I literally didn't even know they had a filter you had to clean. Took it out yesterday and I started gagging IT WAS CAKED IN WHITE CRUSTALES, NOT CRYSTALS, CRUSTALS, WITH BLACK GOO ALL OVER IT IT SMELLED AWFUL. It's second hand, and I'm fairly certain the previous owner never cleaned it either cuz we only used it for like a month because it absolutely NEVER wanted to properly clean the dishes + it stank after every cycle
Sometimes you can’t post anything people want to find fault they want to argue they want to question the process people do it or not don’t do it that matter it doesn’t work for you I didn’t work for you try it not try who cares
a tablet doesn't have the manual force needed to take the filter out the bottom and clean around the gaskets and all that. after that you can use the tablets, this method, the Oxiclean squirter...whatever (although i bet this method is the most cost effective)
Why would you rinse out the filter inside the dishwasher? Wouldn't it make more sense to rinse the filter in the sink? So all of the grime and I think he said ickies end up in the sink and not back in the dishwasher?
I just sprinkle baking soda in the bottom... I spray the inside down with either apple cider vinegar or lemon juice... Let it sit for 5 minutes and then I put one scoop of OxiClean odor blaster in the dispenser run it on the hottest longest setting... I do it once a month
why do people that have no experience on cleaning appliances and just repeats what they see on tic toc for the likes and the views. DO NOT use baking soda unless you want your drain line hose clogged. Vinegar is great and do it how this video shows. I've been doing appliance repairs for over 14 years and I get a lot of calls from customers drains clogged up. I don't unclog drain line hoses, I replace. Then advice to stop watching videos like this.
Thank you. Can I leave the filter and screen part out when I run it with vinegar? The part underneath the filter has mold and idk how to remove it from there without just spreading it around with a towel
If you want to really get your filters cleaned you can soak them in vinegar for 30 minutes, rinse them to remove any build up, install them back in your dishwasher, then run your dishwasher with vinegar to get a complete cleaning. For people that don't know, don't pour your vinegar in dishwasher then start it because it will drain your vinegar out. When you first start your dishwasher, it dumps the dirty water out from previous wash. When starting your dishwasher, ALWAYS make sure your run your hot water in your sink to get hot water in your dishwasher. However long it takes you to get hot water to your sink, you're filling your dishwasher with cold water. @@amaia424
The dishwasher cleaning tablets have sodium bicarbonate and citric acid in them as well as other ingredients. Wouldn’t this clog up the drain lines too?
@@dianne8340cleaning tablets have sodium percarbonate, not bicarbonate. That's a different molecule. Anyhow, never heard that sodium bicarbonate clogs the drain line...I highly doubt it.
Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom spray the inside of your dishwasher with apple cider vinegar.... Let it sit open for 5 minutes.... Fill the dispenser with one scoop of OxiClean odor blaster.... Run it on the hottest longest setting.... I do it once a month my dishwasher stays clean and smells fresh.... And you can substitute the apple cider vinegar with lemon juice
I just asked the same question on a different video. Thank you. I don't know why I didn't know this because I do know this but I have covid brain😅. 🤯😅 I'm laughing at myself. I genuinely did forget baking soda and vinegar will bubble up and make a mess.
Also their cleaning properties come from the fact that one is an acid and one is a base. You lose that when you mix them by neutralizing them. I think people who use it to clean this way maybe use the bubbles as if they were scrubbing? So if you ever do use it down the line, make sure you mix them at the end once the initial cleaning is done. I hope this helps
You could just combine both of them and let the gas/bubbles escape and pour it directly in the dishwasher and turn it on that way you can save a load/water . Its just a suggestion
Finally someone who understands that baking soda and vinegar neutralise each other and doing it separately
This is a first for me. Sounds good

Kitchen aids used to have a grinder to dispose if food waste. I miss those days.
Is it normal for water to be sitting in the filter compartment? I see that in my dishwasher. Looks that way on this video as well.

Do you use the hottest/longest setting for both 1st vinegar and then 2nd baking soda cycles?
Or you could just use those dishwasher cleaning tablets that the manufacturer recommends and gives you a sample of.

How often do you do that?
Once a month

...he did rinse it in the sink?
I thought the same thing as you lmao. It looked like the drain is inside the dishwasher but it's actually the sink
Wouldnt sprinklimf wash it off in the risnse instead of going through the cycle? Like put it in the dishwashing liquid area?
Should we put the dishwasher cleaning cubes ?

Once a year seems like over kill. Once a year is appropriate.
@Juniorxxnho ???
@@juniorxxnho yeah if you want to eat off a dirty dishes
are we supposed to put the filter back in and then add the vinegar or leave it out for that part
jk I think it doesnt start if the filter isnt in
I was wondering that too so I had to rewind 4 times to hear that he quietly said put it back in before running the vinegar.
Thx

So hold up could you put the vinegar in like you did and just put the baking soda in the dispenser and run the hotest setting?
No you have to do then separately because they neutralize each other
I tried this and smell still is there I guess it's in the tubes or something

Dont use vinegar and soda, there are special liquids that are placed inside for the cleaning cycle
My KITCHENAID does not have that.

Nou... Never combine vinegar and bicarbonate. They nullify each other.
