This is Jack Carr's personal FJ62 Land Cruiser, which he's owned for years, but has been recently restored by Icon4x4/TLC4x4 to its current glory. Jack has a love for Land Cruisers (especially the FJ62 and FJ60) which is apparent in his personal life, but also in his novels. This Land Cruiser is actually a character in his books and beloved by the protagonist of his novels, James Reece. Similar to the FJ62 in the novels, what started as an old, beat up rust bucket, is now the envy of any Land Cruiser enthusiast.

I’ve met jack carr on a hunting trip in Texas before and I didn’t even know who he was and ever since then I’ve been like wow I literally met an extremely famous person without knowing.
I became a huge Land Cruiser fan because of Jack's books. An FJ62 or 60 is now one of my dream vehicles. Really enjoyed this video.
Can't say they didn't play a part in me deciding to pick up a 60...
Did you guys in America (Australian typing here) get the diesel or turbo versions of 60's series?
@@ollie620 Only NA petrol in the US, Canada saw a limited amount of the NA 2H and 3B with a very few 13bt, the only HZ variants were sold as "industrial" equipment, so mine trucks.
The 80 series is cool too. The Bruiser Cruiser as they call it in South Africa.
I feel this! Same exact reason I’m saving to make this my dream build!
LLOD + Jack Carr. Count me in
Me too!
@The Training Log Podcast Agreed 100%
Jack is such a stand up guy. I am glad that "select" members like himself are finding their lane and taking it in stride. The gun, survival, tactics, literature/screenplay writing crowds, all welcome you with open arms and gratitude. You pick up the weak links with inspiration and heart. You're fighting a new fight, and thank you for it.
Love seeing our vets becoming successful after their career keeping our Republic free. Cruiser lover as well! Simply awesome!
Jack is so amazing. I saw this in the show and heard him talk about it in the pod cast and boom it shows up in the recommends. So awesome!!! This guy is on fire
Finishing up the 4th book now. This is an amazing video after all that context. Great work Jack and Mike.
Jack is awesome. I read all three of his books. Every time he brings up his past it’s like he’s hitting a memory of mine Can’t wait for the next book. Hopefully I’ll catch him on the road and get a signed copy.
Brought the Cruiser from Savage Son to life! Very cool.
This is epic. Two of the coolest folks talking guns, knives, and trucks.
This guy was so cool and pleasant to be around. Great company and great attitude and so resourceful and knowledgeable AND a writer!!!! doesn't get better than that
Kickass video, FJ and gear! I binged The Terminal List and absolutely loved it!!!
My dad passed on a beautiful FJ62 to me when I was 20 years old. It had been the family vehicle for 14 years at the time, with countless trips to the wild. I loved every second of owning it and did a few more trips with my friends, now as a young adult, before moving overseas 11 years ago. Last year they sold it to a couple. It's great to know that it's still alive and someone's enjoying it and taking care of it. These vehicles are legendary
Wonderful story
Thanks Jack for your service - and thanks LLOD for continuing to put him on to hear more about his story.
I am actually looking ofr a land cruiser right now, so this just blew up my head with the thought of the upgrade on the LS swap! total game changer
not worth it
keep the original engine
its not a racecar. its a tank. you lose reliability and durability, the things you buy a Cruiser for in the first place.
What a interesting walk around, and perfect timing as I was just trying to figure out what to read next!
It's a great series!
Jack Carr is the best! His novels are the best! And this video is Outstanding!!! Thanks guys for putting this together!!!
Or one of your best videos. Thank you so much. I love the air Wolf reference to the vehicle. Fantastic stuff
I literally just read a magazine today in Safeway featuring his Fj62! Insane timing with the video!
Read all three of his books in a week. I highly recommend them. Great books, great man, great author.
They're addicting!
What a beautiful vehicle and Jack Carr seems like a great guy. Saw him in Black Rifle Coffee’s “Veterans React to War Movies” series and he was hilarious. Good stuff.
