As much as I like Land Rovers, before the Landcruiser was launched, in Australia Land Rover dominated the off-road vehicle market at 90%. However, not long after the Landcruiser went on sale, that went down to 2%, yes 2%!! This has already been commented on, but I’m going to say it again because it’s quite funny, that the saying in Australia is, “if you want to head out into the outback take a Land Rover, but if you want to come back again take a Landcruiser”. I lived as a kid in Mosul Iraq, and my father had 2 vehicles. One was NISSAN Patrol, and other Land Cruiser. Only thing I remember going south was windshield smashed from a rock on a fast road. Those vehicles were amazing. Where ever you want to go, just point the first tyres. Up, down, mud, sand. It keeps going. Amazing. Never broke down. Never got stuck, and that's what you need in a off road vehicle. I liked Toyota little more than Nissan.

My grandfather said a Toyota is a poor mans military tank. Toyota is the only car brand that I will go with. Just look for the video that top gear created called trying to kill a Toyota where they burned and bashed it to pieces and spoiler alert. It still ran and drove. If you speak of ford or any other American car brand in my household, you will be exiled to a galaxy far far away.
They've done the same thing to a Jeep XJ Cherokee. Just look on youtube you can see one getting totally thrashed coming apart in half at the frame and still driving
That being said though the Toyota Hiluxes from the mid 1990s are/were indestructible. I see them a lot still driving in Peru where they sold a ton of them to that market.
Hi I am from Venezuela a country full of Toyota lovers. My Grandad himself had a black Land Cruiser model 80. It was a wonderful vehicle. These were nicknamed "Burbujas" (bubbles) and "Autanas" (the name of a tepui, a rooftop-shaped mountain common here) I really loved to drive it. And the model 60 are called "Samurais". The model 80 was so popular that in my country they were produced as late as 2007. The newest model's nickname is "Roraima" (another tepui). But unfortunately they're so unaffordable that only corrupt politicians can get them. Anyway, I loved your video bro. Keep up the good work.

I have a 100 and 40 series. Both are amazing. The FJ40 is great for the weekend, but the 100 performs great everyday on the street and at a farm where it finds itself in mud. I drive both hard and I have never got stuck.
This brings back childhood memories, my dad had a 1985 model we used to travel 800 miles every 6 months we loved that car so much, it was so powerful and reliable that my dad was emotional when he had to sell it.
Best truck ever..just thinking my 2004 100series is now 14 years old and I still drive it like I’m king of the road and off road .. my kids grew up admiring this piece of outstanding engineering.. they still don’t dare to put their feet on the seats
He didn't even mention the 70 series and the fact it is still being made today. He outright lied about the 100 series being still in production. and left out the FJ cruiser as a capable off road vehicle that took styling cues of an ancestor to mark an anniversary of the nameplate .
I bought the cheapest FZJ80 landcruiser in the US a few months ago for 1000$ with 500k miles on it. Ran and drove with no issues. Yeah its covered in rust from living a life in the midwestern rust belt, but in quarantine, its been the perfect project for my dad and I.
I guess the history lesson followed the US lineage of the Land Cruiser, but definitely not the world's. Toyota decided to split the LC range twice. First, they continued with the 70 Series even though the 80 Series went into production. 70s were seen as the work-horses, while the 80s were the more "lifestyle" rigs. In higher trims, the 70s became known as LC Prado, but this was short lived until the 90 Series was launched in 1996 when the LC Prado became its own model line, rather than just a trim level. Shortly thereafter is when the second split occurred, making the LC range now 3 distinct models: the long running 70 Series, medium sized 90 Series, and full sized 100, Series at the time. This three way split continues to today, with the 70 Series still being in production (albeit slightly face-lifted), then we have the current LC Prado aka 150 Series, and finally the full sized LC 200 Series. Where I'm from, we have all 3 sold here

@Professor Liberal Avenger Don't get me wrong I own a Toyota land cruiser 70 series dual cab v8 turbo diesel and I think its a beastly truck but I don't think its fair to label it as NO.1 when there are better cars/trucks in different categories. For example I am also the owner of a 1994 land rover defender 110 modified to be a beast, why do you bring this up you may ask well thats because the things that truck have gone through off-roading and never getting stuck once but I have plenty of mates who go off-roading in Toyotas same spots and at the end of the day I'm towing them out of the mud, but with that said my cruiser has so much more power than the Land Rover I mean it is a v8 turbo diesel so when I am towing something I'm going to use the Cruiser. In conclusion I think it would be better to just say its better in a certain categories but people do what people want to do so I guess I can't hate.
@Professor Liberal Avenger newer ones an old defender is perfectly made you fool most are still driving around today and theres a reason its the car that was took to discover Africa and other areas with rough terrain.
Here in Brazil we had only the model 40 under the name plate “bandeirante”, it was produced until 2001, with minor facelifts, they started with the gasoline engines and in 1970 they kept only the diesel ones, a fun fact is that toyota used mercedes diesel engines until 1991, my family owns an 1989 bj truck long wheel based, since 2000 and we love it! We work with coffee, and our plantations are very difficult to access, and the land cruiser or bandeirante is aways up to the task!

I drive a 2001 d4d land cruiser in finnish army, it pushed through really deep snow when i hitted it to low range with locked diffs, also went sideways quite nicely if wanted to 😃
My grandfather said a Toyota is a poor mans military tank.
Go take a Quick look at any new toyota landcruiser and Call it a poor mans truck again
so thats why LC made Lexsus is cost about more than 110k$ and its really amazing bro

Maldito maduro

Should have mentioned the 79 series. Absolute weapon anywhere you take it, lacks technology but you cant argue with its power
Actually, the 79 series has quite a lot of technology being a modern common rail turbo diesel, however, common rail motors bring exhaust gas into the intake manifold.
@@sethj3711 common rail engines have been used since the early 1900s. An ECU has replaced cam and hydraulic timing, and EGRs, turbos and other unnecessary additions make it somewhat more complex, it hasn't changed all that much
@@sethj3711 dpfs bring old exhaust gas back early models don't but the common rail injection has a lot of pressure. The 79s had a 1hz and 1hd fte which were direct injection motors
I drive an '02 Land Cruiser most days to work in Guatemala, and we also just got an FJ-40 from the 70s here too. I'm having some basic repairs done on my '02 (Window Motor and Headlight that was smashed) I gotta say that for Guatemala older Land Cruisers are perfect for the narrow roads and streets that are poorly maintained and the unmaintained rural roads, and from a mechanical standpoint they never quit.
