An appliance repair guy told me about running the sink to get the hot water immediately going in the dishwasher. Such a good tip
Yes! Thats because most if not all dishwashers in is connected to the sink!
Only if the dishwasher is connected to the hot supply, Europe have a cold connection.
Here I am at 37, thinking you don’t need to clean dishwashers because they are constantly pushing soapy water through themselves anyway. Let’s just say it was pretty gross under there once I started looking. 😂. Thanks for this video.
I think that if you 'pre-scrub' your plates and things before they go in, and if you live in a softwater area, it stays pretty clean. But many people put gunked up plates into it (and it is designed to handle this), but this would likely muck up the filter moreso.
Male, USA, 36. SAME!
Lmfao same! I’ve had dishwashers forever and as a 33 year old woman I had to research how to clean it or fix it bc my dang one stopped washing the top rack. I’ve always just ran empty loads with a cup of vinegar to “clean” it.
😂😂😂 same
Here I am at 31 knowing that you need to clean them but being in denial about it.
I love that you have a Michael Scott clean/dirty magnet! Love your videos! ❤❤❤
This is the most comprehensive dishwasher video that I have seen. Thanks! The tip for cleaning the crevice between the dishwasher and door is really helpful!
This video is so beautifully constructed. WONDERFUL TIPS, thank you!
Another great video, Brandon! I love how you explain and show everything step by step. Your channel is a treasure trove for all things cleaning-related :D
Perfect video this is exactly what I’ve been doing for years, it’s so important to clean the dishwasher often!! I remove my lower rack during the cleaning cycle so the lower arm has the whole tub to focus on instead of a rack being in the way. Upper arm must stay in so the upper wash arm is plugged in to its water supply of course. The dishwasher smells so good after using the Cascade Cleaner pacs.
I cannot believe how filthy and clogged my filter was!! Thank you so much. It was pretty easy to get to and take out, but getting it clean took a tooth brush and spray from the hose outside. It was GROSS!!! 😵💫😵💫
Tried this, fabulously clean ❤
Thank you so much for this video!!!
That was so lovely! Perfectly well done. Thanks
Very well explained
Thanks for
The tip of running the hot water first
I’m hooked on your vids. I “fancy” myself an outstanding cleaner… but definitely hv picked up awesome tips from you.
Before I run my dishwasher, I ALWAYS 1st run my disposal, as with a Fam who aren’t careful about running disposal. Our dishwasher (perhaps not all…) runs through my sink well (over disposal area), so… IF food particles aren’t cleared, I get a less-than-optimal clean/rinse. Anyone else’s nd this habit? Great stuff 💯
Thanks for watching!!
Wow thank you I will be doing this today !
Great video, thank you! I have pulled out the filters in our dishwasher, but I haven't gone through this whole process. I also love the new setup for your Amazon store. I found something today I had seen in one of your videos but hadn't been able to find on Amazon. 😊
That’s awesome to hear, always trying to make it easier to find stuff. 🙂
Excellent video, so informative. Just what I was looking for.
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for Sharing great tips
Great tips and video
Great editing. Nice and succinct.
Great video helpful information
Tried this today after I noticed a bad smell from a brand new dishwasher that we’ve used for for 4 months. And it was so gross. I’m going to do this once a week or every other week.
Thank you so much!
Perfect. Thank you!
Thank you!!
THANK YOU 🙏
Do you have any suggestions of how to clean the spraying arms when the full of junk?
Great ideas!
Im going to try your ideas but I also have what looks like dirty rack, stem glass holders and silverware holders. It rubs off with my fingers but they are too intricate too clean all. Also the newer dishwashers have their own water heating element so the water warm isn't necessary. Thanks in advance.
Obriagada 🎉Vou limpar a minha agora corretamente!!
Thank you soooo much!!!
Wild!! I had no idea, thanks for the tip!!
You bet!
Going to try your method for cleaning my dishwasher 😀❤️👍thanks so much
You got it!!