"Just the basics, nothing to fancy to go to work with."
I'm drooling lol
Ikr
I'm so glad someone did a review on the 60! I was eager to find something on it after watching the show. I have a 1988 HJ61 (RHD, Turbo diesel, factory front and rear cable driven diff locks, heated driver seat, power sunroof, high roof) in the states while I'm stationed in Japan. Can't wait to get back home to it
Hell of a truck right there!
Dark Angel kit! Nice.. I've had one in my glovebox since taking the course years ago. This was an awesome walkaround..sounds like I need to read the books
You know you have done something right in your life when you are able to get Jonathan's shop to do up your landcruiser.
This build and jack are so amazing!! Freaking lighting in the bottle man. So amazing
Rewatching this video as I start "Devil's Hand" after reading Jack Carr's past books.
Also inspired me to up my EDC and what I carry in my vehicle.
Jack...I don't look up to many but you my friend, you are my hero.
LOVE THIS LAND CRUISER
beautiful build, this guy seems really cool. Thank you for your service. Im going to pickup your books.
nice interview. great books! can't wait for the series.
As a fan of Jonathan Ward and Ikon, they did thier typical awesome job on this unit. I'm jealous. Enjoy it forever Jack.
Saw Jack on Tucker Carlson today show, went to the library today and an getting up to speed. What a great truck. Best of luck on continued success.
Love it!! Great video. And I'm looking forward to getting the books
Awesome video! All your content is amazing to watch and very inspiring. Jack is a good man and so are the rest of the men and woman who fight to keep us free🤙🏼 God bless you sir and keep up the good work!
Marketing works!, I've been lookin for more books to read and I was just sold on this series, can't wait to tackle it this weekend!
Such an awesome rig! It’s nice seeing people achieve quality builds. 👌
With the right amount of money anything is possible man.
Love the pod cast and your books keep killing it jack carr
Awesome love Jack Carr just got Terminal List on audio book and been listening on my travels.
This was a great video, cool truck walk around, loved it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome vid brother your killing it. Love his books on audio 😬 bad ass truck. Mike your killing it
Such a great video - thanks to you both!
Yes, great interview & walk around! Enjoyed Jack's series thus far & really looking forward to Devil's Hand...👊🏻🇺🇸
Yeah anxiously awaiting that!
Thank you for all this. What a great guest and seems very genuine.
He's a great dude!
What an awesome build and a Legend interview. loved it!
Jack is a frickin cool American!! Thanks for all you've done. 🇺🇲
That was awesome ! Looking forward to seeing the edc vid. And " the devil's hand "
Saw the seats and door panels and right off I knew it was an Icon. They build nice stuff.
Cool video. Thanks, Gents! BTW, The Terminal List, on Prime, is one of the best shows I’ve watched, ever!
Just bought the 4th Jack Carr book (“The Devil’s Hand”) today. Read (listened to) “Terminal List” & “Savage Son” over this past week. Yes, audiobooks! ADHD makes reading laborious to say the least. That LS3 looks better under an FJ hood than a Corvette. Room to work. When this version of the Land Cruiser (60 Series) was released in the
U.S. purest (including me) complained about moving away from the more Jeep version. That view quickly disappeared as this more versatile Land Cruiser became an ICON.
Oh man, my dad had a 1980fj60 with a 4 speed. What a quality piece of machinery that vehicle was. Wish he had held on to it.
man, this was really awesome! way to go LLOD!
Sweet FJ62! Crazy that you filmed it in Park City, I live down the mountain in Salt Lake valley.
Gonna have to give those books a look. Love the LC, it looks super clean.
This is great because I was just listening to the terminal list yesterday 😂
Thanks for this! Love your stuff, always quality!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Decided to start reading his books after seeing this video, enjoying the first book a lot so far. Killer land cruiser as well.
