Happy Kings Day. I appreciate that you took the time to put this study together in a short sweet succinct breakdown. Have some Kings cake today and hopefully you get the lucky coin and can be crowned for the day. Peace and love.
The quality of this channel's uploads is amazing; the subscriber count should be far higher! I just found you tonight, and I'm looking forward to going through your catalog.
Good job breaking down Molnar's work without losing the essentials. You're right. Molnar's book is not a page turner. It requires careful study and contemplation to follow the argument. But it is an intriguing, worthy argument. Again, good job!
I think it’s important to bring Daniel the prophet into the conversation. He was appointed head of the Magi and probably the most important leader they had due to his connection with God. I’m sure his writings would have been kept and studied. He wrote in Daniel 9 about the seventy sevens of years which spoke of Messiah being “cut off” so his appearance was prophesied to some detail. The Magi would have been watching for a sign of the Daniel’s Messiah being born around this time so when they saw “his star” they determined to go and see him. The gifts could very well have been passed down from Daniel himself to present to his King.
I was going to say this myself. Thankfully I read your comment 1st. I was telling a preacher about Daniel & the connection to the Magi. You are appreciated
Excellent presentation! Keep in mind that the Magi represents one of the earlier forms of monotheism. And, after the Persian Magi pay homage, Jesus, Mary and Joseph flee into Egypt. That’s another symbolic reference that indicates Jesus’ significance. Egypt is where “god-Kings” dwelled and their monuments were aligned with the stars. Also, Akhenaten was the first “monotheistic king” so to speak. It’s possible that the Gospels mentioned these as a way to convey that Jesus and his message and purpose far exceeds that of both the Magi and power of Persia and exceeds that of Egypt as well. Just a thought! Thanks again for posting!
In ~1958 the Cincinnati, Ohio planetarium presented a lecture on Maji ( astronomer/astrologers ) potential observations. It pointed to positions changing directions of motion of significant planets. One changed to retrograde and the second changed to retrograde and back in the same year. The account was that they looked for significant enough events to bring such a strong portent. By then Alexander had established quite a few libraries. So they could look at many predictions and pick the most important. If this was combined with a super nova, just so much more. Look, no tail.
I have a question…what do you make of the same star going before them and resting over where Christ was…this seems like a completely supernatural event with no natural correlation, unless there are astrological terms I’m unaware of that explain what is happening…
It's actually something the author addresses in the book (but was too much detail to get into in the video). If I remember correctly the language used for coming to rest is the same language astrologers used to describe retrograde motion of a planet in the sky. I'd have to go back and reference the book to give you a more detailed answer, but it's one of the points he makes to support his argument that the Bible is talking about astrology.
Jupiter slowly moves westward over several months so it makes sense that they saw it in the east at first and then followed it west until it appeared to be over Bethlehem. Read up on astronomy.
This. The text clearly implies the “star” rested over the house where Jesus and fam were located, not the region or even the town. Not exactly sure how an actual astronomical body would rest with such precision (even if referring to the astronomical term meaning entering retrograde). Such details point to something unique and prepared for the event, similar to Jonah’s fish.
G.Grennell Ive heard a similar explanation before. How does it explain how a star in the heavens points out a single house on the ground? Maybe it was used to bring them into the right country, but then a supernatural light had to point out the house.
Thanks for this presentation. I heard of the ancient coin with the “star”, you helped understand this part. Liked your last statement; let’s GOD meet us where we are at.
I was about to cobble together a bunch of other sources to teach this to my kids when we read Matthew 2 this morning...and well look at that, your video had all of it and done so well! Much appreciated, I look forward to diving into your other content!
Computer models show another possible Bethlehem star in 2 BC with the “king” of the planets in conjunction with the brightest star in the constellation Leo (that also fits) Regulus which is Roman for “prince” or “little king”. However the conjunction was not a singular event as this conjunction happened at that time three times (think Trinity)
You may also be interested in the Revelation 12:1 sign in the heavens. 23 September 2017 (Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah) The King Planet (Jupiter) was in the belly of Virgo (Virgin) for 9 months because of retrograde motion. She was clothed in the Sun ,and the Moon was at her feet.
What I've gathered so far: Jesus was born on 9/11/3 BC (approx. Tishrei 1). Herod died around Feb 1 BC (he asked for an apple which likely disqualifies the March 4 BC lunar eclipse happening prior to this as apples were out of season but gives credence to the January 1 BC eclipse occurring before this). Quinctilius Varus was assigned to the area a second time (the first being in 6 BC where he held a local poll requiring everyone to swear fealty to Herod, but 6,000 Pharisees refused) in BC and was noted as meeting with Herod (Josephus). Varus' family tomb had an inscription mentioning a member of the family serving twice, but the name is broken off. The person is two entries after Varus first 6 BC service, but it's thought the second one is his. Augustus required a head count registration for the entire Roman empire in preparation for a celebration held in 2 BC for the Secular Games and also bestowing the title of Father of Fatherland onto Augustus. I haven't figured out why Luke mentions Quirinius for the 3 BC period, but some think this Quirinius isn't the same guy as the governor in AD 6. Also, some say the term translated to governor from the Greek isn't explicitly the title for governor. We have a Hebrew Luke coming out soon, so I'll check then.
My issue is that we should start with the text. It is probably wrong if the solution doesn't match the actual account. The star led the wise men to Jerusalem, where they spoke to Herod. Heritage for them through his Jewish counselors, the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Matthew accounts that when the Wiseman from the east, more than likely Babylon from 300+ miles away, left Jerusalem. They saw the star again, and it read them just five short miles away to Bethlehem and stood over the house where the young Christ was. Questions: if they were from the east, some 300 miles or so away, they must've traveled for months day and night using their "star" Greek "ASTER" luminous object to guide their path. Again, to Jerusalem. And again from Jerusalem to Bethlehem. Whatever interpretation you might have it should at least match the facts of the original narrative. The Shekhinah makes sense for the shepherds. It doesn't make sense for the magi. Taking your good assertion re: following the text, as well as the piecemeal ideas of this video both dialed up to 11 and using actual Babylonian omens, take a look at Fred Baltz' piece on Patterns of Evidence. I think you'll find it edifying.
Another theory that's popular among astrologers is a Jupiter and Saturn conjunction. We had that one recently in 2020, which was a pivotal year for humanity to say the least. When these two planets are close together in the sky, from our point of view, they appear to be one big bright star. according to the chart that's displayed in this video and the date given, it would've happened sometime after the moon eclipsing Jupiter. Saturn is slower moving, so I think Jupiter would've been the one that caught up to Saturn so it's after this eclipse. It's very unfortunate that some religions teach not to follow astrology, and I think that's partly because it's deterministic by nature. This theory you gave in the video is a new one for me, so I appreciate the information! both are strong theories.
A very classic interpretation of a star is a very specific chain of planets that form a bright "star". Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus and Mercury in a five-planet conjunction, and although this chain was not the star in question, it has been given this name in addition to the Jupiter-Saturn and Jupiter-Venus conjunctions.
The concept of the "integral age" of a prophet is that the prophet died in the month or the very day in which they were conceived. This is rabbinic tradition, as I understand it. A conception date (rather than a birth date of April 17th) would allign with Passover in April of whichever year Jesus was crucified/ resurrected. It would also allign with Eastern Orthodox celebration of Christmas in January. And coincidentally, the Awassi sheep native to Israel would be birthing sheep in the fields in Israel in December/ January. (Shepherds keeping watch over their flocks by night.)
April 16th makes wayyyy more sense than December 25th. Shepherd's would be more likely out on the hills tending their flocks at this time of year as well. Great insights.
This is really intriguing, given the related sources citing the symbolism of Jupiter near the moon. Like many I thought one of the planets are the star. Specifically Venus, given its nearly two year cycle, and tendency to move about (e.g. west - southwest) over several months. It does some interesting things in about 8-7 BC, overtaking the other planets one by one each month,, but then again it often appears to do such things... hard to know the significance without corroborating evidence of its interpretation -- which Jupiter passing behind the moon seems to have. Not bad! Great vid and excited to check out your channel.
Alright, so I ran the date in Stellarium, and there's a potentially huge problem with this idea. The Moon at this time was nearly a New Moon, (the Full Moon was about 13 days prior) i.e. very difficult to see, although very early morning may have been possible. The occultation itself occurred mid-day and would have been very difficult, even impossible, to notice. It could have been inferred, perhaps. And certainly the Moon and Jupiter were visible close that morning, but it's worth noting that they are visibly close once each month, for the several months Jupiter passes overhead each year. I don't know how frequent occultations are, but this particular one would not have been visually remarkable, although it may have come with other signs or symbolism...
