I love how the locks will natually tangle and combine. I use to twist my locks every two to three weeks and over about 10 years of doing that.. I noticed some thinning and breakage.. so I started to only twist about once or twice every 2 to 3 months.. WHAT a DIFFERENCE.. thicker locks and some have combined.. which gives me a variety of lock shapes and sizes. I like the organic look and the neat look and being able to change that look when I want to. Enjoy your vids. Take Care Blessings.
Damian I think it is too nice of you to allow the "look and learn" I just hope anyone who takes advantage of this opportunity makes sure to give credit where credit is due... U ARE AMAZING AT WHAT YOU DO!! too many people (regardless of race) will take and take our kindness as a weakness I hope you are able to create your own dread lock product line and or anything else you dream of God bless u :D
16:45 I purchase distilled water for my spritz of water and essential oils (tea tree, lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary...just a few drops of your choosing with a carrier oil like evoo or grapeseed). I sometimes also use aloe vera juice which has healing properties and a good pH for the hair, since the water I have in my area is pretty hard. If you want to get cashy you can also purchase a water filter for your shower head to limit the damage to your hair from hard water.
I use tea tree, lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary for the scalp only, and not daily. For a spritz for the hair, I use straight distilled water or distilled water mixed one or a combination of the following:aloe juice, aloe gel, rosewater, a carrier oil, or a conditioner
15:35 Oil seals in moisture (aka WATER or cream conditioners) Oil is NOT a moisturizer. (imagine mixing water and oil in a cup, the oil will stay above the water...fundamental chemistry like you mentioned) use a water spritz, or water based conditioner UNDER your natural oils for natural hair.
Damian, I love you so much! I don't even have locs but I tune in just because I love you and your personality. And it helps that you are eye candy too!
Gabrielle Dean True I've met many black hair dressers who were awful and just plain terrible business communicators. But I'm not generalizing like everybody around here seems to because of some preconceived racist race notions
Hey Damian! When will you be in NY? Im in queens. On the 20th, I will be locked for 5 years. After about 6 months, I started doing my own hair. I did not know about product buildup. I have stopped using gels and all of that to maintain my styles but I have a lot of buildup at the ends of my hair. How do i fix that? and is peppermint soap good?
Peace and blessings Damian, you are truly a talented man with a gift. I have made the decision to loc my hair, I would love to know your thoughts on the apple cider vinegar and baking soda clarifying rinse that is supposed to remove loc buildup. You are amazing at what you do and I would love to hear your opinion. Peace and love
ive used creme of nature argan oil infused shampoo and it works great on my loose natural hair theleave in conditioner is great too at least to me. but id recommend finding a good cleansing shampoo to use before using the moisturizing shampoo. hope you dont mind me sharing
Hey Damian, I just started locs by myself cause I'don't know any loctritians here in Berlin. I have seen all your vids.I'm trying to follow your instructions, but I'm living in Germany and we got other products here. there are a few "afroshops" here but I never liked the products they're selling. And I don't like the Dove's series eather, thats why I'll try it with natural products like lavera and alverde and schoenenberger, german companies you can find on the Internet. Thanks u for sharing!
I was wincing at 05:30 the way he was snatching that lady hair.My scalp was hurting for her. only reason I wouldnt get my hair done by him. (that and im just natural anyways) But you can tell he was rushing a bit.
damian, is crème of nature a good shampoo for dreadlocs? also I keep hearing you say that the jamaican mango lime product line is not good for your locs. ive use the taliah waaiid product line and it does not hold my locs and itch my scalp like crazy. no build -up and no itching and no breaking or dryness with mango and I also have my edges (lol). can you tell me whats the difference?.
I really appreciate the stylist who came in to do the "look and learn". She owns a business and doesn't have to really further her education. But she was humble (not sure if that's the right word) enough to come in and observe someone else.
Hi I would like to know what shampoo and condition products do you use and were can I find them?. Im two months natural and need help please! By the way I love your personality & videos.
