  • In August 2021, Brutus, my '19 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE, and I rode the Smokey Mountains 500, and almost 500 mile loop that runs in 3 sections between Tellico Plains, TN, Suches, GA, and Robbinsville, NC. I ran the 500 counter clockwise starting in Tellico Plains and spending the night at Two Wheels of Suches motorcycle campground. First day out, it was a great day on 2 wheels. Thanks for checking out my video!

    Very cool. Great riding. Helped me scout some waypoints too.

      Glad it helped you, even a little. Lots of folks take 4 days to do this ride so they can explore each section more thoroughly. I've done a section/day only. Gives me a reason to go back!

    Good to see someone scrambling on their scrambler. Some incredible countryside right there.

      We're planning to go back in a few weeks, run it clockwise this time.

      @@RoadRash1 I'm taking mine on a 3 wk adv upto Cape York, which is the Northern most tip of Australia in May.
      Plenty of dirt roads up there to explore.

      We need to take another run at Cataloochie. Maybe we can make it without running into a frog strangling rain.

    Nice video! I was on my way of doing it until a minor spill turned into a fractured tibia. Attempt #2 this spring!

      Dude, that's awful. It happened on the 500 or on your way there? Either way...sucks. Glad you are going to heal up and try it again. I've done it twice now, once in both directions. Enjoyed it a bunch both times. I'm going to try to do the SM 1000 (or at least the northern leg of it) next year. Good luck!

      thank you. It was the first day going from Suches ccw. Rounded the corner at Helton Creek and didn't know that was where the parking area was. Tourist standing in the middle of the road. Unfortunately I was riding the outer edge and on marble rocks. I grabbed too much rear brake and tried to compensate by grabbing front. Sad thing is that it was literally a slow motion drop. No damage to the bike, just to my knee. Ride safe!

    9:01 "This is not it." I said the exact same thing the first time I went through there. After missing the turn off the 4 lane just prior as well... :D

      LOL. Pretty sure a lot of people feel the same. I didn't that I was supposed to be there.

    The bike reverting back to road when you switch off is a pain. The bike will stay in the customisable "Rider" mode when you turn the bike off and on again. If you use the same settings as the off road mode you can use this for your off trails and not have to keep changing the mode when you stop.

    • @Road_Rash1
      @Road_Rash1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, Stan. I hadn't thought about the customizable mode! I'm going to try that....as soon as I fix my thumbstick that broke off on my Goat Trail ride after a drop in some rocks. I've tried some self-fixes, none have which worked well. Gotta replace the entire control collar. Working on that now!

      @@Road_Rash1 I hope that's not too expensive! My left hand switch gear wasn't working yesterday, I switched it off and on again and now it seems fine!

    Good stuff. I've done the SM500 twice - once on Honda Trail 125, then on RE Himalayan. Check my channel for the Great Continental Divide Route videos - my buddy Steve was on a Scrambler 1200 XE you might dig those videos, it was an epic trip