Interestingly that's actually something covered in the book. The author makes the case that it helps explain why it wasn't something everyone was aware of but just astrologers from the East who were calculating the positions of the planets and moon rather than relying on observation. Major props for using your resources though! I hadn't heard of Stellarium!
@@TheThinkingBeliever i still find this sequence intriguing: 9 BC, Venus Jun 12 - conjunction July 20 - overtakes Mercury *Oct 25 - overtakes Mars *Nov 26 - overtakes Jupiter *Dec 29 - overtakes Saturn Jan 1 - overtakes Uranus April 1 - conjunction Venus was in the constellation Virgo in Aug-Sep, before sweeping by the exterior planets, one each month, in sequence, and visually in very close proximity. I wonder how often that happens, and if it would have signified anything to astrologers. It looks striking in Stellarium ... it's indeed a pretty cool app 🙂
Magnificient! When you combine it with the other signs of the Magi, it was a sure thing that something momentous was happening. The Jews were expecting two messiahs of Deuteronomy 18. There was a nativity story for John the Baptist before there was one for Jesus. But both were to mark the beginning of the Age of Pisces. If we followed the same signs for the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, we would realize the world is about to change terribly. Because the messiahs were intended to foresage two returning objects in the heavens about to be unveiled at the End of Precession. Thank you for an awesome video!
The wise men showed up around two years later. Also, the shepherds saw the star two years earlier, they were nearby. This was either a recurring astronomical phenomenon, or it was a static, celestial event. The magi, would have seen this astrologically, and headed out at the inception of the phenomenon, and it was still there around two years later, sounds static to me.
On April 17 of 6 BC, The moon does not eclipse Jupiter until 12 30 in the afternoon as seen from the middle East, well into daylight hours. The independent verification you saw was with the atmosphere turned off in stellarium. With the atmosphere in the daytime the occultation is not visible so the entire theory falls apart
That's a really great observation! The point the book makes is that, similar to what is happening in a stellarium, ancient astrologers had mathematically mapped the movements of the planets, meaning they wouldn't need to be visible in order for astrologers to know what was happening. Hope that helps! I appreciate you chiming in!
Good job bro!! I would like to modify what you said about God doesn't like Astrology. God doesn't like any of His creations misused for false teachings. However, God has used Astronomy to communicate with the people of this earth, as you are aware of Psalm 19, Job 38:31-33, and Revelation 12. I liked your estimate of Jesus' birth. I stopped celebrating Christ Mass in 1979. I like the Biblical Holy Days anyway, more true, more prophetic. People forget Jesus and the disciples were Jewish.
Matthew 2:9 indicates this star did not behave as a typical astronomical body (planet, star, etc. moving in a great circular path across the sky between its rising and setting over the course of a night) by virtue of it “remaining over where the young child was”. “When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.” So if taken literally, and it was fixed over Bethlehem, the Magi’s roughly 1500 km (~930 mi) journey coming from “the east” (somewhere in Persia likely) took a couple weeks - which means in order for it to be seen constantly as fixed over Bethlehem from that distance, it had to be probably no lower than a good 30 to 45 deg above horizon so it wasn’t blocked by terrain. If so, geometry accounting for earths curvature shows the star was a good 400-700 thousand feet (roughly 700-1400 miles). And it had to be sufficiently bright to remain visible during the day so they could keep a fix on it to use for their navigational guide. For reference the low end of that possible height range (700-1400 miles) is the same classified as “low earth orbit” but way less than the 22000 mi required for geostationary orbit. The point is this was not a planet star comet etc nor was it obviously man made. www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-2-9/
Hey, you need to get this book by author Alex Tomaras: What was "the star of Bethlehem?" -Solved! It's small book, but it settles the issue once and for all.
Check out the possible that Jesus was born on Passover 7 BC. There are some interesting alignments at that time as well. Support for this is that when Jesus said he was before Elijah, the crowd says (paraphrasing) "How can you have been before Elijah? You aren't even 50 yet. Notice that the crowd did not say 40 yet. Further support is that people said they can not find records of this census. I believe that they are looking about 7 years too late so they are not finding anything. Food for thought.
Astonomer and Astrologer. These are two different things. They are ancient astronomers. Astronomers study the stars. Astrologers study how the stars steer people’s lives. Christians can be astronomers. Christians cannot be astrologers.
The Bible says the star went before them and stopped over the house where the young Jesus was. Your most compelling explanation ignores that important detail. I don't have any problem with the idea that God was performing a miracle.
Perspective makes everything in the sky, go before us. That phrase is early modern English for 'went/was in front of '. I wrote "Glossary to the KJV", so I know.
Interesting and it may be significant, but this doesn't seem remarkable enough to deem the Savior is born. I challenge you to continue your research into the significance of Virgo, Leo, Regulus, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus and Mars; Revelation 12 and the triple conjunction of Jupiter encircling Regulus which is the main (king) star in the constellation Leo - the symbol of Judea from which tribe the Messiah would be born. This conjunction occured at the same time three other planets (Mercury, Venus and Mars) were at the head of Virgo - the Virgin (Mary). These plenets in addition to the 9 stars that make up Leo, completed the 12 stars, or crown on the head of Virgo as well as the position of the sun and moon which we read in Revelation 12: "A great sign appeared in the Heavens, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under Her feet and on Her head, a crown of twelve stars..." I don't recall the exact date this starry dance occured, but between 3 BC and 2 BC, and the date of Sept 11-12th are significant; either the annunciation or birth. I don't recall because its to much to remember off hand. But much more convincing then any other explanation I've heard.
The star was a spaceship - UFOs are on God's side and are described all over the Bible. The ancient used semantic and called the spaceships, clouds, pillars, chariots and glory. The Bible talks about “clouds” going up and down with people going in and out (Exodus 24:18 - Moses entered the cloud). Clouds do not make those movements described in the Bible, but spaceships do. Jesus ascended in a “cloud” (Acts 1:9). God rides in a “cloud” (Isaiah 19:1, Psalm 104:3). Jesus will come back “with” the “clouds” (Mat 26:64, Rev 1:7). Jesus will come back commanding a fleet of starships. The church will be raptured “in” the “clouds” (I Thess. 4:17). Spaceships will be used to rapture the church. The ancient did not have vocabulary or knowledge to understand what they saw so they called the flying objects “clouds”, “chariots”, and “pillars”, because were the words they had to describe something flying in the sky. The Bible even tells in Psalm 68:17 how many spaceships are in the fleet “The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands” (about 20,000). There is a good research done by Patrick Cooke called “The Great Deception - The Bible UFO Connection” which has the original words describing spaceships. It is all over the Bible. Jesus is real. He is the savior of the world, but He is not seating in a puffy cloud. He is commanding a powerful army, which will take control of our planet and stop all wars. The Jews had contact with beings from another planetary system called The Elohim, commanded by The Most High God. The Elohim had to have a special covenant with humans to be able to save our planet from destruction. They got the agreement with the Jews, but the Jews were not faithful to the agreement so The Most High God sent Jesus to make a new covenant and have legal rights to save our planet from destruction. The Jews made a covenant with beings from another planetary system. Psalm 82:1-6 says that God presides over a great assembly. Something like a federation of planets. If you want to confirm what I am saying just look at a painting made in 1710 by someone that had access to the secret archives of the Vatican. Look at the paint " The Baptism of Christ" by Aert de Gelder. Now that we know more about science, we can understand the descriptions in the Bible. They described high technology but didn't have words to express. When they saw spaceships with strong lights they called "glory”. The "glory" of God was a spaceship with lights. In the interplanetary law the price to save us was innocent blood. That is why Jesus had to die for us. He was fulfilling a legal requirement. Put your knees on the floor and surrender your life to Jesus.
Learn the pagan story of the winter solstice and you will have your answer. The star you are referring to is the star Sirius. The three kings are the three stars in Orion's belt. I dare you to research this information!
The Star of Bethlehem is the triple conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in 7 BCE. There is a Rabbinic midrash that says the Messiah will appear two years after a triple conjunction. Jesus was born in 5 BCE. The next triple conjunction is 5999 Hebrew Calendar Year!
