Not sure how many 'comments' I've ever posted online, but it's single figures. But I wanted to thank you for this. I'd consider myself 'Advanced' on PPT, but as others have said, this is tremendous. Thank you, and congratulations for such a simply created tutorial.
Happy Star Wars Day! I incorporated this effect into my work presentation today that had NOTHING to do with Star Wars, but boy did it get cheers and applause. Thanks for the great tutorial!!
This is by far the best tutorial that I've found on this topic. And it works better than others with a lot of text. Thank you! I've learned that if the text is too long or too large, the animation may not work or not fly out as expected. As suggested by TTT in other comments, you will need to reduce the amount of text or reduce its size.
Hi Danny! I'm so glad you found it helpful! :) And thanks for the tip about the text size. It's hard to test out all combinations of things, so comments like this are great for others who watch the video. Cheers!
No way this is super-cool! I am going to use this for an intro on a technically dry presentation to try and warm up the audience! Do keep them coming 🥰
You are a genius. So many videos are filled with personal crap and presented by dry, monotone people. Thank you for your concise explanation of how to do this. I have liked and subscribed. You are a genius
thanks, I will be using this for my upcoming history presentation where I link my sources and I'll also put movie credits but all the roles will have my name
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting this tutorial! It helped me to develop a GREAT intro for a parody video that Im currently working on. Keep up the GREAT work! 😀
Very nice! I struggle with my text gettin bigger and bigger at the start line, so after 10sec i cant read it because the text goes out of the picture and not getting smaler as it disapear. 😅
@@TinyTechnicalTutorials I found that you can also type a custom value in the Duration box of the animations rather than being limited to the values in the pick list. For example, 30 seconds.
This is amazing!! My friends and I are starting a new role-playing game based on Star Wars and I wanted something to wow them with at our first meet - this is absolutely it! Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thank you for this tutorial! I am struggling . . . my text scroll introduces the whole first paragraph at once rather than line by line. What am I doing wrong?! I have adjusted font size but that doesn't help.
Thanks for watching, YoFunder! 😊 Hmmm...I wonder if you replaced the Motion Path animation with the Grow/Shrink animation? After adding the first animation, make sure you "add animation" to add a second one; otherwise, the first one will be replaced with the second one. Here's a screenshot if you need it: drive.google.com/file/d/1DwdY_3SwMprm-DvRP97F6CiCQSi3JH7E/view?usp=sharing. Not totally sure that's the problem, but I'd check that first.
I've rewatched this a few times and I can't find what I'm doing wrong but I can't get the animations to work. I've double and triple checked that every step matches what you are doing. UGH!
Oh no!! Sorry for the frustration. 😐 Feel free to email me at info@tinytechnicaltutorials.com. I'm happy to send you the deck from the video...it might work as a starting point?
Hi @TheIronTreeHouse! 👋 Hmmm...I don't think I've seen that issue before? If you want to shoot me an email to info@tinytechnicaltutorials.com, I can send you the deck that I used. Maybe you can just fill in your text and it will magically work?
I managed to get it to work, butwith specific conditions. My text was a bit longer, with three paragraphs totaling 144 words. It worked perfectly when the font size was kept below 40. However, as soon as I increased it to 48, like in the video, the "Up" animation got disrupted as the red dot moved and no matter how much I adjusted the animation pane, nothing seemed to fix it. But once I brought the font size back down, everything worked fine again. I even tried playing around with different animations, but couldn't find a solution. Any ideas?
Hey Ben! 😊 Hmmmm, interesting. I've definitely run into that issue with some other types of animations (like "Credits"), where over a certain amount/size of text, it just doesn't work. I don't have any great solutions other than maybe reducing the spacing between lines? That will reduce the overall vertical space that the text occupies, so might help. If you aren't sure how to do that, select your text, then on the ribbon, on the Home tab, click the little arrow on the lower right of that section (see this screenshot: drive.google.com/file/d/1-Bs-Bd7ZhfRHPOHznvI7X7tE_3iG9_4m/view?usp=sharing). Then adjust your spacing to something less than it is now. If it's "Single" now, you can choose "Multiple" and then type in .9 (or anything less than 1 until it [hopefully] makes a difference). Hopefully that helps! If it works, let me know here in the comments...it might help someone else too!
@@TinyTechnicalTutorials thank you for the response. We (Dad and Me) think you're right, in the issue being the spacing/length of the text, in tuning those, it began to work, but in crazy ways, floats straight to top of screen, text appearing all of sudden, which think is being caused by the timing/length of the effects. We are fine tuning it, to get it right and but well on our way to getting there.
