Hi! Is it possible to remove the rear door checkstrap without door trim/doorcard removal? So it is accessible from outside? When loosed the bolts (9:31) you just left it hanging there, didn't take it out. My rear door checkstraps are almost stuck due to infrequent use, it should be replaced - it has a scary voice and lubrication does not help... Thank you for your help!
Hi, checkstrap failure is quite common as these cars age. However replacements are quite cheap. Unfortunately no i believe that the checkstrap needs to be extracted from behind the door panel

@@peugeotCitroen2CV Thank you very much! I was afraid of that too. However, replacement of this part is still feasible, just takes a little longer...
@ Yes very much still feasable. You are only talking an extra 10-20 mins to remove the door panel really not too bad, if you do one the second door will be quicker.
Thank you for the very good video! I have a problem with the window regulator. From minute 7.30 in the video, the plastic part for the pane is moved up and down. At the end of the rail, it stops automatically due to the pinch protection. I renewed the parts and assembled everything correctly. But when testing, it doesn't stop at the ends at the top and bottom. What is the reason? I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany! :-)
Hi I dont know if there is pinch protection on the passenger side windows (sorry i am in ireland filiming a right hand drive car, so this is the passenger side window without the one touch control and i think without the pinch protection) are you doing the drivers side or passenger side window in your left hand drive car? The one touch automatic up/down function needs programmed back in if the window or battery have been disconnected. Im not 100% sure what the official process is but i put the window down fully, release the button, then push for down and hold it for a few seconds, then bring the window to the top, and then hold the button for up for a few seconds. Hopefully that makes sense, if you have any other issues just ask.
@@peugeotCitroen2CV Hi, Many thanks for your detailed answer. Yes, I have left-hand drive and it is the window regulator from the driver's side. My window has the pinch protection with One Touch automatic. Also thanks for the instructions to reprogram the window. But my problem is, I have not yet installed the complete window regulator mechanism. I had replaced it with a repair kit and everything worked manually. Before the installation I tested with electrical connection on the car door. (just like you in your video). And right here when you go up and down there is no stop at the ends of the metal rail. (the wire pull is overstretching and I have to release the trigger before the mechanism gets damaged). In your video, the slide stops automatically at the top and bottom, as you can see. Maybe you have some advice, I would be grateful! :-) Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
@@onnopleine1582 I am not too sure, the cable obviously goes tight at the extreme ends of its travel. Might be worth joining the 406 owners club facebook page as someone might have had this particular issue.
Thanks. I have made some window repair and now I see that how I have to take everything off that i could chance these parts. Maybe take me more than couple hour but will see.
The motor can be opened, bit fiddly but they do also come apart. There is a dab of grease at the bearing point and i think on the gears where it connects to the regulator. The window run channels, the rubber parts are more likely to benefit from lubrication, silicone spray to reduce the friction between the glass and rubber will speed up the electric window operation.
Unfortunatley i don't have any videos on a 407 i havent worked on any yet. But if the 407 has one touch controls for the rear windows it may be that the anti pinch feature needs to be recalibrated, when the window reaches this point does it go back down, if so then remove the battery for a minuite then try moving the window to the top again.

merci beaucoup pour cette video tres demonstrative. elle m'a enormement aide pour le remplacement de mon leve vitre electrique. beau travail video.
Have you taken apart the door on a newer model? I am trying to disable the anti-pinch feature as it is causing me problems. But I don't quite know how.
Yes my 2002 is as up to date as the parts got, they stopped building them in 2004 but the facelift after 01 was the last big change for the 406 lineup. The anti pinch feature isnt really a big issue, disconnect the battery and when reconnecting it bring the window up to the fully up position (without pulling the switch back to the one touch click), once its at the top hold the switch up fully for a few seconds, let the window then go back down then hold the button fully down, this usually calibrates in the anti pinch features. If there is any restrictions in the window runners it may make the anti pinch think there is a hand in the way.
peugeotCitroen2CV I have tried to re-calibrate. I have bought some Hekko wind deflectors which is causing the issue as they slot into the window canal. Which is why I want to try disable the feature.
Robert Evans I have hekko wind defelectors in my 406 the windows go up without any issues, the stainless clips need to be in right at the top though. As far as im aware the anti pinch cant be disabled, and its actually quite a useful thing for safety, i have got my hand caught in the window of a 1980s nissan bluebird, it wasnt pleasent.
peugeotCitroen2CV I had another go at fitting them but still having issues. They fit fine in the rear windows, Bit again in the front passenger window it wouldn't go all the way up. So its not the anti-pinch as such just the motors. I hope I can find another way around it without fitting new motors. I was thinking about trimming the window seal so its not so tight, but if it goes wrong it looks quite tricky to replace.
Robert Evans You shouldnt have to trim window seals unless something is badly wrong. With regards to the front window does it stop going up because of resistance and then just stop or does it try to go up, then suddlenly go back down.
Hi, do you know if the rear doors are identical between the original and the facelift 406? I've slightly ruined my passenger side rear and looking to replace from a donor vehicle.
+he11canwait As far as i recall the doors themselves should be the same, the door cards were definatley different that could possibly mean different mounting holes but i think peugeot may have kept them, i know people have fitted D9 doorcards into the D8 (D8=Pre facelift, D9=Facelift) so it should be possible.
Can the doors be disconnected from car and removed without removing the evaporation barrier? I just want to get the door inside the house.. not to dismantle it to pieces :-)
Hi, yes it should be possible to remove the door without so much as taking off the door card. If you watch the video from 7:56 onwards it can be removed as a complete assembly. I just did a full teardown as it made a more complete video.

The window motor can be lubricated or it's completely sealed?