This is painful. Throw out everything you've been told about the star, everything you think you know about it, then read the full account of the star. Forget trying to figure out what it us and how it moves. Just look at what it does. The first thing it does is attract the attention of non-Israelites who practice a form of divination forbidden by law. Now, clearly the star is capable of leading these men to a destination. Again, forget trying to figure out how yet. Just look at the facts the account describes. It leads them. Why lead them to Harod instead of to Jesus? It's easy to claim it is so they can go to the scholars and determine where he is to be born. The problem with that is afterwards, when they set out to find Jesus, the star once again leads them and right to his house. Now, ask yourself, why? Why not just do that the first time? Why did a star leading foreigners using a forbidden practice lead them to Harod and then to Jesus? On top of that, why then come to them in a dream, and not through astrology, to warn them not to go back and see Harod? Isn't God at that point being inconsistent and fighting himself in why he lead them to Harod in the first place? Now add on how God earlier declared the birth of Jesus. He had an Angel appear to herders to plainly declare without the need of any divination that Jesus was born. Then he had many angels appear and praise his glories about it. God was not shy or secretive about it then. Also, he told Israelites in the immediate area who could go see Jesus while he was still in the manger. The word used for Jesus when the astrologers finally found him is one that can easily mean small child. What's more, Harod, when he realized they weren't coming back calculated the age of Jesus to have been up to 2 years old by that point. He got that from then the astrologers first saw the star, when Jesus was born. The account od the astrologers is depicted by many to be a positive one, probably because they were celebrating Jesus and gave his family expensive gifts that likely helped them considerably financially. Yet, they also attracted the attention of Harod, bringing danger to Jesus and threatening his life. Did God intentionally attract the attention of Harod to start the dominoes falling towards him sending out the order to kill many children? Is that something God would do? No. If you throw off all the pretty glow the Christmas nativity scenes place on the star and the astrologers, you find that their purpose was nefarious from beginning to end. They were manipulated dupes whose purpose was to lead danger directly to Jesus' doorstep so he would he killed while he was small and seemingly defenseless. God did not have anything to do with the star. If you pull back and look at the actions it took, it was clearly a manipulation of the Devil. Also, it wasn't a real star. First, the bible many times speaks of stars moving, but in most cases they are symbolic stars, not literal. We aren't told the specifics of the star in this account, but based on the description in the account, there is no reason at all to believe it was a real star. The account clearly indicates the astrologers spent considerable time with the scholars before moving on to finish finding Jesus. When Jesus was born, he was laid in a manger so long the herders found him still there. Yet the astrologers found him in his home. Also, again, the word used to describe Jesus was more suitable for small child rather than infant. No setup you can try to find regarding actual stars and planets will last that long. What the star was, we cannot claim to know. It was supernatural in nature. Even if the Devil just placed it in the minds of the astrologers and it was never present in the world. It doesn't matter what the star was. The account shows God thwarted it. God manipulated Satan's manipulation by having the astrologers give Joseph and Mary some wealth and then thwarted the Devil's plans by scaring them off through their dreams.
im not sure that the bible says you should not read the stars. But it does say there should be no divination. And modern astrology is divination, determining the future or onez fate by the stars. But Ancient astrology was about the times and what the God's were doing. It was about divine revealation, and i think the ancient jews were very familiar with it as were most peoples. When you see the stars most nights you tend to wonder what they are saying. Ive had God talk to me through the stars when i used to live in a tent.
The Holy Family didn't stay in Bethlehem. And the magi's trip took several months. Remember when Herod went after children, it was all children under two.
You really need to watch Rick Larson's Star of Bethlehem presentation. You're only covering two of the nine clues about the star, and you're looking in the wrong year. Also, the magi didn't associate Jerusalem with Aries because they weren't Roman. They associated Judea as a whole with Leo because the lion is the symbol of the tribe of Judah.
I would very much recommend that you actually study at least some of the Hebrew text of the old testament. God never condemns astrology except by the modern interpretation of it. The stars do not tell you what individuals are going to do in any great sense. However the Old Testament does require you to study the mazzaroth the mazzaroth is the old school astrology where the movements of the Stars tell you what the gods and what the most high God is going to do. And it spelled out quite clearly that this understanding of astronomy / the early astrology of the mazzaroth is required reading this is precisely why we have found Jewish temple sites with astrological symbols tiled on their floors. Because they were at one time required to study this. When they were taken into captivity, and to Babylon they were the ones who taught those who eventually became the wise man who came back to Judea add the birth of Christ how to study the stars. But they had forgotten it and had set it aside something that they were not supposed to be doing according to them. They had adopted an improper tradition. Have they been studying their Traditions they would have known that the Messiah was born on the day that he was and I have done the same studies and I found that date to be approximately April 17th of four BC not 6 BC. But because the calendar has been so badly fouled we may have some issues with that. However the reason we have the 25th of December is because there was a movement of Jupiter that circled in the sky after the wise men were in Israel and showed them that the birthplace was Bethlehem. Because we can actually replicate this it happening in the sky it would have been just about walking distance from where they were to Bethlehem on the 25th of December of two BC. About a year before the death of Herod but before that they had to leave because Herod tried to kill off all the children in that area. I will then explain to you why I believe it was 4bc not six BC Period there is Growing amount of evidence that Christ was crucified on Wednesday the 3rd of april, in the Gregorian calendar, the day before the high holy day of that week and there was only one of them and that was on Thursday. That would have been just a couple of weeks before Christ would have turned 34 years old. It's also of note to understand that that would have been Wednesday the 5th of April on the Julian calendar because of the fact that nobody used either of those calendars at that time. And by the time they tried to count backwards they were missing a couple of days or transposing numbers quite readily. Otherwise you have to find the 14 Nissan in the year 28 AD and I don't think that that works. I would suggest that you actually start studying at least astronomy so that you would understand that you are actually instructed to learn of the stars and what they mean because they mean things in the Heavenly realm, not necessarily always transitioning to the Earthly Realm. As above, So Below, that is also something you need to remember.
0:20 "By far the most compelling explanation, I've ever heard." --- It's almost damning by faint praise. 1. What does compelling really mean? 2. Do juries get to told to judge a case solely by the evidence in court and pick the most compelling? 3. Do Nobel prizes for science go to the most compelling theory? Then we have the qualification "I've ever heard!" How funny would we think the best joke about cancer I've ever heard, would be? Not, I think, the funniest ever joke. IMO, the truth is not always the most compelling story, in fact it is almost guaranteed to be either confusing, hum drum, or unpersuasive. Indeed compelling explanations are often the hallmarks of things that didn't actually happen! Fiction is more compelling than fact. A true story is stuck with the facts, and by their nature they are likely to boring, everyday and unfantatiscal! People looking for truth should steer clear of compelling IMO.
Don't forget about the Mazzaroth which is the Hebrew Zodiac, mentioned in the book of Job. Biblical astronomy is what we need to study. HIS story is told in the Zodiac. He was born of the Virgin (Virgo), the beginning, and rose to become the Great Lion of Judah (Leo) the end. Jesus said, "I am the beginning and the end." So Leo is Judah, not Aries. In the body of the Lion is the heart star "Regulus", which means, "king." Where the story, "The Lion King" originated. I recommend reading E.W. Bullinger's, "The Witness of the Stars". This is a very compelling book filled with eye-raisers. It could be that Jupiter passed through Virgo. See Revelation, chapter 12. "Crown of 12 stars, clothed with the sun, and the moon at her feet." This was the birth sign. We are actually told the birth sign. Now look for that date.
Youreally dont know enough and need more study. It was the 25th. The ancients would not have called the planet a star. Plus you have to explain that "the star went before them."
I agree that the planetary conjunction in Aries is the most rational explanation for the mostly legendary “Star of Bethlehem”. However, it should be noted that a similar conjunction occurred 20 years before and also 20 years later. If magi were looking for something like that to happen, they would have found nothing special in 2 out of 3 conjunctions within 40 years. Also, the same author of “Mathew” describes the star as positioning itself on top a specific house -which is completely dependent on one’s position in relation to the house. Actual stars don’t do that. Also, there are well known pagan traditions associating the birth of kings (and other prominent figures) with stars and other signs of the gods in the sky. One thing is to make an association between a particular event (like a person’s birth) and an otherwise random celestial coincidence, and another is to assume that an actual god made it happen.
