I just happen to hop on your video because I have standing water after 23 years of use. I'm going to try all of what you've shared!!👍

    Lots of videos like this but I found yours to be the most complete and helpful. It’s the little things that matter and you covered them all. Very nice! I had never heard of putting vinegar in the rinse aid compartment but that makes sense and I’ll have to try it.

    2 things I would add are cleaning the bottom part of dishwasher put where door meets. It gets gunky! The other thing is take pictures of how the parts look BEFORE you take everything apart. Game changer when things aren't going back in right.

    Great video also DO NOT forget to wipe underneath the interior door lip, where the very lower end of the door meets the tub, under that gets so filthy and soap scummy and needs to be wiped every few cycles really.

      I just bought an older home with an older, but good dishwasher. It looked clean but when I started scrubbing inside where the door butts up against the inside, there was a ton of disgusting filth that came out. I still haven’t been able to get it all out. I’m beginning to think I’m going to have to replace a functioning dishwasher because I can’t get all the filth out.

    I just cleaned mine after watching a video and honestly wish I’d watched this one first (I wanted to watch another to make sure I didn’t screw something up). I put everything back the way it was after but it had so much mold underneath that filter 🤧🤮 I couldn’t get it all out, found out quickly it doesn’t drain in the bottom unless the dishwasher is on, assuming the pump does that. Made me feel a lot better seeing someone else do it

    I'm 73 years old and never knew a dishwasher had filters until my son-in-law moved in and took it upon himself to clean the entire machine. He cleared food from the pipes, etc., as well. He gave me a good lecture afterwards. Guess I'll read the manuals from now on, and watch your videos.

    Great tips bud, but if using white vinegar to clean the insides of the dishwasher dont chuck it in the bottom as some dishwashers like mine run a quick drain cycle before the clean and the vinegar will be drained, so like say put in a cup on bottom rack, the baking soda or soda crystals in the base of machine is fine I have found.

  • @Queen-of-Swords
    @Queen-of-Swords 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll add, soda crystals do the same as the vinegar or baking soda, if you live in the UK and can get Dripak products. My new favourite things.

    Good job. One thing though. My GE Portable Dishwasher manual states, standing water after wash is supposed to be there for design reason. Please double check with manufacturers or the manuals. Dishwasher like GE Portable, is designed to keep a little bit of remaining standing water after wash and dry is all done. Don't repair that is not out of order, please. And, don't feel bad, nobody is perfect, and you may be correct on some brands. Just team efforting.

    I just read that you never use vinegar in the dishwasher or washing machine. Because it can deteriorate the rubber.

    • @CleanWithConfidence
      @CleanWithConfidence  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that’s false actually. That would be true if you soaked it in pure vinegar nonstop but that is not the case in this scenario because you are using it to clean, them wiping it up immediately.

  • @nicoleconley9818
    @nicoleconley9818 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Another tip I'll add is you really shouldn't be putting your dishes in there with food all over them. No detergent can prevent the dishwasher filters from clogging up and then you're essentially washing your dishes in water full of rotting food, just think about that every time you load the dishwasher without bothering to rinse anything.

  • @proverbwoman5591
    @proverbwoman5591 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Video yourself taking apart your machine so you can play it back if you get confused! Most newer machines have a black rubber gasket around the whole door and the bottom part where the door is hinged to meet the machine gets DISGUSTING so please remember to clean the build up each time. It is a little more difficult to get to but definitely the grungiest part! And I never find a need to soak my screen or filter. Just immediately scrub them with dishsoap and a toothbrush because all that scum is soft already! 🤢

    Stupid/lazy people shouldn't own dishwashers, or at the very least not until they learn to soak and/or rinse their dishes first before putting them in the dishwasher.
    As he said, I'm sure the leading causes of dishwashers smelling like an animal died inside is attributed to:
    - Treating your dishwasher like a garbage disposal.
    - Not rinsing off excess food from silverware, pots, pans, etc. before loading it into dishwasher
