Great discussion of the Powerboost. Around the 7 min mark you discussed the small battery pack next to the fuel tank that could run the electrical outlet in the back of the bed while the truck engine is not running. How long can that powerboost charge run something off that battery until it runs out? And what might the range be depending on which outlet, the 7 or less, is being used? And lastly, if that battery runs out, can you still start the engine, and run it/drive it?
$85k is believable because the market says it’s $85k. Is this worth $85k , I don’t think so. Tow and payload capacity are diminished because of the trim which takes away from the basic task a truck was made for.
what the diffrence between the Platinum's Continuous Control Damping Suspension and the Tremor suspension? specifically, towards paved roads and pot holes? Love the looks of the Tremor, but, would I be losing a lot of comfort? Also, if you get a Platinum with the FX4 off road package, does that "delete" the CCD?

The only things my 24 Lariat doesn't have that this one does is the Platinum badging in the interior, the massaging seats, the sunroof (because I didn't want it) and the dealer option illuminated front badge.
Hey I have a 2023 F150 XLT that I bought new with the FP700 package. The Whipple warranty doesn’t cover anything. What other warranties are paired with this package? It was dealer installed and dealer serviced, it sits as it was delivered.

This is an interesting set up especially with the generator function since I live in hurricane country. I've seen some other videos citing a lot of issues with the powerboost system, has anyone had any personal experience with them they can share?
I’ve had 5 platinum 150s until they got to 80k. I went with a TRX, I get all the amenities and 700 hp. For 85k. I will be buying my son a STX with the 5.0.@ 47 k with current discounts..

I spent 79k on a brand new ‘22 Platinum Powerboost. Was thrilled for about a month. Constant issues with the infotainment system, crazy random static from the B&O sound system, blue cruise stopped working due to the rear camera failing and random drive train issues with the electric motor. I was crushed. Sold the truck for a loss. Maybe they solved some of these issues with the new model? But not worth an 85k gamble to me…
Beautiful truck in all blacked out.. but I like the platinum and king ranch plaque that goes along the tailgate.. looks like they aren't doing that now?? Helps the truck stand out from others.
Yes I just went out of town and rented and f150 with the powerboost. It was insane. First day, drove 95 miles and averaged 27.5 mpg cruise control at 65 mph.

I own a 2015 Platinum with the 5.0 and love it. I ordered every possible option with the exception of the Ecoboost. I wanted the 5.0 with the 3.73. Now if I ever decide to get another Platinum I can’t have the 5.0 and have to go to the Lariat instead? Not sure what Ford is thinking. I know I can load up Lariat to the same options and pricing as a Platinum. Guess it’s a Lariat next time or maybe I’ll just keep mine.
I remember just 5 or so years ago, the fact that fully loaded Super Duties were in the 80s was outrageous. Now half tons are in the 80s and Super Duties are 6 figures. It's absurd. I know there is a ton of tech that is very expensive in these trucks. But it's another sign we are headed into another depression. Vehicles cost more than yearly salaries, interest rates are commonly double digits. Time to stick with what we got. Weak men make hard times, that's where we are, the start of hard times.
I wish Ford would stop limiting the 4Auto to Termor/Lariat and above. Put it in the XLT for goodness sakes. Big horn has 4auto. Guess it's a good way to push people to an additional 10k work of truck.
Great point. There’s nothing that distinguishes this from lower trims. Secondly, limiting it to the Ecoboost and no 5.0 is a mistake. I’d rather fork over the money for a Tremor.
My take is "penny pinching". It costs less to not put the applique on the tailgate. Personally, I think the stamped F-150 tailgate looks cheap and shouldn't be on anything above XLT. But here we are... $85k and the tailgate looks the same as the XL.
Still waiting on Ford to include a digital rearview mirror to give you an unobstructed, high definition, wide view of what’s behind your vehicle without any passenger heads in the way!
The antennas are still so long, because they are just above roof height. So if your going to be too high for an area, your antenna is the indicator that you should stop now before turning your truck into a convertible.
I believe that suspension system locks the dampers for a split second as the wheel traverses the pothole, what do I mean? It prevents the wheel from extending into the pothole so it holds it at ground level. Pretty simple way to accomplish it actually. Brilliant too, just close the variable valving that adjusts for compression and rebound and it will lock the damper at that location in its travel. Where I live, potholes are life and if this keeps the wheel from dropping into the pothole at speed, then it’s gonna save my truck, my back and my teeth.
It's too bad about those hood vents being cosmetic, though they do look good, so better to have them than not. That said, I suspect the reason they are only cosmetic is so they can more fully insulate the underside of the hood with sound deadening materials for this high end, luxury version of the F150, to help keep the cabin even more quiet. And I do appreciate that. I wonder, are the windows treated for sound dampening and double paned as well to further quiet the cabin? That would be great.
The story I heard/read was that the antenna still exists on the fender because rural buyers of pickup trucks don't always have access to Sirius XM. The mast antenna lets them "more easily" receive over-the-air broadcasts (farm reports, weather warnings, etc.) when needed. It seems plausible.
Sirius XM is satellite radio. If you can see the sky, you can get a signal. Now, the long antenna likely can pull in a weak signal better than a shorter antenna, but Sirius XM reception is not the reason. I put a very short antenna on my truck because I never listen to FM/AM. Looks a lot better.