*The Star in the east was a company of brightly shinning angels.* *Bible Symbology / Star = Angel* *....The seven stars are the angels* of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. *-Revelation 1:20* The eastern star was a company of angels that only appeared to the wise men. If it were a fixed star or a planet it would have been known to astronomers, kings, priests, scribes, shepherds and common folk alike. *Matthew 2:1, 2* -tells us that it led the wise men first to Jerusalem and then disappeared without anyone else seeing it. And later as the wise men departed for Bethlehem it reappears and leads them to the manger. (Verses 9,10). No one in Jerusalem seen the star reappear over Bethlehem when the wise men left or Herod would have followed it for himself and found Christ. Angels can appear, dissappear and then reappear, fixed stars and planets cannot, nor do they hover low directly over a city (Jerusalem) and then reappear and hover over a manger. Angels can show forth their bright shining glory and lead the wise men directly to the manger and yet be invisible to everyone else. Makes one pause and muse the traditional reasoning of a star or an angel being interchangeable on the top of a Christmas tree now, does it not? *God Bless You and Your Family This Christmas Season!*
*The Desire of Ages* *Chapter 6-"We have Seen His Star”* Audiobook available on TH-cam This chapter is based on Matthew 2 *“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the East to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the East, and are come to worship Him.”* DA 59.1 The wise men from the East were philosophers. They belonged to a large and influential class that included men of noble birth, and comprised much of the wealth and learning of their nation. Among these were many who imposed on the credulity of the people. Others were upright men who studied the indications of Providence in nature, and who were honored for their integrity and wisdom. Of this character were the wise men who came to Jesus. DA 59.2 The light of God is ever shining amid the darkness of heathenism. As these magi studied the starry heavens, and sought to fathom the mystery hidden in their bright paths, they beheld the glory of the Creator. Seeking clearer knowledge, they turned to the Hebrew Scriptures. In their own land were treasured prophetic writings that predicted the coming of a divine teacher. Balaam belonged to the magicians, though at one time a prophet of God; by the Holy Spirit he had foretold the prosperity of Israel and the appearing of the Messiah; and his prophecies had been handed down by tradition from century to century. But in the Old Testament the Saviour’s advent was more clearly revealed. The magi learned with joy that His coming was near, and that the whole world was to be filled with a knowledge of the glory of the Lord. DA 59.3 The wise men had seen a mysterious light in the heavens upon that night when the glory of God flooded the hills of Bethlehem. As the light faded, a luminous star appeared, and lingered in the sky. *It was not a fixed star nor a planet, and the phenomenon excited the keenest interest. That star was a distant company of shining angels,* but of this the wise men were ignorant. Yet they were impressed that the star was of special import to them. They consulted priests and philosophers, and searched the scrolls of the ancient records. The prophecy of Balaam had declared, *“There shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel.” Numbers **24:17**.* Could this strange star have been sent as a harbinger of the Promised One? The magi had welcomed the light of heaven-sent truth; now it was shed upon them in brighter rays. Through dreams they were instructed to go in search of the newborn Prince. DA 60.1 As by faith Abraham went forth at the call of God, *“not knowing whither he went”* *(Hebrews 11:8);* as by faith Israel followed the pillar of cloud to the Promised Land, so did these Gentiles go forth to find the promised Saviour. The Eastern country abounded in precious things, and the magi did not set out empty-handed. It was the custom to offer presents as an act of homage to princes or other personages of rank, and the richest gifts the land afforded were borne as an offering to Him in whom all the families of the earth were to be blessed. It was necessary to journey by night in order to keep the star in view; but the travelers beguiled the hours by repeating traditional sayings and prophetic utterances concerning the One they sought. At every pause for rest they searched the prophecies; and the conviction deepened that they were divinely guided. While they had the star before them as an outward sign, they had also the inward evidence of the Holy Spirit, which was impressing their hearts, and inspiring them with hope. The journey, though long, was a happy one to them. DA 60.2 They have reached the land of Israel, and are descending the Mount of Olives, with Jerusalem in sight, when, lo, the star that has guided them all the weary way rests above the temple, and after a season fades from their view. With eager steps they press onward, confidently expecting the Messiah’s birth to be the joyful burden of every tongue. But their inquiries are in vain. Entering the holy city, they repair to the temple. To their amazement they find none who seem to have a knowledge of the newborn king. Their questions call forth no expressions of joy, but rather of surprise and fear, not unmingled with contempt. DA 60.3 The priests are rehearsing traditions. They extol their religion and their own piety, while they denounce the Greeks and Romans as heathen, and sinners above others. The wise men are not idolaters, and in the sight of God they stand far higher than do these, His professed worshipers; yet they are looked upon by the Jews as heathen. Even among the appointed guardians of the Holy Oracles their eager questionings touch no chord of sympathy. DA 61.1 The arrival of the magi was quickly noised throughout Jerusalem. Their strange errand created an excitement among the people, which penetrated to the palace of King Herod. The wily Edomite was aroused at the intimation of a possible rival. Countless murders had stained his pathway to the throne. Being of alien blood, he was hated by the people over whom he ruled. His only security was the favor of Rome. But this new Prince had a higher claim. He was born to the kingdom. DA 61.2 Herod suspected the priests of plotting with the strangers to excite a popular tumult and unseat him from the throne. He concealed his mistrust, however, determined to thwart their schemes by superior cunning. Summoning the chief priests and the scribes, he questioned them as to the teaching of their sacred books in regard to the place of the Messiah’s birth. DA 61.3 This inquiry from the usurper of the throne, and made at the request of strangers, stung the pride of the Jewish teachers. The indifference with which they turned to the rolls of prophecy enraged the jealous tyrant. He thought them trying to conceal their knowledge of the matter. With an authority they dared not disregard, he commanded them to make close search, and to declare the birthplace of their expected King. *“And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet,* DA 62.1 *“And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah,* *Art in nowise least among the princes of Judah:* *For out of thee shall come forth a governor,* *Which shall be shepherd of My people Israel.”* R.V. DA 62.2 Herod now invited the magi to a private interview. A tempest of wrath and fear was raging in his heart, but he preserved a calm exterior, and received the strangers courteously. He inquired at what time the star had appeared, and professed to hail with joy the intimation of the birth of Christ. He bade his visitors, *“Search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found Him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship Him also.”* So saying, he dismissed them to go on their way to Bethlehem. DA 62.3 The priests and elders of Jerusalem were not as ignorant concerning the birth of Christ as they pretended. The report of the angels’ visit to the shepherds had been brought to Jerusalem, but the rabbis had treated it as unworthy of their notice. They themselves might have found Jesus, and might have been ready to lead the magi to His birthplace; but instead of this, the wise men came to call their attention to the birth of the Messiah. *“Where is He that is born King of the Jews?”* they said; *“for we have seen His star in the East, and are come to worship Him.”* DA 62.4 Now pride and envy closed the door against the light. If the reports brought by the shepherds and the wise men were credited, they would place the priests and rabbis in a most unenviable position, disproving their claim to be the exponents of the truth of God. These learned teachers would not stoop to be instructed by those whom they termed heathen. It could not be, they said, that God had passed them by, to communicate with ignorant shepherds or uncircumcised Gentiles. They determined to show their contempt for the reports that were exciting King Herod and all Jerusalem. They would not even go to Bethlehem to see whether these things were so. And they led the people to regard the interest in Jesus as a fanatical excitement. Here began the rejection of Christ by the priests and rabbis. From this point their pride and stubbornness grew into a settled hatred of the Saviour. While God was opening the door to the Gentiles, the Jewish leaders were closing the door to themselves. DA 62.5