Hi Brandon! I love all your cleaning tips so much! Question for you - we recently bought a new house and we have well water which is pretty hard and treated with a water softener. I feel like all of the sinks/showers/bathtubs still look dull and spotty even after I’ve scrubbed them clean. Any tips or favorite products for hard water?
The two cleaners I would try are either white vinegar or Bar Keepers Friend MORE spray. Both are amazing for hard water build up. The other thing that can help for really bad hard water is #0000 steel wool. I will say you need to be careful on what surfaces you use it because it is a bit aggressive. So it’s best to always test a small inconspicuous area and always make sure the surface is lubricated with a cleaner.
@CleanThatUp I love using #0000 Steele wool and barkeepers friend for my glass shower door. It's amazing how fast and how clean it gets it with no more residue. I thought ours was frosted when I first moved in. I used this combo and oh my it is actually clear 🤢
Hi there! So my lower tray doesn’t pop easily back in place after washing. It looks like it’s slightly warped? It still more or less fits just not completely flush. Do you recommend replacing it?
Thanks Brandon!!
Any chance of another toilet cleaning video? For me it’s the outside of the toilet. Seems like dog hair and dust build up easily. I do swiffer and vacuum, but that never gets up enough. I then clean with a cleaner and paper towel or rag, but it seems things just move around and don’t come off the toilet. I feel like I’ve dealt with this with every toilet. Maybe I’m just being too OCD, but it’s annoying!
We are filming a full toilet tutorial next week! Hoping it will be out in a few weeks. 🙂
Wow never knew this your amazing ❤❤
Glad you liked it!!
What if the filter has little specks of black that won't come off? Is that mold and I should probably order another filter?
Ty i cleaned all my filters ac and dish washer filter i cleaned every filter in my home its so much more fresh air never thought about cleaning my filter😅
Wait…the utensil drawer can go on the door? 🤯
You forgot to clean one thing that could improve the washing : some food can enter into the thing where the water comes out and may block it. Like some rice or tiny things.
Thanks a million. My dishwasher filter is steel one and it is rusted can you please give me some advice? Thanks in advance
I would try some Bar Keepers Friend or CLR for the rust.
Thank you for the video! One question though, should there be standing water underneath the filter that you removed after a cycle? I find my 1 year old dishwasher has standing water 1-2 inches in the filter space when I remove it.
Me too!
You are the best.
Happy to help!
Moved in with my now husband a few years ago, noticed the dishwasher sometimes leaves sediment on the insides of cups. It’s THIS dishwasher. This same exact one. The same one. I’m sure he’s never deep cleaned it cause why would a bachelor do that? I’m very excited to clean it now 😂
Hella! This is really helpful thanks!
Happy to help, thanks for watching!
Wouldn’t the vinegar and the soap neutralize each other?
This is the best dishwasher cleaning video on TH-cam.... we need to stop with the vinegar dishwasher cleaning it doesn't work.... add a cup of undiluted vinegar to a spray bottle spray the inside of your dishwasher and you want to let it sit vinegar is a slow dissolver it needs time to work... adding a cup of vinegar to your dishwasher and then running it only works as a deodorizer the vinegar becomes so diluted it's not able to break down the Slime hard water stains calcium it won't kill any bacteria.... you would have to put a gallon of vinegar in your dishwasher to clean it most dishwashers use 5 to 6 gallons of water a cycle.....
Help, how do I find the filter? I have an older Maytag dishwasher, likely 12 years old, at least. Don’t see anything removable. Any ideas?
Clean cycle finished but the pod dispenser is still closed?
Hey, thanks for sharing this. How do I get rid of the dirty water underneath the dishwasher filter? Is that a drainage issue?
I have this same question
Help!! I had dirty dishes after using maybe 10x? I looked to see what could be blocking (had Maytag before🙄🤬)… i pulled filters out not knowing it was filter & found water in Area the above mentioned. I balled up some paper towels to absorb & didnt even do a dent in water!