@@RadDadisRad that’s because the 5.0 is outdated plus you don’t want the new 5.0 anyway because it has Cylinder deactivation. The 3.5 eco boost and the power boost are better engines, with the same horsepower power and more torque, higher tow capacity and higher fuel tank capacity option
Marketing material on Ford website says the Platinum has dual under bumper exhausts like on the black appearance package. Not on truck. No bueno. Also the configurater shows the multi function tailgate included with the bed utility package. Not on truck. Disappointed Ford. Are rear wheel well liners standard for $85,000?
The 3.5 V6 is notoriously difficult to own. It will cost when things go wrong. The Coyote V8 is probably the best to go with but unfortunately you can’t by it this iteration
2.7 seems much better to me. Had a 19 we put 100k miles on with the 5.0. Traded it in for a 24 with the 2.7 ecoboost and I wouldn't go back. The 5.0 got 16 mpg at 70mph on 50 mile round trips for YEARS. The 2.7 is averaging 21 on the same trip.
Its like the old Lincoln truck to match what Cadillac did. Very nice. Really like the Baja interior we see on some w admrial blue interior accents . Our family had a T-Bird w the Midnight Blue.
IMO luxurious means it should have all available options in today’s market items would include full heated, and ventilated front and rear seats, fully functional exterior vents with option to add a remove 415 inch center screen like in some of the other Ford models, optional Alcanterra leather option and option to choose which bed length you want. The only thing keeping me from buying the lightning is that it does not come with HUD.
@@notme3184 it’s a rarely used feature in a rear seat so it’s not really a plus lol I have never had anyone ask to use ventilated seats in the rear, heated though absolutely
The truck is stunning in all black ....but I'm really struggling with that $85,000 price tag. That's ridiculous ! I drive a perfectly great 2012 All black F150 that I purchased new that I love ....I think I will keep it for now.
I'm glad they got rid of the Chrome applique on the back. Looks much cleaner imo. Very nice truck, and no, I still can get used to the price, but people will pay it so they will keep charging it.
Yeah, I don’t need to wait until the end of the video to tell you that this is not worth $85,000. It’s absolutely stupid and insane that somebody would pay that much for a pick up truck or any vehicle for that matter.
I'm also a life long ford owner and have not only a 22 Bronco but a 16 F150 Platinum. What Ford has done is priced most people out of owning a new higher end truck, hell even some mid models too. In 8 short years they have almost doubled the cost of the Platinum. That truck at best is $60k, go drive by a Ford dealership and you will see tons of truck and Broncos on the lots, why you ask? Because in my opinion Ford got greedy like others and has priced vehicles out of range to own. No one wants to finance a vehicle for 10 years to be able to afford it, yet most cars, truck and SUV's are just that, unaffordable. $1000 a month payments are impossible for most, with the cost of everything else going up, I'll keep mine serviced and drive it as long as I can. Plus my F150 has the 5.0 which is a must for me. The 2.7 in the Bronco is okay, but they should have never deleted the 5.0!!
In the XLT video, I said that I thought 70K+ for an XLT was insulting. And I still believe that, considering that the XLT is supposed to be one step up from the XL. But, I feel like the XL is a little too expensive also. 85 grand is a lot of money and far to many of us won’t be able to afford it because it’s more than we make in a year. But I think what this platinum is equipped with and offers is on par with a lot of luxury cars that cost the same or more. Ford would do good to give this truck a 5L option for those who want it.
As a Platinum owner, aint no way im paying 85k for the Ecoboost (and mine is an EB, great engine). Powerboost is cool and id use it a lot in my construction business. Really dont like what they've done to the front end, starting to look slightly Ram-ish. Taking the platinum billboard off the back was a mistake, if you're gonna do that, at least emboss it into the metal of the truck. Status and impressions absolutely factor into buying decisions at this level for most people. Interior looks incredible, (work surface!) dislike the blue. I'm painting that B&O speaker black the first day. twin panel sunroof is dope. HUD is cool. Likely i an a lot of buyers are waiting for a true plug-in hybrid that will bridge the gap to the Ford Lightning. The powerboost seems like a half-step in a good direction, but hybrid gassers make a lot of sense for light and medium duty trucks. Give me meaningful electric-only range and control over when im using the gas or electric part of the system. Also regen braking if they can manage it. Question: Blue Cruise? towing capacity? Powerboost Battery warrantied under powertrain 60k?
You are right it does look a little Ram-ish in the front - personally I like that. Like you I do miss the platinum placard on the back - should at least be an option.