There’s NOTHING wrong with staying in your community and having your OWN people do your hair. We already don’t have a lot of black businesses and stay making white and Asian companies rich but our own. Just because we want to keep it in the “family” doesn’t make us racist. It’s funny that they want to come and learn how to do natural hair now that it’s popular and makes money but years ago they didn’t want to even learn. You never saw black people in their shops so I don’t want to hear about discrimination. Ugh these comments 🙄
aye what are the products you use to twist or re twist dreads cause i jsut started my dreads and im 2 months in and idk are products im supposed to use and i dont want to get the wrong ones
I have edges like the chick tht is natural and I even thought my edges were a little thin. Ppl do not take care of their hair. Ive been natural for 1 1/2 and will be texlaxing soon. Grew my hair to shoulder length will be bra strap length soon!! :D
DAMIAN... how you gone talk about the ppl after they done poured out they heart to you??? Then you post it on YT like they ain't gone see it later... DUDE!! Getcho' life maine!!
Dude came in there knowing damn well he didn't want his woman doing his locs his hair looked dry as is I can only imagine what the locs would look like he needs some moisturization
This is for Damian, professionals, or anyone who knows a solution. PLEASE SEE THIS & ANSWER IT. I have a hairline and then what I call my lockline(where my locks start). I've been growin them for 2½ years & over the past year my lockline has been receding. I stopped getting styles to prevent it but it is still going. Right now my lockline is about ½ inch back from my hairline. Any tips/suggestions to shorten the distance?
Damian you werent listening to that girl for the "look n learn" session. You asked her how long she had been doing hair and she told you 8 years. Then you asked her the same question a few minutes later. And you asked her about how long it took her to driver there twice. I was like is he even listening to her. Haha!
Please don't make sweeping comments about all naturals and their hair. Most of them don't have edges not because they're natural but because they damaged and tortured their hair when wearing a relaxer. You get to see all the jacked up hair because people come to you to save it, but it's plenty of naturals who know what they're doing with their own hair and it doesn't look a hot mess. Some choose the "hot mess" lazy, don't do nothing with their hair and I guess that's a choice. Love what you do
The same can be said for a lot of African American/Black hair dressers. Hmmm.... Don't be fooled some can really do natural hair. Shoot, even better than hair dressers with natural hair. I can't knock someone who is doing more research and getting more education in their chosen field. A lot are just in it for the money.
Let her PAY 4 the consult session u r giving her.Ask what would SHE do in questions she's asking u.If I'm not mistaken, didn't she say she's an expert in natural hair? Graciously accept her resume,do follow-up,DON'T offer position.
while i can greatly appreciate his talent and following , and the videos , i feel he is neglecting the persons who's hair is being serviced . pay more attention to the one in the chair , and have less dramatics , just do great videos
Thad white lady is giving off a negative nervous energy. I wouldn’t be let her come that close. She looks like she’s about to steal your method/brand/products, ect. She probably recorded the convo. Or I could be totally wrong based on my broken lens. 🤷🏾♀️ Best wishes Damian ! I pray that God will make anyone set up against you to fail at every attempt!
It's funny to hear the two different loc approaches between Damien and yonnie the locologist

This guy is the #truth! I love how he breaks things down. I notice you don't show much or many of the actual products.
Damian, I love you so much! I don't even have locs but I tune in just because I love you and your personality. And it helps that you are eye candy too!
He is cute 😍♥️❤️
Love when he says "Bless yo heart" to people, it always sounds so sincere, limbo
Who in their right mind is going to Miss Anne to get their locs done?

Will you ever be in the Chicagoland area? I want to get locs but I'm scared to let anyone else do it.
I really appreciate the stylist who came in to do the "look and learn". She owns a business and doesn't have to really further her education. But she was humble (not sure if that's the right word) enough to come in and observe someone else.
So you do natural haircare consultations for loose naturals as well?
Locs are high maintenance but people treat locs like all you have to do is get up and go 🙅🤦♀️💆
