- Day 2 of my solo ride of the Smokey Mountains 500. Hammock camped at 2 Wheels of Suches in north Georgia. Next day rode the red section to near Robbinsville, NC. The red section has a little more paved riding than the blue section, but the off pavement riding is a little more challenging. There were 4-5 creek crossings, but only 2 of those were significant. I had ridden the last 2 dirt sections of this route a couple of weeks previously (see my Murphy NC video). Being only a couple of hours from home, I chose to ride around the Great Smokies National Park to home. I haven't gone back to finish the last section, from Robbinsville, NC, to Tellico Plains, TN, but I hope to do that soon, with a riding companion, since I expect it to be a bit more challenging, especially Witt Rd. Thanks for riding along!
Super video...you have some awesome places to ride! And the Scrambler is doing you proud 👏. Cheers, Steve
4:34 Love the "to all my hiking friends" comment.
I am new to adventure riding and looking to do the smoke 500. But in 2019 I hiked the entire Appalachian Trail. So I will see both sides now. 😮
That's an amazing accomplishment! Congrats! Good luck on the SM500. I'm going to carve out a weekend before the summer is over to either do the 500 again or the Georgia Traverse.
Did you use the gpx file for the route? What app are you using for it?
When we went through that fist Creek crossing in July, it was a bit over 2' deep. The one before Charlie's Creek was at least 3' deep. My video will be out soon.. just lazy with editing.
Yeah, it had been dry so I lucked out! I'll try to checkout your video just to see the difference.
Charlie's Creek rd at 9:23 was epic in the spring. Right Bacon? LOL. Bike swallowing ruts and deep water. Most challenging part of the trail. Now it's just meh.
Yeah, they dressed a lot which took care of the ruts and it's been so dry the creek crossings were pretty easy. I would've hate to seen it flowing well!
Also id love to join you on one of your trips
