What Do The Magi and The Dead Sea Scrolls Have In Common?

  • I believe that the Magi saw something at a certain time in history that told them; there's going to be a divine King born in Bethlehem, saddle up the camels, we have to go see. Jews would have noticed that, Gentiles would have noticed it, because they were watching. And they believed that the Creator God, the God of Israel, was capable of telegraphing stuff like this. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Dead Sea Scrolls calendar, that the Qumran people used, is the only calendar in the ancient world that creates a time window for the Messiah's arrival that matches Jesus. I don't think that's a coincidence. Check it out!

      @@jasontipton8430 What precision?
The magi arrived in Jerusalem and didn't know where to look - it was King Herod that made enquiries from his advisors and then sent the magi to continue their search for the place where Jesus was to be born.
Are you keeping up so far?
The magi were not present at Jesus' birth - it could have been up to 2 years when they entered into a house to find Mary and the young child, Jesus to present him with gifts.
So much for astrology and so-called signs in the sky.
Meanwhile, the bible account in Luke chapter 2 tells us that God sent his messenger angel to announce Jesus' birth to humble shepherds in the fields who were given the information to find Jesus' birth place the same day and on travelling there, they found both Mary and Joseph and the infant, Jesus wrapped up just as described.
These shepherds then spread the news to others.
Are you still managing to keep up?
King Herod never received any news from the magi as they had been warned off from returning to Jerusalem by divine intervention - read the account in Matthew chapter 2.
Herod then issued a decree for all male infants up to 2 years of age to be slaughtered.
The bible does not give any credibility to astrology or those who look for omens - the magi were astrologers; they came from a region in the east where it was customary for advisors to kings to be consulting astrological charts, practicing divination and other occult practices that are condemned in the bible.
Christians find accurate information from the only source that God has provided - those that look towards astrology and the occult for signs and omens will be misled.
      Let that sink in.
The dude in the video hasn't a clue what he's talking about.

You've got the dates wrong Jesus was born in 5BC and the heavenly body in the sky was a Comet or broom star. It appeared in March the 10th and lasted 70 days till May the 19th . The Chinese recorded this in their ancient texts , the Magi noticed in Ethiopia and followed it they were buying Frankincense and Myrrh and gold to be traded . The other giveaway was Luke the 15th year of Tiberius was 27AD and Jesus was 30 years old so working backwards this gives 5BC the year he was born. The date of crucifixion was 30AD and Jesus was 33 years old when he died ,5BC includes the last reign of Herod the great who died in 4BC so it fits .

The magi, a group of men in a priestly cast, were the descendants of those men mentored by Daniel. Daniel was head of all of the wise men in two major ancient kingdoms and as such would have had vast influence over their thinking. He was one of the Old Testament's primary prophets in relation to time prediction. He saw and described accurately many kingdoms that were to come as well as foreseeing the birth of the messiah and very accurately giving a window of time when he was to be expected in Israel. Hence, wise men came from the east asking where is he that is born King. They were simply following Daniel's time frame and instructions.

False. Magi (/ˈmeɪdʒaɪ/; singular magus /ˈmeɪɡəs/; from Latin magus) were priests in Zoroastrianism and the earlier religions of the western Iranians. The earliest known use of the word magi is in the trilingual inscription written by Darius the Great, known as the Behistun Inscription. Old Persian texts, predating the Hellenistic period, refer to a magus as a Zurvanic, and presumably Zoroastrian, priest.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handy work.
2 Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making the simple wise.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of [g]great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight,

While it is true that there are a couple of dates for Herod's death discussed, the evidence points to 4 BC. The arguments against it (too little time between his death and Passover) are not conclusive, while the regnal years of his three sons all point to a starting point in 4 BC. Dr. Heiser, I am praying for you and your family at this difficult time.
Concerning this video, I wrote a book on the same topic in in 2015-2017. It not only points to the time of the birth of Jesus, and the alignment the Magi witnessed, but also to the date of September 22nd, 2017. Not that it was the 2nd coming, but it was announcing an epoch: the soon to happen rapture, followed by the rising of the Kingdom of Christ.
The Lord allowed me to discover that the great red dragon of Revelation 12 is indeed a combination of Scorpio and Libra, known as the "Azure Dragon" in Chinese astrology, from ancient times. It is depicted on their flag, waiting to devour Jupiter, "the righteous one".
The crown of 12 stars is the asterism of Leo, along with the wandering stars (tribes) of Venus, Mars and Mercury, who rejoined their brothers (the stars of Judah: Leo). All this aligned on Sept. 22, 2017, when the sun was in Virgo and the moon was at her feet. On the same night, Jupiter (the righteous one: Jesus) was born out from Virgo's belly, after spending 9.5 months in her belly area.
After publishing my book, I was out watching this happen, with some friends, and after they left, I was praying. I asked God, "Why can't we see the whole thing spread across the sky for all to see? Why is Virgo only visible when the sun is setting and Leo is only visible before the sun comes up the next morning?"
And God spoke to me, and said, "This (Virgo) is the Church going away, and that (Leo) is the Kingdom of Christ rising."
I knew it was Him. This knowledge had evaded my thinking. I will never forget it.
Thank you for this video. It confirms to me I was on the right track. (As does the Lord speaking to me).
My book is on Amazon, it is called "The Great and Wondrous Sign."
I would still love to interview you, if you have the strength.
May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob strengthen your frame and may He ease your suffering and may He comfort both you and your family and give you peace.

