    Beautiful way to explain these procedures. Nice work. I've got Antipollution Fault, Airbag Fault and ABS fault always popping up on my MFD. Also, instrument cluster has CEL and those other faults. Dunno what to do, plus I've noticed my Lion doesn't break instantly as it used to, it always comes to a gradual stop. It's a 406, HPi, petrol engine.

    Thanks a lot for this helpful video! One question: can we still get the PP2000 nowadays?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that.
      Yes PP2000 is still available. Ebay has plenty of options all chinese clones of the real thing but they work ok. PP2000 and Lexia were what they were called. Diagbox is the latest version that will work with the more modern cars. Might be woth a read through the forums for more information as i have not yet updated to diagbox.

    Excellent video thanks for your efforts. I have the same problem with my 307 and i did the same but it didnt work, but i think it is due to the rust and dirt that wasnt cleaned up properly. I didnt know that you could test it with pp2000. I was driving my car to test it each time and that really put me off when it didnt work. Thanks.

    I recently had to jump a side curve due to an ambulance driving at the speed of light. This broke the suspension rod bearing and the ABS light is on in my 2001 306 SW. The garage i took it to swapped the bearing and tried to take a reading off the OBS connector, but only got simple engine readings (so guessing they are using a universal software) So they simply told me the different things it COULD be, but if i wanted them too look into it further and fix the problem it would cost me. I took a look at the sensor today and there was magnetic dust all over it. I brushed that off the best i could and tried to take off the sensor, but even tho i removed the bolt i couldnt get it off. Is it a simple case of using brute force once the bolt is out? Also, do you think simply cleaning like you did would do the trick once i get the sensor off or do you think the sensor and/or the magnetic ring (not sure if it has one, just saw it on another video) on the inside of the break assembly could be toast from the shock of hitting the curve?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes the sensor will simply be stuck in there and the only way to get them out is brute force which can break them. Sometimes cleaning them is all it takes, the rings can also give trouble if they have rusted they can split and cause other odd problems.

    • @renehoyvik
      @renehoyvik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alright, thank you for the quick response. I'll try again tomorrow to get it off and clean the sensor and reluctor ring. If that doesnt solve the issue i'll take off the brake disk and check that the magnetic ring is in one piece, if it is the odds are that i'll just need to order a new sensor.

    I tried this, but snapped the bolt holding the sensor. Now what do I do?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chisel the old bad sensor out of place, you might have a stub of a bolt left to work with in which case plenty of heat from map gas or an oxy acetylene torch to heat the area and remove the stub with a pair of vise grips.
      Sometimes it may need ground down, drilled and then tapped out. Its also possible just to push the sensor into the hole and not use a bolt, not ideal but the sensor sits in with an interference fit

    My 206 GTi got an ABS error code 'C1120'. I can't find much info about that particular error code. Do you know what's wrong with my ABS system? Thanks in advance!

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, im not sure what C1120 actually refers to, google isnt being very definitive.
      Its always best to plug a peugeot planet diagnostics tool into an older peugeot as it gives a much more specific code. One can be bought on ebay for £50 or less.
      However i would recommend trying the 206 owners club page on facebook as they may be able to give an answer quite quickly.

      @@peugeotCitroen2CV Thank you for your quick reply! I used my Autel FR704 which is a PSA specific scan tool. Unfortunately it doesn't give a specific ABS code. My ABS warning light is permanently on and if I erase the code it will immediately return as soon as I turn the key in the 'on' position.
      Thanks again for your help, if I find the problem I will let you know

    I got the PP2000 from ebay about 3 years ago (back then it cost £150 and was from china)
    They are much cheaper now, and i would advise buying one from a uk registered seller with good feedback as it will arrive faster, having said that the one i got from china has had no problems.
    There is now diagbox, which if you search for "peugeot diagbox" will work with the newer cars, and it has pp2000 on it aswell.