The wise men departed alone from Jerusalem. The shadows of night were falling as they left the gates, but to their great joy they again saw the star, and were directed to Bethlehem. They had received no such intimation of the lowly estate of Jesus as was given to the shepherds. After the long journey they had been disappointed by the indifference of the Jewish leaders, and had left Jerusalem less confident than when they entered the city. At Bethlehem they found no royal guard stationed to protect the newborn King. None of the world’s honored men were in attendance. Jesus was cradled in a manger. His parents, uneducated peasants, were His only guardians. Could this be He of whom it was written, that He should *“raise up the tribes of Jacob,”* and *“restore the preserved of Israel;”* that He should be *“a light to the Gentiles,”* and for *“salvation unto the end of the earth”? Isaiah 49:6* DA 63.1 *“When they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshiped Him.”* Beneath the lowly guise of Jesus, they recognized the presence of Divinity. They gave their hearts to Him as their Saviour, and then poured out their gifts, *-“gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”* What a faith was theirs! It might have been said of the wise men from the East, as afterward of the Roman centurion, *“I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.”* *Matthew 8:10* DA 63.2 The wise men had not penetrated Herod’s design toward Jesus. When the object of their journey was accomplished, they prepared to return to Jerusalem, intending to acquaint him with their success. But in a dream they received a divine message to hold no further communication with him. Avoiding Jerusalem, they set out for their own country by another route. DA 64.1 In like manner Joseph received warning to flee into Egypt with Mary and the child. And the angel said, *“Be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him.”* Joseph obeyed without delay, setting out on the journey by night for greater security. DA 64.2 Through the wise men, God had called the attention of the Jewish nation to the birth of His Son. Their inquiries in Jerusalem, the popular interest excited, and even the jealousy of Herod, which compelled the attention of the priests and rabbis, directed minds to the prophecies concerning the Messiah, and to the great event that had just taken place. DA 64.3 Satan was bent on shutting out the divine light from the world, and he used his utmost cunning to destroy the Saviour. But He who never slumbers nor sleeps was watching over His beloved Son. He who had rained manna from heaven for Israel and had fed Elijah in the time of famine provided in a heathen land a refuge for Mary and the child Jesus. And through the gifts of the magi from a heathen country, the Lord supplied the means for the journey into Egypt and the sojourn in a land of strangers. DA 65.1 The magi had been among the first to welcome the Redeemer. Their gift was the first that was laid at His feet. And through that gift, what privilege of ministry was theirs! The offering from the heart that loves, God delights to honor, giving it highest efficiency in service for Him. If we have given our hearts to Jesus, we also shall bring our gifts to Him. Our gold and silver, our most precious earthly possessions, our highest mental and spiritual endowments, will be freely devoted to Him who loved us, and gave Himself for us. DA 65.2 Herod in Jerusalem impatiently awaited the return of the wise men. As time passed, and they did not appear, his suspicions were roused. The unwillingness of the rabbis to point out the Messiah’s birthplace seemed to indicate that they had penetrated his design, and that the magi had purposely avoided him. He was maddened at the thought. Craft had failed, but there was left the resort to force. He would make an example of this child-king. Those haughty Jews should see what they might expect in their attempts to place a monarch on the throne. DA 65.3 Soldiers were at once sent to Bethlehem, with orders to put to death all the children of two years and under. The quiet homes of the city of David witnessed those scenes of horror that, six hundred years before, had been opened to the prophet. *“In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.”* DA 65.4 This calamity the Jews had brought upon themselves. If they had been walking in faithfulness and humility before God, He would in a signal manner have made the wrath of the king harmless to them. But they had separated themselves from God by their sins, and had rejected the Holy Spirit, which was their only shield. They had not studied the Scriptures with a desire to conform to the will of God. They had searched for prophecies which could be interpreted to exalt themselves, and to show how God despised all other nations. It was their proud boast that the Messiah was to come as a king, conquering His enemies, and treading down the heathen in His wrath. Thus they had excited the hatred of their rulers. Through their misrepresentation of Christ’s mission, Satan had purposed to compass the destruction of the Saviour; but instead of this, it returned upon their own heads. DA 65.5 This act of cruelty was one of the last that darkened the reign of Herod. Soon after the slaughter of the innocents, he was himself compelled to yield to that doom which none can turn aside. He died a fearful death. DA 66.1 Joseph, who was still in Egypt, was now bidden by an angel of God to return to the land of Israel. Regarding Jesus as the heir of David’s throne, Joseph desired to make his home in Bethlehem; but learning that Archelaus reigned in Judea in his father’s stead, he feared that the father’s designs against Christ might be carried out by the son. Of all the sons of Herod, Archelaus most resembled him in character. Already his succession to the government had been marked by a tumult in Jerusalem, and the slaughter of thousands of Jews by the Roman guards. DA 66.2 Again Joseph was directed to a place of safety. He returned to Nazareth, his former home, and here for nearly thirty years Jesus dwelt, *“that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.”* Galilee was under the control of a son of Herod, but it had a much larger admixture of foreign inhabitants than Judea. Thus there was less interest in matters relating especially to the Jews, and the claims of Jesus would be less likely to excite the jealousy of those in power. DA 66.3 Such was the Saviour’s reception when He came to the earth. There seemed to be no place of rest or safety for the infant Redeemer. God could not trust His beloved Son with men, even while carrying forward His work for their salvation. He commissioned angels to attend Jesus and protect Him till He should accomplish His mission on earth, and die by the hands of those whom He came to save. DA 67.1
⁷ And of the angels he saith, *Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.* *-Hebrews 1:7* *¹⁷ The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels:* the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. *-Psalm 68:17* ² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: *for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.* *-Hebrews 13:2* *....The seven stars are the angels* of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. *-Revelation 1:20* *"The Bible is it own expositore"* ¹⁰ For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: *-Isaiah 28:10* *[referring to the Bereans]* ¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, *in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.* *-Acts 17:11*
This is what i believe also. Another interesting thing are angels are also known as saints. Job 15:15 is clear evidence. Job 15: 15Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight. There was no man in heaven at this point so this has to be angels

Maybe it was Satan who made the star appear to the mages and send them to Herod so he could order the murder of all the young children (like Pharo once did) in order for christ to die literally still in the crib if not for divine intervention?
@ it’s not letting me post website links here, but you should do more research because comets were interpreted based on a myriad of things by the Romans, Greeks, Persians, and Chinese in the ancient world. While a lot of times they were seen as bad omens, they were also sometimes hailed as good omens. They were judged based on how bright they were, how long the tails were, what direction they were headed across the night sky, what constellation appeared in their backdrop, etcetera. Usually an especially bright comet was considered a sign of good things by the Persians in particular, and the Magi spoken of in Matthew’s gospel were likely Persian in their origin. Keep in mind that these practices were a form of divination and Christians have no reason to take insight from divination practices. That said, whatever sign in the sky the Magi were concerned with may have had something to do with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah saying something that the Magi in the East recorded and were watching for across the generations unto the birth of Jesus Christ. It’s important to remember that these men of GOD served as Magi in both the Babylonian and Medo-Persian courts, so things they prophesied that aren’t recorded in the book of Daniel itself may have been taken seriously and recorded by their fellow Magi. I only postulate that because this is a rare occurrence in scripture where a sign seen in the night sky that was interpreted by pagans had its interpretation endorsed by GOD, and since the Magi of Persia were indeed pagan mystics, there’s logic in thinking a prophet of GOD gave them the correct interpretation of this sign in the heaven in the past and they were watching out for it to come to pass for generations. Either way, I’m not sure why you think all comets were seen as bad signs by the ancients, that’s just not the case. Solar Eclipses on the other were basically universally feared as a sign of a coming judgement throughout the ancient world with very few exceptions to the contrary.
The star of Bethlehem needs no explanation by astronomers. The Magi were stargazers (not astrologers) who obtained revelations from the stars which were believed to be angels or homes of angels (Rev 1:20). The Magi saw a vision which had no physical basis. Since more than one Magi saw the same vision, it gave it great authority. In addition to the star, they received information about the birth of Christ. Since the Magi were likely Zoroastrians, they were expecting the arrival of the saoshyant, their understanding of the new savior for humanity.
That also did happen, in 7 BC. I also thought maybe that was significant, but have to say this seems more compelling given the related interpretations.
Thanks for all your work. I’ve been watching your videos for several years now (back when you took really long breaks between posts haha). I’d be curious to know your thoughts on Michael Heiser’s approach to the star of Bethlehem. He favors an autumn date around the feast of trumpets. th-cam.com/video/Dz1ZFkz1QtA/w-d-xo.html
Hi Dave! I've only made it about halfway through, but I wanted to respond before I forgot. I agree with a lot of what he says about setting, etc. but I do prefer Molnar's explanation. I tend to be skeptical of any interpretation that uses Revelation as the primary scriptural reference--there is just so little interpretive consensus around many of the passages that I want to be cautious about putting to much weight on any understanding that leans heavily on something in Revelation. Beyond that, what makes Molnar's explanation superior (in my opinion) is that it starts with the ancient understanding and goes from there, rather than looking for unusual things (like the star configuration in revelation) and saying "this is probably it." Those are my two cents. Thanks for sharing and watching!
Star of bethlehem is wormwood is lucifer fallen down Amos 5:5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought. Amos 5:6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel. Amos 5:7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth, Amos 5:8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name
Why trying to explain something that most probably never happened? Matthew and Luke made the whole story up. Marc and John have no story about Jesus' birth at all, which would be very strange, if all the supposed miracles around Jesus' birth were true. Secondly Matthew and Luke tell two completely different stories. Thirdly they even contradict each other three times. Jesus was born in Nazareth, there was no star.