That’s very interesting. I never heard of this sign being in 3 BC. I’m sure many are aware that this sign took place on September 23, 2017 as well which was a month after the “Great American Eclipse” on August 21, 2017. So crazy how God can use lost scrolls in a lost cave from a lost village in a lost time to reveal His truths and mysteries.

33 days after the sign the Eclipse entered the United States over the 33rd state of the union (Oregon) and exited the continental united states within a couple of thousand yards of the 33rd parallel near Charleston SC into the Atlantic ocean. The next eclipse that crosses our continent will be In the spring of 2024. This second eclipse will enter the united States in Texas and exit some where up in Maine. The X of these two eclipses marks the spot of tribulation or judgment of a nation and its people. Not quite seven years but pretty close.
The sign was when Jupiter left Virgo. For the previous Nine months Jupiter had been in the lower abdomen of Virgo - gestation as it were. This was a trick of perspective as we (earth) was following Jupiter in our path around our sun. On 21 August 2017 Jupiter left Virgo. This sign has happened many times before. So take for what its worth. I remember being astounded at all the "33's" when I crunched the numbers and looked up the 33 state of the union and also the eclipse path on the NASA website. The path runs out in to a marsh but it is within a amazingly short distance of the 33rd parallel.
Hey for fun you should also compare presidents of the united states with the psalms. So who does the 45 psalm sound like? And then there is the 46 psalm and well what is it than can melt mountains? Enjoy.

Just remember that not all pastors know or feel equipped on all of this, and everyone has different callings and giftings and are at different places in maturity and growth... . That said, I agree it would be helpful and beneficial if more did, in a true and healthful way ! I have sadly seen a lot of the unhealthful way, in my own family. A focus on all this kind of stuff to the serious neglect of growth in their walk as a Christian in everyday living/walking in the Spirit and thus producing the fruits of the Spirit. Which had already been an issue, most of the time, before they got into this or that, so I'm not blaming the topic but the tendency in many to latch onto academic type approach and focus of God's word and forget about personal growth, relationships, attitudes and etc. ... . About the main thing - knowing, living and sharing un-adulteratedly the gospel.

A good lecture, but it is easy to get over-excited. Research like this proves that texts like Revelations are about then current events, not future ones. Dr. Heiser's lecture show that one must, as historians do, separate hopes/tidings from the situation in which a text was made and existed.

    • @AllOtherNamesUsed
      @AllOtherNamesUsed ปีที่แล้ว

@@trondbirkeland8094 maybe these ‘historians’ should take remedial language courses since the text of Revelation says it’s about past, present and FUTURE events - as opposed to the hopes and wishes of the full preterists.
_Therefore write the things which you HAVE seen (past), and the things which ARE (present), and the things which WILL (future) take place after these things._ (Rev1.19)
More common sense and less Heiser should help.

@@AllOtherNamesUsed I think you misunderstand, or maybe not, if you strongly disagree with Dr. Heiser.
One might say that you are using the NT like a lawyer would use a book of laws, to refer to verse and chapter, etc. to prove "I'm right, and your're wrong!" as if the text is something slapped onto the table right today. This is a problem when communicating historical critical perspectives to insiders of a faith.
The text should/could be read with ITS present and its conditions in mind (i.e. middle/late Roman Empire), not yours, mine or any future decendants of ours. Dr. Heiser's words on astrology seem to support this. Though Dr. Heiser is speaking to believers as a believer, his research is important to historians of religion who see this without appealing to their own faith or lack of it. I understand that this perspective of history, so common i Europe, is very difficult to communicate to the general Christian community in North America.
Thus: Revelations is about the conditions of its time, not about 3000AD, or something. A time when astrology was important to convey ideas. Reading Revelations sola scriptura uncritically, is something I believe even Martin Luther advised against. I do not think modern Christianity should be based on astrology.
What Johannes of Patmos is so concerned about is the Roman Empire, not the EU, brexit, Covid or the emperor of Arrakis. Astrology and prophecies belong to its time as a way of people then seeing forward in their own time and situation. Similarly, the prophets of the OT were commentators of their present concerns, their kings and enemies, not a future ten thousand years ahead.
I do not mean to foster any hostility, and found your comment somewhat harsh. I think making, or reflecting over ones position regarding the viewpoints would make for better understanding.

