Hey, guys. We need to make a correction. In the video we incorrectly swapped the lables for the tow figures. It's the Extended Range battery that tows up to 10,000 lbs not the Standard Range battery. Sorry to create confusion.
EVs are cute, but are they really practical for everyone? 40 million Americans rent, most live in homes converted into multi units… no garages, and parking is on the street. GM CEO Mary Barra says it will be easy owning an EV, everyone will be able to charge while they sleep… Really? So out of touch with how many Americans are living.
@@derekk6906 I think most pro-EV people would agree. Infrastructure needs major improvement and development which will come but not for a good 5-10+ years depending on the location.

congrats Micah on getting the first review! I've been waiting for this! Looks like Ford has hit a homerun here based on your review. Looks like a complete package. Should be a fun competition now in the EV truck segment.
This is quite exciting! I think charging with this has a few real, but overcome-able hurdles, I know of a set of chargers close to my home that are pull through chargers that would work with a trailer as they have a more traditional gas station layout. I can't comment on how common that is, but I see it getting better in the future. As for charge time, while it's certainly something you'd like to see improve more, I think it's one of those disadvantages people quote as a showstopper, but really in practice is something you can get used to easily.
The $40K starting price tag is for the Pro version, which comes with rubber floors and cheap vinyl seats, etc. And you can only get the base battery in this trim. The XLT trim starts at $52K and will give you cloth seats and the ability to upgrade to the larger battery. So, that's $12K for cloth seats....and a larger battery for another $20K...for a total of $72K!! It's ridiculous! At $72K, the Rivian R1T is less money and has better design and range. And working your way up to Platinum trim, which offers leather, the larger center screen, and the larger battery is over $90K!! It blows my mind that people have pre-ordered all trims for the entire 2022 production cycle, especially considering they're charging over $50K for leather, a larger screen, and a bigger battery for the top Platinum trim. It's literally not worth the money!! I drive a full-size truck, and I'd love to get into an EV, so I get it. Everyone's excited about an EV pickup, including me. But Ford has lost their minds with the prices. Unfortunately, Tesla seems to have fallen off the map with the Cyber Truck, and everyone else is lagging WAY behind with regard to producing anything competitive. Maybe that'll change once more competitors for this segment get into the market. For now, I'm gonna have to pass on the Lightning. I like what they've done with it, but the prices are just too ridiculous to seriously contemplate.
This truck is a game changer. I'm not a truck guy and would pick this up except for probable massive price markups. Once this becomes readily available, could be a viable option. This thing will sell like hotcakes
I feel like this is going to be the real turning point for EVs in America. The F-150 is the most popular vehicle in the country and there is a huge market for pickups. Interesting article in the Detroit News today. The battery depletion and need for replacement on EVs will destroy any resale value, compared to ICE vehicles. Just something to think about.
Having a hard time imagining how you would charge your truck/trailer on a road trip. Most charging stations are not set up for vehicle/trailer combos. Would you have to drop your trailer in the parking lot somewhere, charge, then go back and re-hitch?
This ford is not yet good enough for towing .. as the 150 KW charging will take more than 1 hour to charge.. and yes charging network needs work too .. may be a extension cord 🤷♂️
Well the charging stations I go to I have to back up on the EV6, but considering the port is on the front you would just pull in. Just leave your massive whatever your towing sticking out I guess?? There needs to be pull through stations like in Europe.

In 2017 I purchased a 2016 F-150 with 21,000 miles on it for $31,000. In 2021 I traded it in with 81,000 miles on it and the dealership gave me $25,000 for it…not bad. How will the F-150 lighting ever maintain any value if batteries deplete and must be replaced for a ridiculous cost to owners? Doesn’t that destroy any resale value for EV vehicles?
If the battery is still good but has 25-30% loss of original range, do the manufactures just replace it because it is 8-10 years old? EVs will be great for some, a hassle for many others. I have time anxiety, enjoy to many road trips to deal with chasing charging stations.
Not the first buyer's problem, but how much for the battery replacement? And will the 2nd or 3rd owner replace the battery for like 20K? Is it just a few tons of e-waste after the battery eventually dies..

I wonder how many years it will take for them to stop calling them lighting because electric cars are normal.
Ford had Lightnings before they were EV.
That infotainment screen is insanely long! I hate this style that Ford is using on many of their SUVs and trucks! Oh well,
Takes it "off road" on a dirt track that is in better shape than the pot hole ridden streets where I live.
I guess the truck is cute but I still rather have a V8! And no, before you ask I'm not a baby boomer! 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah. Stay alive Micah! 😂
RIP cyber truck
Imagine an actual EV mustang Mach E (non suv)... Ford really missed an opportunity on that.
👍
I don’t like the rims
Nice truck but that towing range…
I have a 1999 dodge durango 5.9 360 it gets on its best day 100l tank 400km when towing my travel trailer it will get half of that if I'm lucky so don't really see the problem
This looks fantastic, but a little too big for me. Give me a Maverick EV.
not gonna happen soon. hybrid sold out and gets 40 plus mpg already. Not in the near future, it will be reserved for the bigger vehicles and then the Ranger Bronco platform.
Just A modified Ford F-150 with a battery. Basic! ;-(
Lots of lithium mining just to make 1 EV battery
The mark up for the extended battery for $10k additional is so Ford it's disgusting and unfortunate killer. The standard 230 range is not worth it. Huge missed opportunity by Ford to take some market share from Tesla 🤦🤦🤦🤦
What the hell are you talking about? Its sold out for 3 YEARS. What car has ever done that?
you have very little tesla review, a true tesla hater channel? 😛
ohh yea more money in my pocket installing charging stations, dead simple and no time at all.
99% of the people buying these 90 thousand dollar trucks.... can't afford them. It's gona get ugly
hahahahaha, drove
Ford has built-quality issues lately must see it in person
Honestly, which truck doesn't have built quality issues? And don't say Toyota, I work on them for a living.
I hate electric cars.
No thanks like all EV's it will lose range every year as the battery degrades and what are the costs to replace the entire battery pack when it drops to low to be usable? I know for Tesla it is between 15 and 21k after the battery pack is end of life. Depending on your climate that could be in 10 years time. No Thank you.
If you knew the basics, I mean basics, all the manufacturers warranty their batteries for at least 8-10 years.
@@02hreblue30 but even under the best times they have to decide to honor the warranty and view the range lost as significant enough to warrant a replacement. If they do not honor the warranty then year 11 hits you are out of warranty under the best of circumstances and again you are out 15 to 21k to replace the batteries.
More eletric trash I will never purchase. These companies better think again of charging $20,000-$35.000 for a battery like Tesla.
Looks like a 20 yr old aged and haggard truck from the 20th century before it even launches 😑