Keeping it simple: No they are not worth $85,000.
Isn’t the Limited a higher priced trim?
Yes, what stinks is the Platinum is no longer available with the 5.0
WHY THEY PRETEND THEY DON'T OFFER A 5.0 AFTER 2014 IS BECAUSE THEY'RE INTERESTED IN SPEED AND PERFORMANCE THEY THINK THE ECOBOOST IS FASTER THAN 5.0!!!!!!!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
@@SquidsCareToo BS, add a whipple or Roush 2650 to the 5.0 and it’s an absolute animal. Blows the ecoboost out of the water.
@@SquidsCareToo also the 5.0 and 3.5 both come with the 36gal option so don’t include fuel capacity in your talking points.
ONLY IF it blew me every time I got into the truck then it would be worth $85,000.
Youll end up paying more for your marriage and your wife doesn't blow you. Treat yourself brother!
Just take your mom along
@@TH-camuser1aa Great idea she can keep your mother company.
Looks like the Limited is history
Limited is now called Platinum plus for 2024.
@@jmasoncars4452 but it doesn't have the blue interior theme
@tylerbuck9347 yeah, the blue is gone for 2024.
Its like the old Lincoln truck to match what Cadillac did. Very nice. Really like the Baja interior we see on some w admrial blue interior accents . Our family had a T-Bird w the Midnight Blue.
Fords are Number 1!
That grill would look a lot better if it didn't have the Ford logo on it
92,645.00 and that includes Chrome Rims Chrome Power Running Boards and the Seats that go Full Horizontal. And the Moonroof is Standard!!
Yup should have included the 5.0
IMO luxurious means it should have all available options in today’s market items would include full heated, and ventilated front and rear seats, fully functional exterior vents with option to add a remove 415 inch center screen like in some of the other Ford models, optional Alcanterra leather option and option to choose which bed length you want. The only thing keeping me from buying the lightning is that it does not come with HUD.
That's a beautiful truck and a great color
You can always tell how luxurious a vehicle is by looking at the back seat. This truck doesn't even have rear ventilated seats. So I would say no
It has rear heated seats
@@SquidsCareToo
Yeah and so many other trucks have rear ventilated also
@@notme3184 it’s a rarely used feature in a rear seat so it’s not really a plus lol I have never had anyone ask to use ventilated seats in the rear, heated though absolutely
@SquidsCareToo
No ford f150/super duty has rear ventilated seats including the 2024 model years
@@SquidsCareToo Actually it doesn't. Sad to say, but i do love these trucks.
The truck is stunning in all black ....but I'm really struggling with that $85,000 price tag. That's ridiculous ! I drive a perfectly great 2012 All black F150 that I purchased new that I love ....I think I will keep it for now.
Definitely almost! 🙃🍷🛻
It is a beautiful truck, it is also $115,000 in Canada.
I'm glad they got rid of the Chrome applique on the back. Looks much cleaner imo. Very nice truck, and no, I still can get used to the price, but people will pay it so they will keep charging it.
Nah..it sux now it looks like a lesser trim
I love that this channel used RedneckTV's vid for the v8 part at 7:37. his channel is great.
Yeah, I don’t need to wait until the end of the video to tell you that this is not worth $85,000. It’s absolutely stupid and insane that somebody would pay that much for a pick up truck or any vehicle for that matter.
I would pay extra to NOT have a dumb lit up emblem
For 85k I want more than 3/36k. 5/60 PT warranty.
It's always the high end trucks that are sold out despite the price. You can't walk into a dealership and find a bunch of Platinums sitting there...
I never understood the hype over blue cruise, all you need in my opinion is the lane centering and adaptive cruise control
You are right it does look a little Ram-ish in the front - personally I like that. Like you I do miss the platinum placard on the back - should at least be an option.
Ram has the most luxurious truck right now.
Invoice pricing?? does this mean that I would get an A or D plan??? I already get a Z plan!!!
