Yes it is the iPhone moment. they are getting affordable with the 7500$ tax credit you can now use as a down payment and with fuel savings if you drive a lot the fuel savings pay for your car.

Maybe instead of the four cameras that you suggested, they could put an electrochromic filter in front of the camera lenses. Sort of like photochromic lenses for human eyeglasses. The filter would effectively be a variable ND filter with density related to voltage supplied. The car could put on its own sunglasses. My B-pillar cameras get blinded by morning sun too often.

9:57 you sound confused. On one hand physical apertures cannot be added by software. On the other apertures don't change the focal length.
What you think of are cameras with physical apertures which change the depth of field - which has nothing to do with the focal length of the camera. But these cameras have no physical aperture anyway.

As the lens aperture shrinks, the range of distances that will produce a sharp image gets wider. With a smaller aperture, the objects further from the subject will come into focus. An aperture of f/22 will let in very little light - but it will also keep most of the scene in focus.

@@teslatalks9836 That's what you call depth of field, not focal length.
Focal length is a physical metric of the lens which never changes if you change the aperture. Only zoom lenses can change the focal length.
Tesla uses however no fixed focus, fixed focus length cameras with no aperture, as I explained already - so there's no way that a "software update" can change any of those parameters.

I’ve been wondering, has there been any dialog from any of the Tesla AI team that states that Chill, Average, and Assertive does anything above exactly what the info in the selection menu states it does? I think there could be confirmation bias from drivers thinking it’s making changes outside of just follow distance and lane change frequency (the latter could definitely affect drive performance the most, IMO). Hopefully it does modify things outside of what it says. Also, as a tip, all you need to do to change between the three profiles is click left or right on the right scroll wheel while FSD is engaged. Thanks for another vid!

well I can tell you it seems to do nothing in 12.3

will it dodge potholes? Basic Autopilot does not.

12.2.1 did on some occasions but have not experience that with 12.3 may the right situation did not come up yet.