They were taking turns watching their flock during the night...Thus in the late spring time around Bethlehem is the only time the Shepherds are down in the low country because the grass is green and the rest of the year in the higher elevations. ...any thoughts

@@victario888 No special insight that hasn't been readily available to the public published by new and old writers and academics that have answered the matter showing no problems with the time in question.
Bethlehem is reported to have provided livestock nearly year-round including mild winters for Jerusalem's sacrificial system -- including Yeshua the lamb of God you could say. It rarely snowed in the south and for a rough comparison, the low in Jerusalem, just north of Bethlehem, this week is in the mid 50s to mid 60s, very mild, and we're a month or so later than the time period in question.
References I have found include Alfred Edersheim, Strack and Billerback (now in English), Leon Morris, Martin cites Hendriksen in ch 5, just to name a few. Could you provide the source for the info you mentioned?
Something I have repeatedly learned in studying the bible for 20 years is that many, even scholars, will grasp at anything to downplay/ignore/reject the accuracy of the text (their consistently poor or deceptive arguments always seem to backfire and have actually helped show me that the text is accurate, as someone who grew up agnostic and had no dog in the fight; to be fair some 'pro' biblical people do this as well -- therefore be a good Berean!), including the massive new discoveries locking in the breathtaking accuracy of the astronomical details provided by Matthew 2 and Rev 12, confirmed with astronomical software (and other biblical and extrabiblical details - see Martin's work mentioned above), and provide new details of how Yeshua Jesus fulfilled deep aspects of the Jewish holidays, not to mention the cosmic implications of creation itself used to serve God's plan of salvation and certify Yeshua Jesus as the universal savior, the promised seed of the woman (Zera/Spica in Bethulah/Virgo), to the nations -- those willing to search these things out and give Him praise.

Ahhh I'm so glad you came out with this video! I thought I was the only one making the quite obvious connection here (as I usually think I'm the only one of alot of things to my fault lol). I watched a few TH-cam videos and read a few articles and wiki's here and there and I'd like to give a prolonged version for anyone who cares to read it. So, the three magi that come with gifts from Media (I believe, right?) at the manger or also known as the three wise men, are for this reason known as that. They were Zoroastrians from the East. What is Zoroastrianism? Briefly and formally put, it's one of the oldest (and we really do mean OLDEST) religions of the middle east and as far as I've researched, it all started with a dude named Zoroaster/Zarathustra from ancient Sumer, and the story goes, Zoroaster was in a pond or oasis or some body of water washing himself and lamenting over the depravity and chaos in his society, when all of a sudden a "being" that can only be described as immense radiating energy appeared before Zoroaster hovering above the water, and explained to Zoroaster that this "being" was the Creator of all that is good and orderly and that it had an 'adversary' who was the polar opposite of this being, that would seek the destruction and reversing of all that was created good by this "good being". The Zoroastrians named this Almighty Creator being "Ahura Mazda" (Fun fact, the car brand Mazda is named after this very concept) and His adversary "Angra Mainyu". Ahura Mazda then told Zoroaster that despite all this, a coming "SAOSHIYANT" (literally translated to Savior of Mankind) would destroy the corruption and bring salvation to creation and man, and the signs in the heavens that would be appear before His coming. Zoroaster gets rocking and rolling, becomes a prophet, brushes up on his astronomy skills and creates a school or religion of highly knowledgable men who could interpret "signs in the heavens" and were good at math and all that jazz. Roll the clock 1000 years or more or whatever, and the signs start to appear.... the Wise Men/Magi/Zoroastrians/Knowledgable men take note of this. And from there we can only imagine. I like to picture the three wise men on their camel late at night on their trek kind of bickering toward each other like "Hey man how much further you think this is? I'm getting kinda hungry" "Yeah man maybe Zoroaster was just.... crazy?" "NO. Trust me guys, I mean come on, we've come all this way, and you're just gonna quit on me li-" *baby cries in the distance* *they look, see a lone manger in the middle of nowhere* *They look up, its directly under the brightest star, as prophesied* *All three wise men collectively urinate a little bit in immense joy as they pursue the greatest moment of their lives* The End... lol.

1200 BC isn't that old as far as religions go tbh. I've looked into Zoroaster, read the prophecies etc... and come to believe it was just another false religion, although it is one of the only monotheistic ones of the time that didn't have a pantheon that had the storm god as their leader. Cyrus the Persian was a zoroasterian and maybe the similarity in their beliefs is what caused him to fulfill the prophecy that Isaiah said he, by name, would fulfill centuries before - to end the Babylonian captivity and begin building the 2nd temple. So maybe God used this false religions beliefs for His own purposes. Satan tries to imitate Him. Always has, always will. He wants his own throne above God's. But, our Lord works in mysterious ways, and this tends to backfire everytime and blow up in the evil one's face, kinda like the Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoon lol.
That is not to say that false religions don't use nuggets of truth to lure in new believers. Sometimes these nuggets of truth can lead people to the actual Truth. And the Way and the Life. God is the God of Israel, not Persia/Iran.

When you consider the fact that Jesus was 30 when He started His ministry, was crucified three and a half years later, around the time of passover, the math for His date of birth in months puts it in September. It's good to see that Dr. Heiser has now confirmed this.

@@tkinnc1 From what I've read, The Book of John records 3 passovers during Christs ministry and possibly a fourth one. I am still studying this. Three and a half years would also line up with the ministry duration of the two witnesses in Revelation 11 (42 months).

The Passover lamb had to be about a year old, likewise, Jesus’ ministry was about 1 year (70 weeks, most likely).