Bright star why don’t you read Simon Greenleaf founder of Harvard Law and *THE AUTHORITY* in regards to evidence writings so you could get a clue what testimony accounts look like

I DISCOVERED THAT HALLEY´S COMET IS THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM. On August 23, 2018, in my "Colombian Arithmetic Reconciliation Between History and Astronomy" in excel, I discovered that: 1) Halley's comet is the same Biblical Star of Bethlehem. 2) After the year 1066 A.D., there is an error (8 years extra). The year 1986 was really 1978 A.D., and the year 2018 was really the year 2010 A.D. 3) The German version of Ghost Time, which says that 297 false years were added to history during the period (614 - 911 AD) is not correct because during that time there were historic sightings of Halley's comet (837 A.D.,sighted during the reign of Ludovico Pío or Louis the Pious, and was reported by a chronicler nicknamed "The Astronomer" ), and there is no remainder of 297 years either. Going back in time with periods of 76.03 years, since 1066 when William the Conqueror spotted the comet, I found that the Halley's comet had its perihelion in year 1 of the Christian era and in the year 837 a.D., in the time of King Louis I. We are currently in the year 2024, however really this is the year 2016 a. D., because there is an error (eight-years) in the allocations of historical dates in the first 8 years, it may be because dates were always calculated based on periods of 75 or 76 years, but the exact period of Halley 's comet is 76.03 years, accumulating 8 years, or perhaps because at some point after the year 1066 AD, historians noticed that there is an error (8 years) in the assignment of historical events during the first 8 years of the Christian era and possibly those historians (clerics) thought that the error could be corrected by adding 8 years, but that was not the correct solution, It is necessary to relocate the assignment of historical events during the first 8 years. Whatever it may have been, after the year 1066 A.D., there are 8 extra years until today 2024 A.D (2016 years since the birth of Jesus The Messiah). Going back in time with exact periods of 76.03 years, from the last perihelion of Halley's Comet in 1986 to the oldest record (China 2290 BC), it is observed that the perihelion of the year 1074 AD corresponds to the historical sighting recorded with date 1066 AD (when Halley's Comet was observed in Normandy and England by William the Conqueror) giving rise to a current accumulated difference of eight (8) years, between the date of historical record (1066) and the date that is supposed to correspond to the exact perihelion (1074). Therefore, if those eight (8) years of difference are subtracted from the date of the last perihelion of the year 1986, we obtain that the year 1986 should be the year 1978. Taking the exact year 1978 as a starting point and Going back in time (subtracting or subtracting) with exact periods of 76.03 years, it is observed that Halley's Comet had its correct perihelion in the year 1065 or 1066 (when it was sighted by William the Conqueror), it also coincides with the historical record from the year 837 when it was sighted by King Louis I (the Pious), reported by a chronicler called "the Astronomer", but also and most importantly, it can be observed that Halley's Comet had its perihelion in the first year, or year one (1) of the Christian Era or time after Christ a.D.
We use Gregorian calendar, at Jesus time they have Julian calendar. Between them have 11 days difference. I copy from one Quora answer: Up until October 4th (a Thursday) of 1582 in the Julian calendar, which was followed the next day by October 15th, (a Friday) of 1582, the first actual day of the Gregorian calendar. No day of the week breaks, just days in the year’s calendar. Your answer have as reference today. When we talk about 730000 days ago (2000 year) with precision we need a software incorporating the conversion of Gregorian days (as if existed at that time) to Julian days (which really exist at that time), considering no break at week days, at least.
@@RF-fi2pt Thank you for your interest. However, there are not 11 days of difference for each year, but 10 days of total accumulated difference from the year 46 BC to the year 1582 after Christ. This is what the Gegorian Calendar ("Calendario Gregoriano") article says on Wikipedia (in Spanish), I'll translate it for you: "At the Council of Nicea it was determined that Easter should be commemorated on the Sunday following the full moon after the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere (autumn equinox in the southern hemisphere). That year 325 the equinox had occurred on March 21, but with the passage of time the date of the event had moved forward to the point that in 1582, the gap was already 10 days, and the equinox that same year of 1582 was dated March 11. The gap came from a. inaccurate calculation of the number of days that the tropic year has; according to the Julian calendar that instituted a leap year every four, it was considered that the tropic year was made up of 365.25 days, while the correct figure is 365.2422, or which is the same, 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45.10 seconds. Those more than 11 minutes counted in addition to each year had meant in the 1257 years between 325 and 1582 an accumulated error of approximately 10 days."
Have you heard of this fist century coin with a ram ( Aries) which designated the region of Syria, and the interplay of the planets Jupiter and Saturn re the sun and moon rising in the east? This appears to confirm the 6 BC date. th-cam.com/video/HFl6JS9zobI/w-d-xo.html
Call me crazy, but if I was trying to write a believable story of Jesus’ birth, I would have scraped the entire “Star of David” event. If you had to travel from Persia to Jerusalem that night, the star would have moved from its original position and, given the lack of technology at the time (ex. telescope) the Magi would not have been able to determine the star was directly above the city. There’s far too much contradiction between the four Gospels and the fact that the authors waited at least a half-century to begin writing is suspect.
Half a century? Who told you that? Even conservative estimates place the Gospels much earlier than Paul's writings, and Paul's writings were earlier than 70 A.D. But even if it was longer it wouldn't really change anything. Also, what contradictions? You mean their different perspectives?
@ John wrote his crazy gospel more than 60 years later. Matthew and Luke waited until the 80s AD. Mark was definitely before 50 years, that’s true, but it was at least 30/35 years later. After Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension, none of the Apostles or his disciples said to them themselves: maybe we should write about the life of the messiah while it’s still fresh in our minds. Paul didn’t even convert until a few years after Christ’s death. If I’m not mistaken, Paul died in Rome before any of the Gospels were finished. I agree that plenty of what’s written in the Gospels’ is very similar, it would be suspicious to have differing accounts, but that’s not always the case. Matthew and Luke used Mark as a primary source. Each was written anonymously, so they may have been second-hand accounts. Other unknown authors also expanded and added new material shortly after and later on, such as the men designated “Q” and “J” by biblical scholars. The Old and New Testament are mythological in my view. I’m way too tired to write effectively right now. I’m sorry. It’s okay to disagree. Take care.
Wow.. jumps in logic so long you should be an olympic champion long jumper. And a world champion in ignoring awkward information. And confirmation bias… which is what all religion relies on. But they call it “faith”. I always take believers’ searches for “proof” as signs of doubt, a lack of confidence in their *beliefs* . And the fact that they make so much noise about it, like you do, is a huge case of “the lady doth protest too much”.
Ha! Well, they aren't exactly my jumps in logic, I'm just summarizing the case this author is making. And I'm really taking the opposite approach of trying to use this as proof. This is a passage of scripture that has always seemed nonsensical to me. To take one small example, the passage says "the star went ahead of them and it stopped", which isn't how stars behave. You can either believe that the author and his audience were stupid and ignorant of the basic behavior of stars, or you can leave open the possibility that there's something I don't understand here about what they're trying to communicate. Until I read this theory I had never heard anything that seemed to offer a plausible explanation for what they author was trying to communicate (whether or not someone believes it to be true). Are there any parts of what you believe that you are still wrestling with or do you feel like you've got everything figured out?
@ While i agree the (unknown) authors were trying to convey meaning, a message, i wholly disagree that they somehow knew, at least 70 or so years later after hearing about it second, third, or fourth hand? I mean, it’s not like there’s a gospel, or any other writings, that recorded this supposed train of events at the time - as you say, the Jewish scribes, Rabbis/Priests et al wouldn’t know about or care about astrology. Who told the gospel authors? What about the unresolvable differences between the accounts of the nativity in Matthew and Luke? Yes, they’re trying to communicate something, but in my opinion they were using a fictional story, filled with allegory and “prophesy” to do so. Thanks for replying though. I hope you have a happy new year.
Great video but you made a false statement. Yes God does call astrology a sin the jews still practiced astrology. The gematria, kabballah and jewish esoteric doctrines mastered astrology.
Fascinating! That's not something I've heard before. Could you point me in the direction of a source I could look at to learn more? I've always heard the opposite so I'd be curious to learn more. Thanks for sharing!
Who cares? There was a star of some sort, whatever it was made of, it was seen as a star. This question has been and will be debated until the end of time. Why won't people give it up and consider the one of whom the star Spoke? Let's stop the wasted time of the speculative and know God and his son Jesus Christ. John 17:3, this is eternal life.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 You use a bunch of science to try to explain what your myth says happened and then attribute the natural events of the universe to your magical sky daddy?!?!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Zero credibility, dude.
close but no cigar. Jesus was born on sep. 11, 3BC because you accept a wrong date for the death of Herod the great. for 1800+ years the death of Herod the great was accepted to be between dec. 29 1BC and passover of 1AD. God has a sense of humor. 3BC coincided with the 750th anniversary of Rome. and the following year, on Feb. 2BC Augustus received the title Pater Patria. it is because of these that the emperor issued a census of the empire. the same year Augustus referred to himself as divi filius, son of god, the real Son of God was revealed to the magi (the gentiles, the world), the epiphany. the puns do not work for 6BC. God has great comedic timing
LOL! How utterly wrong. The star of Bethlehem is Sirius followed by the three Shepards, (the three stars forming Onions belt). Bethlehem is the season or month of December, (not a town). It seems like someone put little effort in doing their research. Read up on ancient astromythology. Your asserted fallacies are ludicrous.