Oh great! I'm glad you're making progress. 😊 For the text appearing at the top of the screen, that's probably an issue with the "soft edges" that get applied to the starry picture (I do this around 07:24 in the video). I realized not too long ago that my deck has this issue too, but I wasn't letting the text get high enough to see it. 😁 To test if that's the issue, you could try removing the soft edge and seeing if that fixes it. But the soft edge is kind of nice, so if you want to put it back in, try moving the picture up so that the "soft" part on the top of the picture is above the top border of the slide. Hopefully that makes sense!
Seems to work with small text groups, but if you add more text it seems to break the Grow/Shrink animation. Not sure why but Grow/Shrink messes up everything every time for me. If I remove it everything works fine except it no longer looks right. My overall length should be about 1:05 seconds.
Hi Mike! 👋 Yeah, I've had that issue with some animations too. It seems to have a limit on the amount of text, though it's hard to tell what that limit is. The only workaround I've found is to make the font smaller and/or split it onto two slides, which admittedly isn't the greatest look. If you figure something else out, feel free to update us here in case it helps someone else!
@@TinyTechnicalTutorials Thanks! Thought I was missing a hidden property or something, glad to see I am not crazy! :D Either way great tutorial very easy to follow so thank-you for taking the time to set it up.
It worked great once I reduced the amount of text being used. I also have not been successful exporting as a video file. It works correctly in preview & slideshow but not in Record or export as a video. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I wanted to include video in a podcast. Thanks,
Hi Keith! 👋 Glad you got it working. How are you trying to export the video? I just did a "Save As," then rather than saving it as a .pptx file, choose MPEG-4 video (*.mp4). Worked like a charm! A *.wmv file type will probably work as well. Hope that helps, and good luck with the podcast! 🤓🌟
Here's some info about the Fly In animation: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/animate-or-make-words-appear-one-line-at-a-time-cfb5ebdc-90cf-4324-8933-874c7c840175. Not sure if it'll work with 2000 words (you'll probably just have to try it), but you should be able to change the speed of it using the Effect and Timing tabs (see #5 in the article). Good luck! 😊
I'm not sure why, but in the relaxed 3D rotation style the text gets bigger and bigger and bigger -till it finally won't fit on the page. your illustration seems to have all the same size text. I can't figure out why my text is resizing
Hi elisewalton! 😊 Hmmmm...that's very strange. I haven't heard of that issue before. I just tried it again on mine, and can't seem to reproduce that issue. I wonder if your textbox is NOT doing an autofit or something? If you right-click on your textbox, go to "Format Shape" then check the properties. Here's a screenshot of what my settings are (it's resizing and wrapping the text): drive.google.com/file/d/1sQKmJqu20WGfG44FBHsCZcT_-8Qv0ugV/view?usp=sharing. Hope that helps!
man i couldnt get this one to work either. i just want lyrics to scroll the screen but it stops in the middle when i try to use the credits animation and then just has the middle of the lyrics not moving with this one
Hi Moon Light! :) I've had this issue before when I use lots of large text on a single slide. I've found that reducing the size of the font will make more of it scroll. And/or you could try separating it onto two slides, though that's probably a little clunkier having to transition the slides.
Hi @IrfanAli-bs8nm! 😊 Ooh, interesting! In theory, you should be able to just do the reverse on the animation (starting from the top and moving to the bottom). But looking at the options for perspective of the textbox (under Shape Format-->Text Effects-->3D Rotation-->Perspective), I don't see a great option for the reverse of "Relaxed" (which is what I'm using to disappear "into" the slide). There are some that skew off to the side, but nothing that looks like it's coming from the back of the slide. If I can figure out a way to do it, I'll loop back here!
Hey Elias! 😊 I've tried to figure out how this is happening, but am not coming up with any great ideas. Can you confirm which version of PowerPoint you're using, and if it's on a PC or a Mac?
That's so weird. The only thing I can think of is that it's doing some sort of autofit/resizing. See if you can turn that off? Here's a link if you need it: www.avantixlearning.ca/microsoft-powerpoint/how-to-turn-off-autofit-in-powerpoint-presentations.
I have a long list of error messages, like 100 of them, and I want a scrolling window within PowerPoint when I am presenting instead of opening a new Word window.
Hi yogibearstie! Maybe you could try something like in this video? th-cam.com/video/cA8NrngZnv4/w-d-xo.html. Not sure if you'll be able to fit everything on one slide (the scrolling can get cut off at some point). Might have to spread it across a couple slides.
