@@victorshopov4913 thanks for stopping by Victor. Really glad you enjoyed it!
just discovered your channel. Great stuff ! If they weren’t hard to get maybe I would buy buying a med format camera 😅
@@SpencerLupul thanks for the kind words! What are you having trouble with in terms of buying MF cameras? Maybe I can help.
Amazing model!
@@kiczcock gotta say, she’s pretty amazing.
You’re right, at least it’s a new camera to the space
@@MrBaskins2010 can’t disagree with that
My thoughts on your review: 1. I think you should pull away from the video camera so that your arms arent cut off and the lomography camera is always in view. 2. I had been mulling over whether to buy this camera and you convinced me not to by pointing out things I saw no other reviewer point out. Its strange no one mentioned that the splitzer covers the viewfinder. 3. I hope you get more views because this video did more for my understanding of this camera than all of the others. 4. Can you cover the lomomatic (preferably the more expensive versions)?
@@Carthodon thanks for the in depth comment! Let me try to cover everything. 1. I’ll come back to that later. 2. Yeah I was also very (negatively) surprised to learn that, and not see it mentioned anywhere. Glad I could help you out. 3. Really appreciate the kind words. Feel free to share it 😉 4. I didn’t pick one up yet, as I rarely shoot 110. But I’ll be in Japan in April and I might ask Lomo JP if I can borrow one for a few days (and make a review). Won’t be soon though. 1. Yeah it’s not ideal. My set up is extremely cramped. I’ve got the camera right up against the wall, light above it, and then there is a shelf just above that (and about a foot in front of my head). If I move at all then light hits the shelf and cuts off the top of my head. And if I sit back I’m also away from the table which is really uncomfortable. But it’s a good point, and something I’ll improve when I’m in a different space. Thanks for the comment 🙏🏼
Actually the light box u can use iPad or any monitor with white light source 2. Dslr or mirror less can be done. 3. If macro lens is expensive. Get extension tube with reverse lense mount 4. The film holder a book paint it in black for aesthetic will work 5. Rocket blower or equivalent is a must to clear of dust 6. Tripod is optional but very handy 7. Lightroom or equivalent to reverse the color 8. Enjoy ur roll.
Thank you for the summary!
Fascinating to see the difference. I’m excited to see that Harman brought Phoenix out in 120 and the characteristics are more controlled on the larger format. It would be interesting to see how print outs compare to the different scans too. I suspect once again it depends from lab to lab, not least as most labs seem to print from digital these days. I may have to learn c41 printing to satisfy that part of my curiosity…
Living up to your name! Now I'm curious too...
Beautiful how you can make such ordinary things look amazing!! Gotta love that.
Thanks I try..
I could do this tomorrow. This rules. Thank you!
Looking forward to your update tomorrow!
@ I ordered a negative film strip holder. I debated tacking some negatives in place with push pins but I didn’t want to scratch them. Otherwise, the iPad + box idea awesome. Thank you for using more of your brain than the rest of us!
@@AirBudProMax Oh you're very welcome! Best of luck with the scans
Excellent! Placing an A4 sheet of good quality glossy printing paper onto the screen and under the negative carrier would save you having to hunt around for things to elevate said negative carrier. Just any sheet of paper won’t do, as close up, you’ll get the pattern of the paper when you stop down - similar to when the screen pattern began to show through with the iPad light source. Final tip: Always shoot RAW and use an independent shutter release; many camera models allow an app on the phone to do this.
Good tips all round. Surprised I didn't mention the last 2, because they are indeed crucial! For the paper, I remember having textures on my first DSLR scans many years ago and couldn't work out why... I was shooting a flash into the back of a sheet of paper with the negs on, and it was indeed the fibers of the paper.
Great video. This looks a fun project. Just found a couple on eBay and bought one just for the hell of it! Mind you, as it has to be shipped to me in Greece from the UK, I might have to sell a kidney! :)
Well I hope you enjoy it! (and it's worth the shipping)
Hi! The Pentax Auto has a (automatic) ISO setting of 100 OR 400; how is it possible you get these images with a ISO 200 film?
