Tried Firestick - way too many ads / and Alexa is ALWAYS listening, so I stay away from any Amazon product. ( and it's already been proven even if you manually disable Alexa it still listens - a real privacy issue for me ) .
Roku had over double the amount of apps to download than Firestick. Only thing Roku doesn't have is Dolby Atmos - which I'm sure will be coming in the near future.

The ads are content you can watch by clicking on the ad. This menu anyone can access but the real hidden menu is accessed with star, up, down, and side arrows if you know the sequence.

Thank you for going through the menus. I have the 4k + Roku express. I do not have to aim my remote directly at the unit.
I can turn my back on the unit and aim towards the opposite wall and it works. I can aim through my laptop screen. (laptop on and open) while sitting about 3 feet from the unit and it works. I can walk about twenty feet down the hallway, walk into the bathroom and close the door. It still worked. I have an older 720p tv. I wonder why yours needs direct aim?
I stand in front of the tv and my remote does not always work. It is very frustrating.

I don't know if it's because you're in Canada or using a Roku premiere, but on os 11.5.0 build 4235 like you have there should be 7 options to add to the menu on the home screen such as. What to watch, featured free, live tv, the buzz, sports, my feed and my offers. Keep making videos because I really like your channel. Thanks

The title is misleading. None of these are the "hidden" settings. This was just a basic run through the general regular old settings. There are hidden settings but this video doesn't go over those at all.
I'm in Hungary, have sn Ultra and don't have search, featured free nor save list. Would you expect such? While I have and Amazon prime and HBO ourchased locally (as they ste available here) these were never offered by the Roku. Would you expect that? Finally, would it make sense to get a VPN and if so should I get a separate router?

my problem is while watching long running sports events. Right at 4 hours my roku auto logs me out right in the middle of my event. I had this feature disable before I did a factory reset of my roku device but can't find it after the rest... PLEASE HELP!!
I have the Roku Express 4K+ and he is incorrect about having to point the remote directly to the device. I can point in the general direction and it works fine. 11:34
Is there a way to get around the need to use the special HDMI cable supplied with the Roku? If you use a HDMI cable that doesn't have EVERY pin connected or if you use older HDMI equipment, the Roku wont work!
On the big Roku units you can use any hdmi cable you have. It will test the cable and TV and set it up for the best picture resolution that the cable and TV support.
The top Ultra version will support up to 4k Dolby Vision and if everything is compatible with that mode that's what it picks.
You can also manually pick the resolution and it will show a does it work screen for like 15 seconds then revert back to the original settings if you don't hit yes.
I haven't used the stick versions so they probably have the special cables but the full sized units can use any hdmi cable you have.
Well the remote might be annoying but the remote on your phone for Roku is sweet you can use it through the wall 🤷🏻♀️
The Roku premiere isn't supported by Roku anymore. That's why you're missing features

Probably depends on the TV and your luck.
I have a 2019 65 825 mini LED TCL and it's been pretty flawless and has worked and looked great since I got it in February 2020.
It was their uber top end set but no problems so far.

If your TV has roku built in, you can change it under power settings, so the TV automatically turns on the input that you want

Roku sucks. There are no features in the world that can replace the simple functions like turning on the TV. And Roku has a problem doing the common things. Do not buy.
I love my Rokus - Roku Ultra for my old plasma TV in the living room and my TCL 32" Roku TV in my office which doubles as a computer monitor. Some of the best purchases I ever made.

I have the Roku 4K streaming stick and sorry to say, I disagree with you. Firestick has way more ads, way too busy an interface, and Alexa built in is in itself a security concern you can never turn off.
Roku has more than double the channels available than Firestick.
@@Audiomainia2310 If you're speaking cosmetics and features that's more about preference as opposed to bad or faulty gear and assistance or lack thereof. Give it time. It's a whole different ball game when you aren't able to even get to the bells, whistles nor any of the cosmetics.
ROKU provides the convenience and access to cable company set-top box content without the set-top box. It is easy to set-up and easy-to-use. Now, if you are burdened with having to do anything more than just turn on the TV, then antenna-based content will be the best solution for you. If you are willing to engage in the "back-breaking labor" of pushing a few extra clicks and buttons though, you can access modern-day content (and classic too, for that matter) at a reasonable price. ROKU is a good value and a great TV experience. I endorse it.
