I say 'roll-ay', so thanks for the correction! The most photos I took were with 126 and 110 cameras waaaaay back in the day. I like SLR, but I've bought an A110 from ebay (will it work....?) to have some fun & to have a camera with me all the time, like I used to.
i'm looking at these on ebay right now (per your comment about diana baby vs rollei a110), and many are untested which is :[ , but, question came to mind due to someone's listing; does the shutter button not shoot if there is no battery? i did end up buying the diana baby but still interested in the a110 or even the e110.. I am going to Japan next month and maybe hopefully find some nice cameras to touch/inspect in person.
Yeah the shutter won’t fire without a battery (which can also be hard to find, depending on your country), so that can make testing them a bit annoying. I wish you the very best in your Japanese camera searches!
I've got 1 of these but not sure if the 2 batteries it came with are dead. The light at the top isn't coming on. Although the shutter clicks it's not a firm click and I don't think the film is advancing
Hi Suecoo. The shutter isn’t very firm, and actually a bit easy to accidentally press. But you’ll hear a tiny little click, and the film will only advance if a photo has been taken. But the battery check light is the biggest indicator. If that’s not coming on then there is a chance the battery is dead (it happened to me that the battery was fine and then after a couple days in the camera it died… even I wasn’t using it). Or the A110 itself could be faulty, which would be a shame.
Yes, kind of. The aperture opens and acts as the first curtain of the shutter, then once enough time has passed for the correct exposure, a second piece closes to finish the exposure. (then that is all reset into position when you wind on to the next frame)
@@BRZDR Although now I'm doubting myself! I actually don't have mine on hand, as I'm in the process of moving house. I'd suggest going over and asking here th-cam.com/video/mls7B9vKPo4/w-d-xo.html

Hey thanks for the comment! I think at this point pronounce Rollei however you like, but best of luck with your new camera!
After this, there was another one :O
Nice done Norbi !!!!
Thank you Maurice ! Stay tuned for moooore
there is no flash option for this camera?
There is a flash adapter (briefly visible on the right at 0:22) but it uses flash cubes which are pretty hard to come by/expensive.

I just bought a Rollei A110 and appreciate your video.
Thank you so much. Enjoy it.

do you think the aperture and the shutter is just one mechanism?
Yes, kind of.

Hey, great video and a great camera! What battery do you use for it?
Thanks Martin. It takes a S27PX, which you can get for about $10 from B&H
That's a very early example. It's got the early flat shutter button.
Oh interesting fact, thanks!
Found one recently, just ordered film. Mine doesn't have the green focus marker.. is it linear enough that I can guess?
Oh interesting. I would whack it all the way to infinity then and leave it there.
@@NorbiWhitney Will do! When I'm looking through the viewfinder, is infinity when the focus tab is all the way to the right?
@@BRZDR Yeah the mountain range is infinity.
@@NorbiWhitney Thanks! just wanted to make sure the direction isn't reversed to the focus guide

I actually don't have mine on hand, as I'm in the process of moving house.

Can you use this camera with reloaded film or does it need perforations to work?
Hi Jim,
It's a great question which I unfortunately don't know the answer to.
My mother had one of these in the seventies, a white one. It was a charm. Unfortunately I don't know what happened to it , She doesn't also...
Oh nice! I think the silver ones were called E110. Shame it’s disappeared.
First there was nothing, Then there was this comment.
The camera is the star of the show you need to think about the situation and FOCUS on the Cam. Jesus F C