I love how super hot their water gets I wish mine got that hot! Lol I usually have to microwave water multiple times to wash dishes at a temperature that I think is reasonable to actually clean the dishes….. seeing that steam made me giddy inside LMFAOOO it’s really the small things….
Thanks for the demo. Sent it to my husband to watch and learn 😂
Hi Brandon. I see you still have some water where you took out the filter and was wondering if you have any solution how to prevent it from happening. My dishwasher always ends up having some water in it even after I clean out the filter. Any ideas? TIA. 😊
Good question! I know this can sometimes be caused by a clogged filter. That being said I also know some dishwasher always have a little water in the pump area so things like the seals don’t dry out and crack. Is it a lot of water?
@@CleanThatUpyeah there’s a lot of water. I would use a small cup to scoop as much of the water out and restart the dishwasher hoping it’ll restart. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. 😢
Is it 5% vinegar or 10 ?
Can u use Apple cider vinegar instead if u do not have white vinegar?
I used apple cider vinegar and it seems it works
We have a new Samsung (6 months ago) and the dished do not get clean on the bottom rack. Coffee cups turned upside down will not even get clean. Any suggestions. Thank you.
Making sure the dishwasher is not overloaded with dishes and using a high quality dishwasher liquid or pod can help. 😃
Rapid heating accelerates oxidation. Thats why those coils accumulate rust so often
I'm guilty of not knowing the filter existed! We took the filter out and it was completely crusted with lime scale/calcium or some other white solid deposit, OMG. We ordered a new filter and removable plastic piece from Amazon. I wish I could have posted a picture! How embarrassing!
Why do you put filter in top shelf, after cleaning. Surely the dishwasher cleaner will disinfect it when reinstalled.
Thanks for this video. I live in a rental unit and when I remove the filter it was so dirty and clogged up. I use Hot water Bleach and soak it 0:21 for hours and it finally came clean. Never again will I trust a landlord….
Okay SO. We recently purchased a house, and the dishwasher is a few years old, and the previous owners didn’t EVER clean the dishwasher. The filter is caked so badly and one soak isn’t enough. There is also grime liberally caked on the rubber seal around the door. How would you clean that?
I can send a video on IG if needed. Pls help 😢
I wish I could blame the previous owners... It's all me, though!!!
I thought you were supposed to clean the openings on the spray arm, too.
Me: wow that dishwasher is super clean
Him: as you can see, it’s pretty dirty
👁️👄👁️
I tend to clean mine every 6 ish months which isn’t enough, and I don’t put dishes with food on them in the dishwasher, and mine was vile yesterday when I cleaned it. You couldn’t even see though the filter because it had layer of gunk all around it.
Even after cleaning mine, the washer in this video is still cleaner than mine 😂 hence why I’m here.
Have you tried the new Scrub Daddy cream cleanser?
NGL…I’ve never cleaned my dishwasher and I’ve lived in this house for 8 yrs now. I’d rather buy a new dishwasher and start from scratch!
Am I the only one without a light in my didhwasher?
It’s for the video, I was thinking the same thing 😂. If you look closely there’s a phone with the light on on the top rack.
lol
I am afraid 😱 to gather these items I have never seen…
Thank you for this instructional video.
You got this!
The USA gets the good microwave ovens, but I feel that Europe gets the better dishwashers. Plastic tub, exposed heating element, we haven't seen that here for decennia.
My dishwasher doesn't look like this
I think I must have an older one. I don't have a book on it.
Not sure how old that dishwasher is but I haven't seen a dishwasher built in the last 15 years that has a Hot water connection, anything remotely modern has a cold water connection only and heats the water up as part of the cycle, so your just wasting hot water by simply running it down the drain if the machine only has a cold water connection.
There are plenty of modern dishwashers that have a hot water connection.
This was clean yo begin with. Try cleaning a dishwasher that hasn’t been cleaned in several years. That’s where many people are at.
Work OK when your not 86
When I see rubber gloves, I turn it off…
that siahwasher is old tech , change it, heater are outside the machine nowadays
bro the machine cleans itself what