The Star of Bethlehem was a spacecraft that God's angels travel in. That is why it went over the place of Jesus' (Yashua's) birth, it operated in our atmosphere. It was not in space, even though that is where it came from. In the cloud that Jesus was taken up into was a spacecraft that took him to the throne of God, and it took ten days to get there, at incredible speed, as he said he would send the holy spirit when he arrived at the throne of God, and he left after 40 days of being here after the resurrection, and Pentecost was 50 days after his resurrection. It was a spacecraft that shined the very bright light down on Saul (who was renamed Paul) on the road to Damascus. If you make it into the Kingdom when the second coming happens, you will observe the spacecraft on the ground and you will be told, "That was the star of Bethlehem". When you see the International Space Station go overhead, it looks like a moving star.
@@TheThinkingBeliever Its not a belief, it is a fact. When the second coming happens there will be thousands of spacecraft surrounding the Earth, to fight a battle with the armies of the "Kings of the Earth", in which Jesus and the angels will be victorious, and we (the true Christians) will come back down with them to take over the Earth for 1,000 years.
@@TheThinkingBeliever Read Revelation 19:19, where it states that the armies of the Earth prepare to make battle against Jesus and his angels. They are preparing now, as they have seen amazing vehicles in the sky that they cannot explain how they can fly and where they came from, as per a "60 minutes" episode last year, where Fighter Pilots cannot explain the incredible vehicles they have seen, most over the ocean, where they seem to be able to go at tremendous speeds even under water and in the sky. It is just logical that God's angels (who we would call "Aliens") would have to have a way to get here from somewhere far away in space (heaven). They cannot swim through space, and the Bible states that the Star of Bethlehem moved and hovered over the place where Jesus was born. A star or other object up in space cannot move and go over Bethlehem. Isn't it suspicious that when Jesus was taken up, it was a cloud that he was taken up into? Was that cloud hiding something? I think so, as if they saw what was in that cloud they would be very afraid. When we are taken up in the rapture, it will be by the same method that Jesus was taken up, maybe you would call it a "tractor beam", but we are not aware of that technology, maybe it cancels gravity, or causes a REVERSAL of gravity, so the person is repelled away from the Earth, just like taking two magnets and flipping one around, they repel instead of attract. The International Space Station appears to be a moving star, so that is what the ancient people would call it, because they would not know any better.
Fascinating Thought. There is a decent amount of medieval art that also shows men inside "stars" or ,, what looks like a comet zooming over the sky.. One of the old painting's has a decent looking "modern" looking "UFO"
The star was not a star in the sense we think of them! It was rather the "shekinah" glory of God, that led the children of Israel through the wilderness for 40 years! God sent his glory to lead the wise men to Jesus and it stood over the place where Jesus lay!
I highly recommend the 2007 Documentary on this website titled "The Star of Bethlehem" explained by Rick Larson who did a deep dive using the Bible and modern Astronomy software. He identified 9 clues in the Bible to show what the Star of Bethlehem would be. FYI a "Star of Bethlehem" appeared in 2015 for the first time in 2000 years and was a conjunction of Venus & Jupiter in June of 2 B.C. which is the date of Jesus' birth. This made the news 8 years ago if you Google it. A comment below says the birth date as in September of 3 B.C., that's actually the day of Annunciation. Even if you go to a planetarium at Christmas time today they will point out this Jupiter/Venus conjunction from June of 2 B.C. The Magi gave their gifts to Jesus on 12/25 of 2 B.C. as Jesus was a toddler at this point, which matches Matthew's original Greek where he is called a "piteon" (Greek for toddler). We have to remember Mary "stored all of these things in her heart" so she committed to memory all the events surrounding the birth of Jesus and relayed them to the Apostles to write down.
People need to really think about Our eternal father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. God is a All knowing all seeing God that looks down from Heaven. The star was not a star at all, It was a spacecraft with lights that the people of that time thought was a star. God is eternal that comes down from heaven. Think people, this all makes sense. He is not bound by this dimension but has power over all, with his angles. Glory be to God and his son Jesus Christ and the Holy spirit.
Of course Aries is looking back at the star because Aries is before Pisces, which was the birth of Christ Pisces the fish Jesus Christ was born on September 11 and his glory is written in the heavens
1. Jesus was born Sunday March 1, 7BC in Bethlehem of Judea, a residential complex about a kilometer from Qumran. It was originally a palace for Hasmonean royalty. It was called the 'Queen's House'. 2. The West Manassah Magi were a priestly caste of Samaritan philosophers. They were founded by Menahem and later led by Simon Zelotes. 3. The 'Star of Bethlehem' was not a cosmological or astronomical event. Joseph (Jesus' father) formed an alliance with Theudas, head of the Theraputes. The 2 in warrior mode gave themselves titles drawn from an OT verse. Joseph was the 'Star' (of David) & Theudas was the 'Scepter'. When the West Manassah Magi 'followed the star', they were agreeing with Joseph that a new Davidic king had been born. Because they recognized him as king, they were accepting him as legitimate. 4. In Septermber, 6 months after Jesus' birth (the month he should have been born in), they came to him & gave him the gold (kingship), frankincense (priesthood ) & myrrh (wisdom/knowledge). Also, Herod died in 4BC. That's why it was said that Jesus was born in the latter reign of Herod the Great.
March 20. Jesus was a Pisces. "I will make you fishers of men." And the fish was a symbol of Christianity long before the cross. If Jesus had been born in April he'd have been either an Aries or a Taurus.
Good video man!
I was about to type this on the comments. Daniel has a lot to do with why the Magi looked out into the stars for a sign.
I have pointed that out for years now. Daniel is a major figure in Persia. His tomb was kept and venerated there for centuries.
I love how you tied up the message of how God meets is where we’re at. (Heb 1:1-2)
Dude!! Rob this is so good. Thanks for all the work!
Thanks Kyle! I appreciate it!

The King Planet (Jupiter) was in the belly of Virgo (Virgin) for 9 months because of retrograde motion.

What I've gathered so far:
Jesus was born on 9/11/3 BC (approx.
I think you'll find it edifying.

thank you for your valuable work.
I love "the God who meets us where we are" ❤
The concept of the "integral age" of a prophet is that the prophet died in the month or the very day in which they were conceived.
Flocks need tending year round. Especially in cold weather when hungry predators are prevalent.
@@TheThinkingBeliever i still find this sequence intriguing:
9 BC, Venus
Jun 12 - conjunction
July 20 - overtakes Mercury
*Oct 25 - overtakes Mars
*Nov 26 - overtakes Jupiter
*Dec 29 - overtakes Saturn
Jan 1 - overtakes Uranus
April 1 - conjunction
Venus was in the constellation Virgo in Aug-Sep, before sweeping by the exterior planets, one each month, in sequence, and visually in very close proximity.
This reminds me of the Paul Harvey Christmas story, where got talks to people in their own language. 9:12
Took 2 video to subscribe but your good at making / telling things about the Bible not to bias. Keep up the good news!
Thanks for the encouragement! It really means a lot!
I highly recommend that you'll search out what Chuck Missler taught on this subject.
That sounds cool, but what about them seeing the star again when they came to Bethlehem?
thank you for this!
Is he Hungarian, because Molnár is a common surname here, meaning Miller?
Matthew 2:9 indicates this star did not behave as a typical astronomical body (planet, star, etc. moving in a great circular path across the sky between its rising and setting over the course of a night) by virtue of it “remaining over where the young child was”.
“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.”
So if taken literally, and it was fixed over Bethlehem, the Magi’s roughly 1500 km (~930 mi) journey coming from “the east” (somewhere in Persia likely) took a couple weeks - which means in order for it to be seen constantly as fixed over Bethlehem from that distance, it had to be probably no lower than a good 30 to 45 deg above horizon so it wasn’t blocked by terrain.

Very cool
HUH? Christians cannot be astrologists?
The biggest share of astrologers are Christians.
Your assertion is ludicrous.
@aprilmay578 Huh? You're joking?
Astrologers cannot be mob bosses.
The Magi were both
in premodern times, there was not a distinction between astronomy and astrology...
@SamWicker-su7rp
LOL
Great presentation!
Awesome channel
Additional. These motions occured in ~3 BC. And that agrees with other approaches to the year of Christ's birth.
Interesting. Let me check other vid on this.
Johnathan Cahn has a video about the birth of Christ date, it is definitely worth a watch!
