This is amazing Iclal! It's my dream to learn Russian to fluency. I'm learning both Welsh and Russian at the moment. Thanks so much for the wonderful tips.
I never thought that Russian pronunciation is so difficult for foreigners, so watching more and more videos on youtube about learning Russian, I was surprised by this information. I guess native language for each person sounds easier than other languages. 😁 I don't like modern Russian music and actually don't know much about it, but Кино is completely another story. One of my favourite groups since childhood. Unfortunately, solist died too early. I was at a place where he died (it's about 60 km from my house). There is a monument with lots of flowers, candles in every season. And also your playlist has many other groups I used to listen to (and some I still listen to from time to time). I think immersion is very important. I don't watch modern Russian tv-series or movies, so I don't know many slang words or regional words that are used in Russia. But we use other words that entered our Russian version from Latvian language. Rarely someone uses word автовокзал - we go with Autoosta (аутоуоста), вокзал - Stacija (стация), ревень - rabarber and so on. We usually don't realize that not all words we use are really Russian. Maybe that's ehy my relatives in Russia say that I have a Baltic accent. 😁
It usually depends on the learner's native language. If someone's native language is French or English, then they would definitely find the Russian pronounciation challenging. I can speak fluent Arabic and it made it easier for me to pronounce Russian, making me sound like a native.
Another amazing video. I am still struggling with my five kids (English, German, French, Spanish and Turkish). I plan to start Russian as soon as I feel comfortable with them. Cheers 🌹🌹
Excellent advice, I am in my first year of learning Russian, I started at 14.5 years of age. I look forward to seeing similar videos, especially in Russian Language - Спасибо большое
Are you still learning Russian ? I'm just wondering if we could learn together I can help you with Russian and you could help me with English. Let me know what you think about that I'll be looking forward to your answer
2:09 Actually there is a rule on this one. It’s called reduction and appears not only in Russian but also in English for example. In Russian /o/ does not appear in a non-stressed position, so the letter “o” stands for sounds close to /a/. This rule applies to the vowels that stand for “a” and “o”. The first vowel before the stressed syllable and the vowels placed at the very end and at the beginning are the vowel /ʌ/ (like cup in english /kʌp/). It’s the first level of reduction. Other vowels sound like /ə/ (like in the first syllable of the word “ferocity”)(in Russian transcription tradition this sound is written like /ъ/). It’s the second level of reduction. So, for example a phrase like “нет молока” would be transcribed like /n’et mъlʌka/. Thank you for your video.
Right! In the same way, we pronounce "е" and "я" as [и] in an unstressed position. It's a rule. You can hear it in the frase "Как дела?" I made an online course about pronounciation rules in Russian, there are a lot of rules)
Hello Iclal(sorry if wrote the name wrong)! Thank you very much for your videos! You really inspire people to learn languages! Wonderful guide. Mechanically speaking, that's pretty much how I learn new langs too. But I tend to use a good book in A1 level. Then at A2, I branch out to audiobook, book and a third resource which uses written based immersion, can be digital or book, like Assimil. And finally when transitioning to B1, I begin to listen to immersion based audio courses, advance grammar book, and try to find videos to learn new lang. Finally to reach B2 and beyond, I just keep reading + watching videos in target language.
omg! You are soooo inspiring. Learning languages is my own pain because making mistakes scares me. I respect you a lot. After your video I wanna learning languages again. Sorry for my bad English in fact I am Russian, but I realised I understood all of you said. And it is motivated a lot. Now I start learning Korean and continue English and I hope in future i will be more brave to speaking in foreign languages in real life. Thank you for your video! Your Russian sounds really good!! Actually there is a rule on this one.
