The 10 Best Britpop Albums - เพลง
Blur by Blur is NOT a britpop album. Their Life trilogy, was their Britpop manifestation.
true fact. one of many innacuracies.
It was a transition record. I agree with the decision of putting it in the list.
It is an awesome album though
Not britpop. And not Even good
@@steinarmogen3166 yes is an amazing record with many atmospheres.
I had hopes clicking on this video that I'd find some cool new Britpop albums because I only know like 5 Britpop bands. Turns out so does Pitchfork.
TurkeyProphet Well I'm not defending them, but I think you should check out their list of Best 50 Britpop albums of all time.
What about Enter the Wu tang : The 36 chambers?
Drew yeah where was it?
WillApted33 They are the most influential Brit pop group. Maybe better than God

👍
Why is Radiohead here, they aren't even considered a britpop band, they were never apart of the britpop movement.
Mr xo They're not now, but they were very much a part of it at the time.
No they weren't! Radiohead were always a party of nothing!
all britpop bands claim the same.
honestly pablo honey and the bends might as well be considered britpop, no matter what the band says
@@clevername15 pablo honey wasn't britpop, more grunge and alt-rock, the bends is quite britpoppy but still radiohead
I think modern life is rubbish should be in this list, it's one of the most important britpop albums. Very underrated
'The Bends' is not a Britpop album. In fact, at the time, it was considered the antidote to Britpop. Blur's self-titled album was considered a departure from Britpop, so I don't know why that's here. Lush's "Lovelife" should've been on the list. But, a good choice for #1.
Lush is shoegaze. If they put Lush in they will also have to include Ride but they are also shoegaze. Check their Best shoegaze albums where they do include Lush
Yep, it felt kinda insulting and appropriately "Pitchfork-y" to put a Radiohead album ahead of Oasis, the only real reason seeming to be to spite Oasis since obviously Radiohead aren't Britpop and never were.
Lush was one of the original shoegaze bands. But, they moved on from that classification once they parted ways with Robin Guthrie after 'Spooky' and made the more straightforward rock album 'Split' After that, they successfully transitioned into the sound of the day: Britpop, with their undisputed Britpop album "Lovelife". An album that I think is one of the best of the era.
nfalls75 Radiohead is britpop- don't let the hipsters fool you
Sudev Sen Actually, they're Nu Metal...hehe
This list is flawed.
Not Radiohead (100% not Britpop)
Not Blur self-titled (post-Britpop)
Not Pulp This Is Hardcore (Different Class defined Britpop)
The 10 Best Britpop Albums (in no order)
Elastica - Elastica
Supergrass - I Should Coco
The Charlatans - The Charlatans
Sleeper - The It Girl
The Bluetones - Expecting To Fly
Shed Seven - A Maximum High
Suede - Suede or Dog Man Star
Pulp - Different Class
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish
Maximum high defiantly deserves to be there
This guy gets it. 👍
I’m a Man is one of the best most bripopy song i’ve heard, and it is on This is Hardcore.
Dude you are way better than Pitchfork!
this is hardcore is definitely britpop and it's brilliant too.
How about Supergrass I Should Coco? It is quintessential britpop
It was number 11
why is definitely maybe only 9?
cuz pitchfork is american and they don´t know shit
Its Britpop not best ever albums
As well they don't mention top 10... think about it before hating..
xAthene i dont think you could have said anything more incorrect
I'd replace The Bends with Modern Life is Rubbish o
Mig1997 The bends isn't even a britpop album lol
I am aware. That's why I said I'd swap it with an actual Britpop album lol
I would replace The Bends with Suede´s debut album
1. Definitely Maybe
2. Different Class
3. Suede
4. (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
5. Parklife
Blur's self titled LP and The Bends shouldn't be here
Definitely maybe is more rock and élément of shoegaze
no manics???
I wouldnt say they were britpop
The Great Escape should be in this list, at least a top 5. Great album, sadly underrated. Number 1 choice is excellent tho!