0:20 "By far the most compelling explanation, I've ever heard."
---
It's almost damning by faint praise.
1. What does compelling really mean?
2. Do juries get to told to judge a case solely by the evidence in court and pick the most compelling?
3. Do Nobel prizes for science go to the most compelling theory?
Then we have the qualification "I've ever heard!"
How funny would we think the best joke about cancer I've ever heard, would be?
Not, I think, the funniest ever joke.
IMO, the truth is not always the most compelling story, in fact it is almost guaranteed to be either confusing, hum drum, or unpersuasive. Indeed compelling explanations are often the hallmarks of things that didn't actually happen!
Fiction is more compelling than fact. A true story is stuck with the facts, and by their nature they are likely to boring, everyday and unfantatiscal!
People looking for truth should steer clear of compelling IMO.
The problem is that astrologers of the East would probably not been using Greco-Roman astrology, but Zoroastrian. Jimmy Akin goes into this.
Now look for that date.
agree
*The Star in the east was a company of brightly shinning angels.*
*Bible Symbology / Star = Angel*
*....The seven stars are the angels* of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
*-Revelation 1:20*
The eastern star was a company of angels that only appeared to the wise men.

*Chapter 6-"We have Seen His Star”*
Audiobook available on TH-cam
This chapter is based on Matthew 2
*“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the East to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the East, and are come to worship Him.”*
DA 59.1
The wise men from the East were philosophers.
DA 59.2
The light of God is ever shining amid the darkness of heathenism.
DA 59.3
The wise men had seen a mysterious light in the heavens upon that night when the glory of God flooded the hills of Bethlehem.
DA 60.1
As by faith Abraham went forth at the call of God, *“not knowing whither he went”*
*(Hebrews 11:8);* as by faith Israel followed the pillar of cloud to the Promised Land, so did these Gentiles go forth to find the promised Saviour.
DA 60.2
They have reached the land of Israel, and are descending the Mount of Olives, with Jerusalem in sight, when, lo, the star that has guided them all the weary way rests above the temple, and after a season fades from their view.
DA 60.3
The priests are rehearsing traditions.
DA 61.1
The arrival of the magi was quickly noised throughout Jerusalem.
DA 61.2
Herod suspected the priests of plotting with the strangers to excite a popular tumult and unseat him from the throne. He concealed his mistrust, however, determined to thwart their schemes by superior cunning. Summoning the chief priests and the scribes, he questioned them as to the teaching of their sacred books in regard to the place of the Messiah’s birth.
DA 61.3
This inquiry from the usurper of the throne, and made at the request of strangers, stung the pride of the Jewish teachers. The indifference with which they turned to the rolls of prophecy enraged the jealous tyrant. He thought them trying to conceal their knowledge of the matter. With an authority they dared not disregard, he commanded them to make close search, and to declare the birthplace of their expected King. *“And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet,*
DA 62.1
*“And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah,*
*Art in nowise least among the princes of Judah:*
*For out of thee shall come forth a governor,*
*Which shall be shepherd of My people Israel.”*
R.V.
DA 62.2
Herod now invited the magi to a private interview.
DA 62.3
The priests and elders of Jerusalem were not as ignorant concerning the birth of Christ as they pretended. *“Where is He that is born King of the Jews?”* they said; *“for we have seen His star in the East, and are come to worship Him.”*
DA 62.4
Now pride and envy closed the door against the light.
Isaiah 49:6*
DA 63.1
*“When they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshiped Him.”* Beneath the lowly guise of Jesus, they recognized the presence of Divinity. They gave their hearts to Him as their Saviour, and then poured out their gifts, *-“gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”* What a faith was theirs! It might have been said of the wise men from the East, as afterward of the Roman centurion, *“I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.”*
*Matthew 8:10*
DA 63.2
The wise men had not penetrated Herod’s design toward Jesus. When the object of their journey was accomplished, they prepared to return to Jerusalem, intending to acquaint him with their success. But in a dream they received a divine message to hold no further communication with him. Avoiding Jerusalem, they set out for their own country by another route.
DA 64.1
In like manner Joseph received warning to flee into Egypt with Mary and the child. And the angel said, *“Be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him.”* Joseph obeyed without delay, setting out on the journey by night for greater security.
DA 64.2
Through the wise men, God had called the attention of the Jewish nation to the birth of His Son. Their inquiries in Jerusalem, the popular interest excited, and even the jealousy of Herod, which compelled the attention of the priests and rabbis, directed minds to the prophecies concerning the Messiah, and to the great event that had just taken place.
DA 64.3
Satan was bent on shutting out the divine light from the world, and he used his utmost cunning to destroy the Saviour.
DA 65.1
The magi had been among the first to welcome the Redeemer.
DA 65.2
Herod in Jerusalem impatiently awaited the return of the wise men.
DA 65.3
Soldiers were at once sent to Bethlehem, with orders to put to death all the children of two years and under. The quiet homes of the city of David witnessed those scenes of horror that, six hundred years before, had been opened to the prophet. *“In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.”*
DA 65.4
This calamity the Jews had brought upon themselves.
DA 65.5
This act of cruelty was one of the last that darkened the reign of Herod. Soon after the slaughter of the innocents, he was himself compelled to yield to that doom which none can turn aside. He died a fearful death.
DA 66.1
Joseph, who was still in Egypt, was now bidden by an angel of God to return to the land of Israel.
DA 66.2
Again Joseph was directed to a place of safety.
DA 66.3
Such was the Saviour’s reception when He came to the earth.

This is what i believe also. Another interesting thing are angels are also known as saints. Job 15:15 is clear evidence. Job 15: 15Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
There was no man in heaven at this point so this has to be angels

The magi by Adrian G Gilbert is fantastic read.
Maybe it was Satan who made the star appear to the mages and send them to Herod so he could order the murder of all the young children (like Pharo once did) in order for christ to die literally still in the crib if not for divine intervention?
Comets in the Ancient East were actually individually interpreted by the Magi, not blanket interpretated as a bad omen. So that’s a false dilemma
Interesting! Do you have a source for that that you could point me to?
What a silly fantasy.
LOL!
@@aprilmay578 What makes it a fantasy?
very cool. makes sense .from the ancient's point of view.astrology was a part of the early Christian church.
My planetarium said it was a conjunction of three planets. Mars, Jupiter, Venus. Around the time of the Christ’s birth.
That also did happen, in 7 BC. I also thought maybe that was significant, but have to say this seems more compelling given the related interpretations.
It was the two big planets jupiter and Mercury in the shaking hands position. Meaning they were that close they looked like one star.
Wonderful! Thanks.
Beyond that, what makes Molnar's explanation superior (in my opinion) is that it starts with the ancient understanding and goes from there, rather than looking for unusual things (like the star configuration in revelation) and saying "this is probably it."
Those are my two cents. Thanks for sharing and watching!
that's Saturn on the coin
Star of bethlehem is wormwood is lucifer fallen down
Amos 5:5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
Amos 5:6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
Amos 5:7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
Amos 5:8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name

1) Halley's comet is the same Biblical Star of Bethlehem.
This is what the Gegorian Calendar ("Calendario Gregoriano") article says on Wikipedia (in Spanish), I'll translate it for you:
"At the Council of Nicea it was determined that Easter should be commemorated on the Sunday following the full moon after the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere (autumn equinox in the southern hemisphere).
I have this coin
Have you heard of this fist century coin with a ram ( Aries) which designated the region of Syria, and the interplay of the planets Jupiter and Saturn re the sun and moon rising in the east? This appears to confirm the 6 BC date. th-cam.com/video/HFl6JS9zobI/w-d-xo.html

Thanks Mike!
Jesus was born on December 25 2 BC
No
Call me crazy, but if I was trying to write a believable story of Jesus’ birth, I would have scraped the entire “Star of David” event.
Zero credibility, dude.
close but no cigar.
I'm sorry Tracy, I honestly can't tell whether you're trolling or genuinely believe that.
@@starjetpilot That is a fascinating take. What convinced you of this?
HMMMMM ! EXCELLENT ! FROM, THE UNITED KINGDOM. (2024).
LOL! LOL! LOL!
What drugs are you on?
Of course Aries is looking back at the star because Aries is before Pisces, which was the birth of Christ Pisces the fish Jesus Christ was born on September 11 and his glory is written in the heavens
It was drones!
That's not something I've heard before. Could you share your sources?
April 10 the birth of Jesus Christ
March 20. Jesus was a Pisces. "I will make you fishers of men." And the fish was a symbol of Christianity long before the cross. If Jesus had been born in April he'd have been either an Aries or a Taurus.
Fiction.
sure?
