It should also be noted that the Maglev train makes only one stop at Longyang Road subway terminal, which has three lines. Line 2 is the main line to downtown Pudong and Puxi stations such as Lujiazui and People’s Square.
If you have a connecting flight on this airport. Make sure you have at least 6 hours layover time minimum or just avoid this airport. You need to go thru immigration, customs, and re-check in your luggages 50 mins before boarding and immigration again on all connecting flights. If you are going to transfer to another terminal, the airport bus is available for every 20 mins.
Maglev is actually the option for fun only (and to boast you rode 430 km/h train). It doesn’t take you to the center, as it’s last stop is still suburbs. You will still need to get a cab there worth 70-90 rmb to get to any central destination.
Your channel is a terrific resource for first-time visitors to China, guys. Well done! What would you say is the best way to get to the Radisson Blu on Nanjing West Road, Huangpu, from the Pudong International airport?
@@ChinaDIYTravel, thanks for your response. I am a huge train enthusiast, and that's what brought me to your channel. So, I'd prefer to use that option as much as I can. What I'm wondering about whether there is a subway station reasonably close to the Radisson Blu. This will be my first visit to Shanghai (and Beijing), and I look forward to exploring the subway system.
@@BorClimey Yes, it is near the People square subway stop which is on line 2 (which departs from the airport). Go to Google maps and search for the hotel in Shanghai. If you zoom in, you'll even see which exit to take that is closest to the hotel.
@@ChinaDIYTravel, thanks, mate. For some reason, I'm unable to spot it on Google Maps. Ha ha... Shall look again, of course. Actually, I'm thinking of taking the opportunity to ride the MagLev into town, and then transfer to Line 2. Hope the interchange is convenient, and not too long a walk.
Have you ever made a video bout luggage deposit in Shanghai airport? I wanna know where can I leave my luggage for a day-trip. Is it by locker? Or priced per luggage (carry-on). Also, is it easy to find one in the airport?
@@aleksandrasist7759 just got back from Shanghai. So, on the departure floor just follow the “baggage storage sign”. Its very noticeable. My flight landed in terminal 1 so the baggage storage is between door 6-7. It’s a counter with 2 staffs that will make you scan the luggage and they will store it for you in a closed-room (only staff). The price was very reasonable…it’s priced per bag. I remember paying for 2 carry-ons for 24hr-price (if i remember correctly, it got up to 10hr price, if it’s more than 10hr, paying 24hr is cheaper than paying hourly…hope im making sense). I paid the first time when depositing 30 yuan, then another 20 yuan when collecting the bags. (They make you split the payments). To conclude i paid 50 yuan for 2 carry-ons, or 25 yuan per bag for 24hr.

Are there any sleeping pods available at pudong international airport please? how can i get details for booking and payment (if so)? if not which hotels are in the airport terminal 2 please? Hi, I will be going from Pudong Airport to Jing’an Temple: would the subway or Maglev be available? I will have luggage, would it be very difficult to travel on subway? Thanks for the useful video.
The new satellite terminal is accessed via T1. The information in this video is still correct. The public spaces shown in this video are still pretty much the same.
A quick question that I didn't find out from the video and the airport bus website is down. Next week I will be arriving to Shanghai Pudong Airport and from there I need to go via train to Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Is there maglev or any other kind of train directly from Pudong to Hangzhou, or do I have to first go to Hongqiao train station and take a train from there? Thank you.
Sorry for the delay in responding. It depends. There are trains departing from three different stations in Shanghai to Hangzhou. I would take one of the shuttle buses from the airport to the station that you are departing from. Bus#1 goes to Shanghai Hongqiao (non stop), bus #5 goes to Shanghai (main) station non-stop and bus #7 goes to the Shanghai south railway station.
Not now. The rail company is trying to do away with paper tickets. Chinese citizens will be able to just swipe their id crd instead of a ticket. For foreigner, there will be a QR code. For payment one can pay at the station with WeChat pay but this is only for Chinese or foreigners who live there and have a Chinese bank account.
Will airport bus conductor have enough change if have ¥100 ? Do they announce each stop when they are stopping or do i need to be careful and remember when to get off ? When i reach my stop, will someone automatically come down to get my luggage out from the storage underneath? Sorry if my questions are silly but travelling first time. Thanks
The fare is collected by someone else than the driver but it doesn't matter, this person will have change At the stops, the driver comes out to open the booth for luggage. The stops are indicated on the led screen at the front of the bus but you may want to download a map of Shanghai on maps.me as it works offline. This way you can track where you are.
how late do the convenience store stay open and also the little place that sell sim card in the airport? i will be arriving in pudong airport around 8 pm and then pick up my luggage. So around 10 pm, I would be out. Will those place that sell sim card still be open? are they open 24/7?

hmmm 6 hrs is bit of a stretch i d say. but u should have 3 hrs for a smooth transit
To Shanghai downtown you can take the Shanghai Metro Line 2 (45 minutes, 7RMB), you can also take the Shanghai maglev (430KM / H, 7 minutes, 50RMB)!
Tao Shen can u inform me how to get to Nanjing road from pudong airport by Metro only? Thanks in advance
Asrita Irianti u can just take line 2. Noticeably, u need to interchange from 4-coach metro train to 8-coach one at Guanglan Road station .
