Back in the 90's, I bought a used Roland D-50 for my son to play on. The sounds on that synth blew me away, especially after listening to other synths. It was so unique I figured there had to be one person responsible. I decided to do some research and find out who at Roland did it. After a couple weeks of searching, I found it was a guy named Eric Persing, I remembered the name but didn't hear it again till a couple years ago.. Now he heads up Spectrasonics and has this Keyscape product. Because of these Keyscape videos there's a few more names I wont forget: Greg Phillinganes, Cory Henry and Shaun Martin.
Wurli yea, sorry for being 3 weeks late 😅 if you check in the description too you’ll see that they talk about what keyboard they use. Yea I was trying to find out what keyboard it was too lol

One of the best keyboard players of ALL time and one of my favorites! With Greg's knowledge, he should be teaching and publishing his keyboard parts for all the keyboard plays to study and learn. He is also a very humble and funny individual. Thanks, Greg and Keyscape!
Well, they say the best songs have all been written, and Greg must have played on them all. A master of his trade, awesome amazing and just plain down to earth. The late great George Duke surely had to be laughing and smiling at this one.

He is sooo funny come on..the man can play anything as he did on many of the recordings. What a great time the engeneers of Keyscape must have had with him trying out their sounds!! No better ambassador for the firm for sure!!!
Two years on and that Rhodes Bass kicks me in the chest the exact same way. Keyscape is still one of the best instruments I own, thanks so much for making it.

What a Tremendous Performer !!! I can´t believe how natural is for you playing that way !! That´s why you´ve worked with so many talented musicians like you !!! I believe, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and many Others !!! Greg you are simply the best !!! Greetings from Argentina !!! and the Software is also Incredible thow it Emulates so many greats Keyboards of all times and of which I had the luck to enjoy !!! Im 54 Years Old !!! God Bless you Greg Philinganes !!!
My girlfriend some years ago played violin in the S. Florida opera. She was of course a great player. She apologized countless times for practicing for hours until I managed to persuade her it was a treat for me to hear her mind at work. Finally she made a point of doing all that heavy lifting at my house prior to a performance. Nothing could make me happier. I miss that about her terribly. What happiness to hear a great musician explore for their self.
What a wonderful thing it is to listen to this video..I like so many of us, was around when ALL of these tunes were standard radio hit's of the day..listening again bring's back so many nice memories of my youth..What's so sad is that nothing like this is anywhere to be found in today's music..tragic how the substance of pop music has pretty much vanished and or been so watered down..Thank you Greg..you made me remember how important to me that time in music was..
I first saw this with Riqué Pantoja and I was blown away. And now with Greg... wow!! My two favorite keyboard players jamming on Keyscape!! Spectrasonics rules!!
It's Novermber 2020 and this video is exactly what I needed. Greg is off the hook talented, an actual encyclopedia of the best keyboard parts of all time. Insane!!!!!
I am so impressed with this I have to post again. As a fan of Stevie Wonder I have always been familiar with Greg's work. As a church pianist I can play many hymns by ear - they are not hard if u r familiar with the number system though I try to jazz them up a bit to make them sound more interesting. However replicating these complex sounds through chords is another matter. Greg - u da man. This has to be a God given gift.
Well put!!! I CONCUR!! I just started to learn to play the piano THIS YEAR (April 3rd, 2018) at the age of 49. It was something I always wanted to do. I guess better late than never.
It’s 2024 - time for the annual checkup. Test results - video not only stands the test of time but like superb wine just keeps getting better. Each time I watch it seems Eric laughs even harder at Greg’s jokes. Greg, Michael maybe king of pop but you got king of keyboards even with both your hands tied behind Eric’s back….
Greg is a brother to me, music is so important in my life !!! For decades I flip my LPs and Greg was listed !!! With Spectrasonics software all the legendary instruments are in your box, it's truly amazing !!! great Rhodes sound, wurlitzer, Roland, etc ... all in one !!!!