Careful man you’ll fall in love with the books lol
@@thegamecockdude too late for that one brother, even got my dad hooked on this series, the book is too hard to put down
@@Saint-Bedo if you haven’t read John Ross “unintended consequences” it’s a must. You’ll have to actually buy the book though. It’s the best 2a book ever written
@@thegamecockdude ill give it a try either after Terminal List or when I finish the series so far 🤟🏽
All the books are outstanding.
Best interview yet
I do the same thing when getting pulled over except i use a tourniquet. Got out of 3 tickets with it sitting in the seat or on the dash
Excellent video as always. I'll read the books, thanks for the heads up on them.
You won't regret it!
Love his books and now his ride! Thanks for the video! I want that LS 3 in my FJ Cruiser!
Just need $10K+
Two of our favorite people! Awesome vehicle, awesome books!
Thanks guys!
Truck is tastefully done, very subtle like something from the factory.
Just wanted to let you and possibly jack know, I’m heading to the book store to pick this book up. Hearing y’all talk genuinely about love of gear and purpose use behind it is awesome, love the videos llod 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Hope you liked it!
Holy cow...that is an amazing LC. Just stunning.
I knew that was ICON before y’all said. ICON definitely the way to go for fj’s.
Love the books! Can't wait for the next one!
I love content like this. Can’t wait to buy his books.
That LC is legit! That what my parents had when I was a kid.
Awesome collaboration!
As soon as I saw them driving at the beginning, I was like "is that an ICON/TLC?"
Loving that land cruiser! Gotta start reading his books🤙🏽
Jack Carr is a legend. Great vid. Great book series as well... Bout to read The Devil's Hand: A Thriller!
This was an awesome video! Thanks!!
God that thing is gorgeous. Buddy just finished his LS3 swap in his 2nd gen Taco and boy is it silly with the amount of torque. Cheers to another solid video Mike!
Oh how original another ls build 😴😴
Sweet!! I can’t wait to watch the tv series!!
Who doesn't love some fine looking trucks
Love these classy rides
A true child of the 80s indeed
The older I get it seems the older cars I like, haha.
Jack is a cool dude. Love the books, great vid!
Awesome man, I’m digging these sort of videos. Big Toyota fan myself, got a few videos on the channel.
Such a cool FJ62. Would love to see Carr in future episodes
What a legend
Your the man Jack
Keep pushing good sir
As soon as I saw it I said "I bet that's an Icon".
They do great work!
How awesome, friends with Jack Carr!
Jack is so chill.
Beautiful vehicle 🤙, wish I had the means. Thanks for posting this...
LLOD x garand thumb collab???
That looks great! I have the same engine in my 2010 Wrangler 4 door.
Love Land Cruisers. This one is amazing. I really want one.
Basically took a what 30 something yr old suv and made it a literal brand new suv now. This is so awesome.
Jack Carr is the Man! Mike you have the dream job!
I've certainly been able to become friends with some cool people!
So a little late but had to throw in a comment. I have been following your channel for years and this is the first time I have come across this video (almost two years later). I just finished watching The Terminal List (amazon prime) with Chris Pratt and had no idea that it was based on Jack Carr's book! Christ Pratt's character actually drives a bad ass Land Cruiser...go figure! Thank you for your service Jack and for being a hell of a writer. And thanks for another great video Mike!
This was awesome!!!
Love the work TLC does. Almost did a V8 swap in my 87 FJ60 but sold it. Funny but Jonathan Ward bought it from me.
Fantastic guest Mike
I’m running those same tires in my tacoma, love them
Think this is my third time watching this. 90 min of my life I’ll never get back 😂. Amazing LC...
Looking forward for that gear/EDC video 👀
I'm over in the 110 camp with Raife, but that Toyota is gorgeous!
I love how in his books, the FJ is a character of its own.
Awesome Vehicle Awesome Kit! Great Author!
Jack is the man. Meet him before the books every came out. 2012 Thunder Ranch.
Very cool