@@TechnicIsFun I shot them at 100. Always a good idea to overexpose when using an automatic camera anyway, otherwise the sky messes up the exposures.
I feel like the dark slide needs some kind of flag sticking off the side of it telling you what half of the view finder you should be framing in. Maybe temporarily put a sticky note on it with T for top and B for bottom on either side of the note. And if they make some for the Bronica S2, I may have to pick one up.
@@joshuagaude6084 absolutely agree. Just a little bit of yellow tape on the part of the frame you should be exposing for, is a great simple solution I’ll try.
I would 100% have made the same mistake you made on the first roll.
@@Leandro_Montibeler hopefully I’ve saved future people from making the same mistake

@@GraeSkyeStudio thanks. Definitely outdated already though.. might have to make an update
Great photos! I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of this film for being 110! I just might have to pick up a roll of this film. Thanks!
Thanks! I was also very surprised. With a better scanning set-up, it's even possible to scan much higher too.
For anyone who intends to modify an existing darkslide by cutting its blade (the metal part) into half, dont do that. If you want a black line to separate the two panoramas, you have to cut away less than half of the slide. Cutting exactly in the middle will produce two images that are touching. Also do not use scissors, it will bent the metal sheet and make it unusable. Use a saw or scratch multiple times until you go completly trough the material.
@@MezeiEugen great advice. You’ll also have to remove the security mechanism which makes it impossible to take a photo with the darkslide in. Overall, depending on your diy skills, maybe worth pestering someone else to custom make one for you.
On the NLP version did you not use the Noritsu or Frontier selections? I just wonder if it was even close at all to lab versions compared to NLP simulator selections.
It was done with the Frontier preset, and the lab has told me that the NLP preset is far from what a Frontier actually produces.
What a great video. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. IO'll share this on some of our socials:)
@@HARMANPhoto thank YOU for taking the time to watch it! I appreciate very much the shares.
I was young and misinformed regarding the K mount lenses, as _many_ of you have pointed out. There are in fact thousands, across various brands, as well official adapters made by Pentax.
There are thousands of K mount lenses that were made by different companies and other companies that made cameras with the K mount and K mount cameras can easily be adapted to take M42 lenses albeit using stop down metering.
you're right, and I was misinformed at the time. I've added a pinned comment about it.
That is an interesting device. But a 35mm adapter seems less fiddly. And it would work on any MF camera, not just one with a darkslide. 🤔
@@tim31415 for cameras without a darkslide, adapters are definitely a great option (as dedicated 35mm film backs are always extortionate), but I wouldn’t say less fiddly. You always have to unload in the dark, as there is no rewind mechanism on MF cameras. Some cameras use a window in the back to see which frame you’re on, so you would need to seal that (for light leaks) and workout how many turns advanced the right amount of frames. You also get less shots on your roll of 35mm. Meanwhile this is a super cheap add on, which becomes very intuitive after a few shots. Neither option is perfect, but it’s great to see this option exists for those who want to try it.
This is really cool!
@@marcargentique nice to see you here man, thanks for coming!
@ any time! Its nice to see all the beautiful places you visit
Great Video!!
@@photopryntz appreciate very much!
Lovely results. I feel like there must be a way to modify a 220 film back so that it only advances half a frame and then this whole process can be automated. Maybe by changing a gear ratio.
@@wheatthicks for a solid 60 panoramas on a roll. Not sure I’d be able to finish that… haha.
@ lol fair. I should’ve been more clear. I meant that because the 220 roll back expects to take twice as many frames, if it were modified to only advance half as far with a roll of 120, it would automatically advance through a full 120 roll of half shots for you. I’m sure there are other technical challenges that are over my head though.
Haha. As soon as you started showing your mistakes I realised what you'd done wrong. The thing is, I would have probably made the exact same mistake.