    Hi,
    I got different kind of issue.. my speedometer+odometer doesn't work, but sometimes work for just couple of seconds.
    And when it's work the steering wheel become heavy. I don't know what's the problem and how to fix it.
    I hope I can get some answers from you.
    Regards,
    ALI

      Hi, its strange that the steering becomes heavy i wouldnt really associate the two with eachother. Is the alternator working correctly, any other electrical issues?

    Hello. Many thanks for this video. I have an ABS fault error on my 406 that appears. The dealer here told me I need to to replace the ABS pump (Bosch box with the many metallic wires near the engine) which will cost me over 815 euros. I don't know if they tried your fix. What do you think I should do? Shall I try to buy some tools and try this fix manually? Do you think the PP software will identify if it's a bump issue or a sensor?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peugeot planet cost me £100 about 5 years ago off ebay (about €115) its now only £80, probably cheaper elsewhere.
      PP2000 will identify down to the specific electro valve in your ABS pump what one is giving trouble, it would also say if the car is having a fault with the sensor.
      Dealers are a rip off for parts, if you can avoid going to them for most parts especially for the 406. I recently bought myself a C5 V6 with an ABS fault, the Lexia software (comes on the same CD as PP2000 and uses the same lead) detected an ABS pump fault, for a laugh i checked the dealer price for a pump and it was well over £1000. In the end i bought a working used pump for £50, worst case scenario BBA reman would refurbish the pump.
      With the 406 if you can get a PP2000 machine which is a worthwhile investment find out whats wrong and try to fix it yourself. Join 406.oc.uk which is very helpful for finding information on doing stuff like this.

      @wuliangye 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +peugeotCitroen2CV thank you very much. Aside from the PP software, do I need an ODB cable to connect a laptop to the car? I've also soon some ODB dongles with Bluetooth capability to connect to the car via Bluetooth and have the freedom to move the laptop around. What would you recommend?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something like this:
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXIA-3-PEUGEOT-CITREON-DIAGNOSTIC-INTERFACE-PP2000-CAN-BUS-DIAGBOX-V7-V50-V25-/222216756753?hash=item33bd269e11:g:AxwAAOSwKtVWy88G
      That comes with the lead, you need an old laptop just to run it, PP2000 used to need Windows XP, now it has been superseded by diagbox (which retains all of PP2000s functions) it runs on Windows 7.
      Those bluetooth dongle things do not really work on a 406, on the odd petrol one they might get basic engine codes but dont do any other module on the car. That thing in the link is a really great bit of kit to have, ive had mine now about 5 years and have to say it has been invaluable both on peugeots and citroens.

    • @wuliangye
      @wuliangye 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +peugeotCitroen2CV Wonderful. Does this kit work on peugeot sold outside the uk? Mine is a non-uk 2004 peugeot 406.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      It should work on all versions of 406 regardless of what country its in.

  • @mejabr

    the abs (intermittently) keeps on kicking in for no reason on my 406 - and no fault lights are coming on. any ideas? typically at low speeds, even braking when going up hill. works fine at most other times.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes the disks and pads can be worn or warped and this can trigger the ABS to pulsate at lower speeds

    • @mejabr
      @mejabr 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah that's what I've heard - it doesn't happen all the time though and sometimes the ABS seems to kick in as soon as I put any pressure on the pedal. other times the brakes work perfectly fine. seems odd to me

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      jamie meakin I had an issue similar to what you are describing on a renault clio, in its case the disks used were actually too small for the car and were intended for a non abs model. With your car i would check the disks and pads first.

    • @fattail95
      @fattail95 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very common on the 406, nothing to do with warped disks or warn pads. It's simply the front left/right reluctor ring on the driveshaft.

    Can u please tell me the size of this ABS speed sensor bolt? I can not find it. I only get this original information but to tell u the truth I don't know what it means this number: 6X100-25, is it M6x100 or something like that? It will be nice to know that.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BestBuildPC Power of imagination I cant remember off the top of the head, i just have a shelf of nuts and bolts from cars ive stripped over the years, its usually "that one sitting there" that does the job, i think its an M6. M6x100 would be a 100mm long bolt which is a bit long, probably m6x25