Yes
Way better than the st
Yes that’s my favorite album Ever
blur (1997) is not a britpop album
haha as if morning glory is better than definitely maybe - and modern life is rubbish is where the idea of Britpop came from..
Morning glory is better
Suede-Suede is obviously the best
Definitely Maybe too low
Its definitely to low! Theres no maybe about it!!
Definitely Maybe > (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
Seventeen Seconds Definitely Maybe = (What’s the Story) Morning Glory > any other album ever
Definitely Maybe for life.
Blur's s/t and Definitely Maybe should've both been in the top 3
Hopefully soon, Pitchfork will realize that we can actually read
Definitely Maybe is 9th? Please tell me this isn’t in order:
>the bends
>Brit-Pop
p4k more like Pleb4k
Shed Seven are criminally underrated man...
at least the got the top two right generally but anyone who lived through the scene cant possibly agree with the rest of this list, whether it be about placement, inclusion, or exclusion.
WHERE IS SUPERGRASS ?
They were the best, all of their albums are great !
1. Blur Parklife 2. Oasis Whats the Story…. 3. Echobelly On 4. Super Furry Animals Radiator 5. My Life Story The Golden Mile 6. Supernaturals It Doesnt Matter Anymore 8 Supergrass In It For the Money 9 Suede Coming Up 10 Thurnam Lux. 10 clqssics by 10 different great bands
britpop is a special movement that collects uk bands of that era almost regardless of genre.
Many wonderful bands lost their way as the movement ended.
It was around oasis blur supergrass that survived commercially...
my top 10 britpop albums here.
1. parklife / blur
2. i should coco / supergrass
3. expecting to fry / the bluetones
4. england made me / black box recorder
5. elastica / elastica
6. when i was a born for the 7th time / cornershop
7. only forever / puressence
8. new wave / the auteures
9. (what's the story) morning glory ? / oasis
10. his n hers / pulp
Not a bad list, actually. And I'm very glad you included Suede.
My Dad just listens to the same Toby Kieth cd on repeat for the past 10 years.
Morning Glory by Oasis is my favourite.
Where's Mansun? Embrace? Ocean Colour Scene? Shed 7? Northern Uproar? Dodgy? Better be in the full list!
I personally prefer most of the earlier britpop albums that experimented with a Shoegaze style. Giant Steps by the Boo Radleys and Against Perfection by Adorable are good examples of this trasisionary period between the two styles.
Both Blur selftitled and This Is Hardcore are more post-Britpop like OKC
How is What’s the story (Morning Glory) not #1!?!?!
Elastica instead of OCS, Supergrass or Be here now?
Good to see His Last Sticker on the list
No Different Cla... Oh, number one, of course.
A detached American voice tries to tell me about a scene in the UK that I was in the middle of and gets it horrible wrong. The Bends is not Britpop, neither is "Blur". One of the most important albums of it's time as it really signposted what Britpop is about is "Modern Life is Rubbish". No Supergrass? Stick to grunge Pitchfork.
In no particular order. Except the 1st being my personal number 1 pick.
Pulp Different Class.
Oasis. Morning Glory.
Blur Parklife.
Suede Coming Up.
Verve Urban Hymns.
Supergrass I Should Coco
Dodgy Free Peace Sweet.
Manic Street Preachers. Everything Must Go.
Sleeper The It Girl
Lightning Seeds Jollification
Ocean Colour Scene Moseley Shoals.
Honourable mention to Reef singing Place your hands or as anyone who was getting ready to go out drinking on a friday night in the UK in the 90s knows it as Its Your Letters.
putting parklife #2 makes pitchfork completely incredible. can't watch see anything from them anymore
Different Class is a good choice for #1, though I prefer This Is Hardcore. Dog man Star is my #1, and Suede' s self titled debut should make the top ten. I might also add Up To Our Hips by the Charlatans.
Definitely maybe should definitely be first.
