diff for rcp track? Thx a lot for your info!!! :)

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      GLA vs, GLR. For slick tracks the GLA is King according to a friend of mine who is a GL factory driver. For tracks with normal to high grip the GLR is preferable due to its lower CG and less tendency to traction roll. The GLR can also be easily switched between 98 and 102mm wheelbases. The GLA can not.
      As far as when to go from a stock diff, my answer may surprise you. Even up to a PN50T, I see no benefit in using a ball diff. It does not change my lap times at all. It could be my driving style or the way I set up my car. I have both but prefer the reliability, simplicity and light weight of the stock diff.
      I put a few drops of SLIP bearing oil on the spider gears. It operates very smoothly. For me it is perfect.
      I am interested in trying out the precision gear diff. I recently saw one at my local Hobby Town for $50. It looks awesome. To me it looks like the best of both worlds. I am still winning races without it so spending the money to try one has not been a priority. .
