  • Today I'm going to walk you through my EASY step-by-step process of how I get my OLD, ratty, tangly, clumping together heat-friendly synthetic wigs to look brand NEW again. My demonstration will be on my 2 year old Simmer wig by Raquel Welch in colour Shaded Biscuit RL19/23SS. I've worn her EVERY day for the last two years, and with this technique to refresh her, I've managed to keep her looking amazing, prolonging her life, and ultimately saving money in the long run. (With this technique, my heat-friendly wigs just don't die...)

      @@WigsWithSteph I’m so grateful I found your channel. You’ve given me a ton of courage! I’m nervous about wearing a wig for the first time, but then I remind myself of how self-conscious I feel about my real hair. 🙃 I have an appointment at a big wig shop next month to get fitted, some education, and try a few on. All at your recommendation! Thank you for helping this mom of 4 littles feel like I can take pride in my appearance again. ♥️

    Wow, Steph!!! 🤩 After watching your video, I took a chance on my JR-Miranda (not HF) that I love. I had just about given up on wearing her, so I figured I had nothing to lose. After washing her as per your technique & letting her dry, I very gently steamed (on low) some of the worst looking fibers while setting them with a (not plugged in) barrel curler. Then I ever so slightly trimmed a few ends that I just couldn’t restore. I was ecstatic over the results! I felt like a professional wig restorer! The real test was how she held up in the field: She totally passed. I checked, and Miranda is currently on Pre-Order for nearly double the price I originally paid for her. I cannot thank you enough🤗. You are my new wig-bestie and go-to channel. You will be a great champion in the wig community!

    Ok Stephanie Wow wow wow I have to tell you, I’ve worn Raquel Welch wigs for 5 years and could never restore them until I found this video by YOU! I could have saved thousands of dollars if I had found you sooner! So many videos on wig care are insufficient and just don’t do the job! I tried your method and zow it works! Thank you so much! HI!!! Oh my goodness, I AM SOOOO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! I hope you adore Simmer! I was obsessed. Simmer still to this day is my Go-To. I wear her so much, because she's that beautiful. When you get her right out of the box, keep in mind that it might be a little bit poofy, (at least it was for me and I was second guessing my decision way back when), but I kept her, and kept wearing her, and then suddenly BAM I figured out the best way it would look on my head- I made the part go to the other side, and WOW. I recommend playing around with Simmer when you put her on your head, because once you find the best way to wear her, WOW, she's just going to look so good. And I bet you'll get tons of compliments on the shaded biscuit color!!! It's so stunning!!!! XOXO

    Hey Steph! LOVE your videos! Great quality and editing! LOVE your positivity! I’ve played with wigs and toppers for about 6 years but still at the “cheap Amazon topper” phase. I’ve also been a human hair snob but I can’t afford the name brands. You’ve inspired me and I just ordered my first name brand synthetic heat defiant topper! Cannot wait to try it out.
    Could you create a video showing the tools you use? Wig stands, combs, etc. I need to order some stuff but cannot waste money and would love your suggestions/advice. I know you’ve listed some in some of your video descriptions but I’d love a full video talking about all this stuff.
    Thanks again and keep the great videos coming! And congrats on your baby!!! 🍼

    • @WigsWithSteph
      @WigsWithSteph  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, restyling is something I do. Sometimes I want to wear her straight though so I’ll keep her like that for a few weeks, and then I’ll decide to change it up and use the straightener to put the wave back into her. I’m actually going to be doing another video soon on how I get the wave I do for Simmer with the straightener! ☺️

I was wondering if you could help me with a couple of questions… The ends of my hair on my wig have become super course and stick together so badly. @WigsWithSteph  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I typically use the Dr. bronners soap. On the off chance that I’ve run out and want to do a quick rinse, laundry detergent has worked perfectly fine for me, followed by the softener. The same method as using the softener or washing with soap, put a little bit of detergent into pail or bucket, and then fill with water. Put wig in. Rinse our. Then follow with softener.

      The shampoo is a pure castile liquid soap by Dr. Bronner's. It is excellent at getting makeup off lace, while still being super gentle. It gets the dirt out of my wigs, and always is my GO-TO. I get the unscented.