Sin ver el video completo creo que Pulp deberia estar en primer lugar, con el album del 95' (No recuerdo el nombre del album en estos momentos)
Esteban Garcia si lo está, pero creo que con radiohead se equivocaron, además que the verve debió estar más arriba
How about stone roses?
What about Suede's debut album?
But... what about stone roses??
Where is I Should Coco, ah?
For a Pitchfork list, this is quite a good one, actually. Kenickie, Gene, Hefner, "Sci-Fi Lullabies", "Dog Man Star" at number 5 (should be number 1 or 2, though).
What’s the song at 0:12?
To the end by Blur
okay hold on i wanted a blur album obviously but the self titled isn’t brit pop
smh. Definitely Maybe is far and away the #1 britpop release.
Ikr
only got one thing right and that's the number one spot
How is song 2 a send up of grunge?
Blur apparently made that song in 20 minutes as a joke and as a diss to alternative grungy music from the US.
Eveything Must Go by Manics deserves to be in top 5
and on that bombshell...
Wheres To Pimp A Butterfly?
What does this guy have against oasis
100% correct on the #1
A handful of publications consider The Bends to be in the Britpop genre. I personally don't agree but whatever.
Wait, Radiohead isn’t Britpop
Parklife #1
For me you have made this top on the countrary
Where is Travis and ocean colour scene?
This list is backwards.
gene, the la's, echo belly. For me, any album after 1996 shouldn't be considered. Radiohead, and Blur Blur are not quintessential britpop sounding albums..
"Urban Hymns" is post-Britpop.
1-definitely maybe
2-(what's the story)
3-be here now
In my opinion The Bends and Blur album aren't brit pop.
90s British Indie Rock 🇬🇧🎸
What about Coming Up
Sleeper - Smart
Definitely Maybe from Oasis was the epitome of britpop and it should be number 1, period.
No
No
I'm just a fellow American. But I'm pretty sure Radiohead isn't Britpop, even if The Bends happened to be popular during the height of it.
Good list different class and park life are fucking amazing
Stone Roses anyone ?
Great band! I wouldn't call them Britpop though..
Anal Staircase yea that's technically "Madcaster" or whatever they call it
Haha Madchester but yeah I guess
They're Baggy/Madchester/Rave, not Britpop.
i hope the list isn't in order as putting definitely maybe 9th is criminal
Errr. Gene...Mansun (to name just two!) ???
If the bends is britpop which it isn’t it should be number 1
Do best Aussie albums
Scott Riley men at work - business as usual
INXS - Kicks
Since I left you
Vision Valley by The Vines
The Divinyls by the Divinyls
I'm Stranded by The Saints
Radios Appear by Radio Birdman
oh well nice
i don't believe i watched this list
coming up number 1\
]
DAMN!!!! PULp is better than bluR?
No Supergrass or Sleeper? How odd
Should've put The Stone Roses debut and Supergrass's In It For The Money instead of a second album from Oasis and Blur
Your forgetting 21 Savage
a dog man's star is amazing
The Verve merecía un mejor puesto
Definitely Maybe is the best debut album of all time, certainly the best britpop album of all time, not 9th smh
Why isn't is this it on here
no Charletans? no EMF? WTF??!
Morning glory should have been 1 and definitely maybe 2
Pretty good list....but where are the Stone Roses? c'mon
Blur beat oasis
Lil pump got a 7 though
For me, in no particular order:
Modern Life is Rubbish
Parklife
The Great Escape
Definitely Maybe
Morning Glory
Be Here Now
I Should Coco
Different Class
Urban Hymns
Moseley Shoals
Honourable mentions: Homegrown, Free Peace Sweet, Expecting to Fly, Jollification, Everything Must Go, Tellin’ Stories, In it for the Money etc etc
It was a great time for music.
How the fuck is blur self titled on this
This Is Hard Core and anything post 1997 isn't really Britpop - Coming up is more of a Britipop album for Suade
Definitely Maybe/WTSMG > Every other album on this list...Also, where's I Should Coco by Supergrass?

Only Town
