Classic backpedalling saying "we're all mates when we're on the field together". This mans decisions was a partial causation for the sacking of a manager, this is a very well rehearsed story Mike Dean has told himself in the mirror many times over these past few days and has convinced himself so much that this'll work that he genuinely believes he has got off scott free in the eyes of the footballing community. Diabolical unprofessionalism which screams corruption. He talks about junior members not wanting to make the call feeling the more senior officials may look undermined. I have never once though worse of the ref after a correct VAR call was made. VAR should be it's own independent organisation with no association to any of the refs. The EPL refs are all self centred narcasistic personalities anyway and a real mate would let their mate know if they have made the wrong decision

This is a load of codswallop. What exactly was he protecting "his mate" from? A brisk walk to the screen? If Taylor missed the hair pull, wouldn't the best thing be to help his colleague have the best game possible and get every call correct? Dean obviously thought a hair pull wasn't worth the hassle and took the decision to overlook it upon himself. That's the thing about Dean - he likes taking centre stage. Like when he tried to hide the hat-trick ball from Aguero a few seasons back.

Thomas Tuchel got sacked because his record was not good enough. One of the results that contributed to that record was this game, in which Mike Dean put his perianal feelings ahead of the objectivity that VAR is supposed to represent. Mistakes can always be made, however this decision directly taints the objectivity of VAR. Never again can we be certain that a Mike Dean decision is not affected by tother considerations. As such he should never be allowed to work in VAR again.

  • @ThePhildalegend

They say football is entertainment give the fans what they have wanted for since its inception.
