It was recorded with broadcast quality analog videotape. What has been posted on TH-cam is a digitized rip and is highly compressed, as required. There are visible compression artifacts, but it looks very good because there are a lot of dark and monochromatic frames, without a lot of motion. If it were brightly lit, with lots of different colors and fast motion, there'd be more artifacts and lower perceived quality.
I was there, I never thought i'd see a clip of this, I believe they were supporting Inner City, which I guess is why most people were there. If only I knew then what I know now!

This sounds and looks great (Betamax - the superior tape recorder that never took off...) Trying to figure out the synths and stuff... Looks like the far two are a Korg Poly-800 and a Roland Juno of some kind. The drum machine in front of Derrick I think is a Korg DDD-1. I know this also had TR-808 in it? The top one Derrick is playing might be a Korg DSS-1 sampler? The new age of digital synths were upon us...