This is one of those videos that should be archived so that future humans, interstellar beings alike can revel over the artistic genius and virtuosity of mankind and what an exemplary demonstration than Greg. I myself contributed atleast 100 views to this video and I think I won’t ever get bored of this
Spectacular Greg!!! Best artist!
I think you just sold me on Keyscape!
Hi, can you tell me witch model of keyboard is on this video please ? Thank you.
Wurli Greg was using a Roland A-88 Key Keyboard and is somewhere around $750 I think
@@onionhat9141 great, thank you for answer me. It's been a long time i asked myself about that. 🙏
Wurli yea, sorry for being 3 weeks late 😅 if you check in the description too you’ll see that they talk about what keyboard they use. Yea I was trying to find out what keyboard it was too lol
#TheMan #TheLegend ...the perfect session & live player for almost any genre you can think of. Still studying him. He's giving a straight up clinic. 🎹 👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾
Byron Stanfield Couldn't agree more. Legend!
Loved how he dives into each song (and the feelings of each artist) of the 80s without sinking! Legend. Love.
That my friend, sums up our crazy, funky, happy, glorious days of youth. Colorful music that shaped our days 💞🎉🇲🇨😃 thank you....Greg Phillinganes is an absolute music genius, a treasure for this Earth
I think Greg needs to do a tour of just HIM, playing the hits, like this! I would go!
One of the best keyboard players of ALL time and one of my favorites!
With Greg's knowledge, he should be teaching and publishing his keyboard parts for all
the keyboard plays to study and learn.
I wish this was longer! He is just amazing
Ha! The original version was 25 minutes long! :-)
You could post that. I'll tell you I'd watch it. This stuff makes me want to learn piano. I can't imagine better marketing. This is like the musical equivalent of having Tom Brady win the Super Bowl wearing your cleats.
agreed. I already own Keyscape,
but I relish sitting down to watch these presentations.
Greg makes my day so much better.
How do you like it? As satisfying as it seems?
25 minutes long, COME ON! The people want more looool
Greg is my favorite keyboardist. He’s the Goat!!
He is sooo funny come on..the man can play anything as he did on many of the recordings. What a great time the engeneers of Keyscape must have had with him trying out their sounds!! No better ambassador for the firm for sure!!!
That steely Dan sound is so sweet. No one sounded like that.
I could watch Greg play my favorite songs all day!
We can't get enough of this!
I've watched it at least 50 times!
H McGuire me too
Don't stop till you get enough
Two years on and that Rhodes Bass kicks me in the chest the exact same way. Keyscape is still one of the best instruments I own, thanks so much for making it.
Those are all totally authentic sounds. Wish I had the spare money because I would buy that in a heartbeat. Greg Phillanganes is a total legend!
I had no idea Greg played keyboards on Contusion! That keyboard solo is amazing! True legend!!!
DuhAverageJoe read the liner notes.
Man, that's ENTERTAINMENT!!! Greg - not just an absolut hilarious guy and one of the best performers in the industry, he is a great impersonator too! The Michael McDonald phrase - SLICK & SMOOTH! And KEYSCAPE sounds perfect at the point!!! Thumbs up!
How can anybody give this performance a thumbs down!! Awesome entertainer and musician. Thanks Greg
Ive been watching this video at least once a month for 2 years now and still can't get over the sound and realism
Please bring him back on as a guest
Best video and demo you have ever done
Best regards, Rick
same🎉!
He is so talented and charismatic! I guess I would spent one hour watching him if the video was that long. Congratulations, Mr. Phillinganes!
So here I am again. Can't get enough of this amazing man. Players like Greg are in the background of so many artist. So great to be able to see more of them out front.
Theres another vid of him on the channel uploaded 6 months ago
Why am I still smiling?...the joy of music and Mr.Phillinganes💯
What a Tremendous Performer !!! I can´t believe how natural is for you playing that way !! That´s why you´ve worked with so many talented musicians like you !!! I believe, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and many Others !!! Greg you are simply the best !!! Greetings from Argentina !!! and the Software is also Incredible thow it Emulates so many greats Keyboards of all times and of which I had the luck to enjoy !!! Im 54 Years Old !!! Thanks Again I allways hear this video very Often , but this is the first time that I decided to write a comment ... Sorry if my english is not too good.. I´m from Argentina !!!
If you think that you don't know Greg Philingaines then think again. He's played on almost every one of your favorite songs!
😂 The vocal impressions are hilarious. Greg's so underrated - especially his solo albums.
I first saw this with Riqué Pantoja and I was blown away. And now with Greg... wow!! My two favorite keyboard players jamming on Keyscape!!
Spectrasonics rules!!
Oh I am here again.... this is so awesome, thanks!!!!
Welcome back!😊
It's Novermber 2020 and this video is exactly what I needed.
I wish I had seen a video like this when I was 5, I wouldn't have wasted several years wondering what I wanted to do with my life!
djGreenALERT start now!
Well put!!! I CONCUR!! I just started to learn to play the piano THIS YEAR (April 3rd, 2018) at the age of 49. It was something I always wanted to do. I guess better late than never.
@@darkhalo0868 So I'm not the only 49 y.o who started at the same time, with the same goal. I'm with you brother!
Im 22 and feel like i waited to long lol been playing 2 years now
Great goals but you also need the talent that this dude has, and that might be 1 in a billion.
Greg P. One the baddest studio cats around! 😊🙏🏾🙌🏾
This man leaves such a mark on music... One of the best around. And a very nice guy too
His rhythm playing is impeccable, that’s what separates him from the myriad of your everyday key bangers, such as myself. He’s off-the-chart good.
One of the greatest musicians ever, he got some session stories for you, much respect to this brother
Easily the best demo of Keyscape ☺️ Good job team Spectrasonics and Greg Philliganes 👏👏
What an incredible musician. Musical genius. parody comedian. inspirational.
