You can also use the private listening to connect your roku to a Bluetooth speaker/sound system. We just recently used this for our outdoor theater set up and it worked perfectly!
I tested it with a Bluetooth smart speaker (Nest) and it worked. I'll stick to my TV speakers though, as there is a 0.1 second lag between lip motion and audio.
@@blakespower It's one fewer hop from the TV to your ears, which lessens the time delay. @@thatguyalex2835 I wish more TVs would come with the ability to delay the picture by a split second to make up for that. Have had a Roku Ultra for years, just three of the tips I've used are removing apps, moving apps and to a lesser degree vote on channel. Seems I had a upgraded ff, from start of paid advertising to end of advertising is a snap.
Thanks for these, especially avoiding the oji board typing nightmare. I already use the "private listening" to transfer sound to my JBL Charge 4 as my 32" Sony tv does not have great speakers and the JBL is very crisp and clear and I can put the speaker closer to me than the tv.
The best thing on the Roku app for me is getting to use wireless headphones with an older tv that doesn’t have Bluetooth capability built-in or a Roku remote with a built-in headphone Jack. But it doesn’t work on hotel networks for me which I hope Roku can fix one day.
I got a Roku (That I guess I really over paid for), while visiting the US recently. Given it was the Cheap 40$ dongle thing, that costs less than 20€s here for. It never had a Headphone Jack. Hopefully I'll be able to get my VPN Service off my Phone, and into the wider LAN soon to take advantage of having a US based Roku. Again not nowing that that side was less Hardware, and more of an Internet Setup side, of it.
@AlbertaStrength There is plenty of free Channels on Roku as well as the major Streaming Services. Besides the Roku Channel, and the movies to be found there-in it also has Pluto TV, which is more or less the same thing. As someone who has used an nVida Shield (Android TV), these last five years. I have to say, that I find the UI, of the Roku to be more simplistic, and less cluttered than that of Googles Android TV Platform.
I'm glad this video popped up in my TH-cam feed, I just ordered my Roku box system and this will help me set it up properly right away. Thank you so much, I can't wait for it to get here.
My major grip about Roku is the remote and inability to select tv channels except by using up and down arrows since there is no numeric keypad! Is there workaround for that, perhaps with the app?
Along with others, I feel a need to point out that Twitch doesn't work on Roku. I know you showed in the video, but it doesn't actually work. Might want to edit that part out maybe.
You may want to add an extra disclaimer to the private channels section or just remove it entirely. Roku shutdown/removed all the private channels back in February and replaced it with a beta system that limits the amount of users. Wow I already knew this stuff. You forgot to mention for blind people, I am blind, but specifically blind people who are totally new to the roku and just got it, there is a screen reader. If you showed that in another video, great! But if you haven't, well, then, other blind viewers might be confused because they didn't know it had a screen reader. Since you're not blind, you might not be used to a device reading something to you, it will drive you crazy, but the screen reader is there for a reason, it's because there are blind people who use it. It needs to be accessible with screen readers, and luckily, it is. I've played around with these things. Hopefully you understand the accessibility needs for us blind people, and can possibly make a video to other blind people about how to use the roku with a screen reader. Unfortunately, for those who are blind and speak more than one language, the roku only supports english for the screen reader, but that really doesn't matter to me, because I only speak english. But yes. It is accessible. You press the star button for times to turn it on, and the same to turn it off. I do get frustrated when I have to use a virtual keyboard with it, because I hate virtual keyboards! LOL

The USB input for an external hard drive was one of the reasons I initially bought a Roku, so I could watch TV shows, movies, etc that I had already downloaded to my computer. Most of these I found by accident, I got the app because my remote quit then just yesterday found out that I could mirror just didn’t know what it actually was the problem I have is picture quality! Picture quality takes a while to go from all fuzzy to Almost 1080p but not sharp a little fuzzy! I am working with a Roku 1 if Santa hears my plea I’ll have something better since all my others are hand me downs including the huge smart flat screen !
Great video, thank you for posting. The best feature you did not mention in your list is the voice recognition feature when you press and hold the mic down. I ask bc I don't watch TV much really. However I do watch a little TH-cam on my PC and was wondering if that would suffice. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.
Roku makes your "smart" TV smart. The only downside is the remote breaks easily. A few drops and the battery cover is toast. Another drop or two and it's completely done. Amazon has remote covers. They work great!
Why is there no sound when mirroring NewsMaxplus. Something about gaming mode turned off. I cannot find anything about gaming on Roku. Thanks for any help.
Do the Roku's remote's FF and RW buttons perform the same way in a different app? I noticed with my old normal tv remote, it would behave differently in Prime versus Netflix (fast forwards normally in one app, then goes to the next video in another app, or goes forward one frame at a time etc. with the same button), I wish to have one where the buttons behave the same way for all the apps. Do you know of a streaming hardware/stick that does? thanks
Thanks!

I love the remote app and use bluetooth headsets or wired headphones. But the #1 issue I have is it stops playing all the time. Not sure if it's the app or a setting on my phone.

Great video man! Very practical and excellent, concise delivery.
Great video, thank you for posting. The best feature you did not mention in your list is the voice recognition feature when you press and hold the mic down. You can find almost anything and Roku does a pretty good job at giving you all the options within roku.
Many times do you guys find yourself in this scenario.. you just watched the great show you kind of remember the name but you do not remember the app that you watched it on. This is when this feature is very helpful.

How to connect it to home theater or sound bar for effective audio sombady help ,????
simple, straight forward and informative. Thanks I am now a subscriber.
I didn't watch the entire video so I apologize if you addressed the question I'm posing here. I'd just like to know if this ROKU device needs to necessarily be connected to a TV.
Do you know of a streaming hardware/stick that does? thanks