@@StevePorter_au 🫱🏻🫲🏼 hopefully those inspired to try this, will be saved the trouble.
This is quite neat, always loved doing in camera tricks like this. I wonder if fun shapes can be cut into dark slides with matching negative space ones to compliment 🤔. Cheers and keep up the fun 🎉
@@patrickrostker6693 thanks! I guess a wave, à la yin-yang, would work as turning it upside down would fill the negative space 🤔
On Rolleicord Va and Vb existed a masking + advancing gears kit that allowed to cut in half a standard 6x6 frame to take 24 shot on a single roll on 120. It was called the 24 exposure kit and have the advantages of offering actual mask to frame properly and the appropriate gearing to advance the frame properly. It ends up with 55x24 images, which is easier to use imho. I have one and it's a joy to use.
I recently did it too! I knew I shouldn‘t be alone!
@@housemusic325 what a great accessory. I just looked it up, and not only are they going for reasonable prices, but it comes in a very cute little carry case! Thanks for the information.
Very cool!
@@camerafusion thanks !
I’m surprised the Bronica lets you shoot with the dark slide in. None of my MF cameras will allow that.
On bronicas that feature is governed by a pin on the handle of the dark slide, if that pin isn't present the camera doesn't know there's a dark slide in.
@@TheIsaacshepherd indeed. And in fact I just realised a mistake I made. I had filmed me doing an explanation of that pin on normal dark slides, and how this half slide was made without one. But as the video was getting long I decided to remove that section as I didn’t expect anyone to care… Guess I was wrong 😞
@@TheIsaacshepherd Mystery solved. Thank you.
Those came out great! I once shot half a roll of 35mm 800t, shelved it for 18 months or so then shot the last half. I guess 800t doesn’t like sitting around because it came out super underexposed and “dirty” (mysterious ring-like things and grainy). Or perhaps it was just a wonky roll to start.
Thanks! Yeah I don't know why it degrades so fast, but definitely overexpose it like crazy if it's old and badly stored.
That is genius
@@RoNin-ks8pu yeah super interesting find
cool, didn't know this existed. Now I need a medium format camera with darkslides. Couldn't you shoot the whole film and then change the spools and turn it 180 degrees around and shoot again the whole film?
Thanks @@Elimnio ! You could definitely use that workflow, and it could be nice for shared doubles exposures or diptychs with multiple locations. But: - as the line between them is solid, the “double exposure” effect is maybe not interesting enough to warrant that kind of project. - rerolling 120 is annoying. So I think it’s better used as a way of just extending your roll to more shots. But photography is all about experimenting, so just have fun and don’t listen to me!!
Great video!
ありがと〜
I need exactly this! While I have the 135w back on the ETRS, medium format film is cheaper in my area than 35mm and that one only makes 20+ 24x54mm panos
@@adrianemikko then you should get exactly this! Thanks for watching!
Nice! I like your results. I do something similar with my Seagull tlr, i can do 6x20, 6x30 and 6x4.5.
Oh interesting. How are you doing it without a detachable back? Masks inside I guess, and just knowing exactly the right amount to turn the knob for each size? Thanks, glad you like them! 😊
@@NorbiWhitney Yes there are masks that i use, knowing the amount of turns is doable, because the seller of those masks made a sticker, you place next to the advancing wheel, that has indications for each format, for where to start and stop turning. For 6x4.5 i can just use the red window on the back.

Hi do you how to reload it . There is no documentation to do it or not for this particular ( year) vintage Fujifilm camera . Did you remove the film by yourself ?
@@normand123456 hi Normand. So all disposable cameras are meant to be used only once and then thrown away. There’s no easy way to reload them. Some companies like Ilford and Lomography are doing “reloadable disposables” which are basically just the absolute simplest plastic cameras but easy to reload. I’ve personally never unloaded the film myself, but it seems simple enough with a bit of force. Normally you’ll give the whole camera to the lab.
