That crayfish at 12:20ish is so beautiful. It looks like it would be difficult to prep but perhaps a rewarding result. So many good finds, plenty of crabs! The prep with the microscopy at the end is like a cherry on top of a Sunday! It's so fun to hunt vicariously in NZ with you though I can't wait until winter brings our gravels back. Cheers!
They've evolved like 5 separate times as well. 5 different lines of crustacean decided that the best body plan was apparently to be a crab. Some of these used to look shrimp like. And over time decided crab worked better.
I'm fairly sure the first "not a fossil" was actually something of interest, it looked to be a partial internal mould of a nautaloid or ammonite of some kind with those fissures being the suture lines.
Damn, that's one hell of a good spot! My boy Robin tried some hunting along Mons Clint in Denmark, but the rocks there are way more uniform and seems more difficult to find stuff. I became a patreon, just to share more of your work with him. :)
That little crab with intact claws just poking out was such a rewarding bit, as was pretty much the entire video haha. I'm pleased to have made it to the "one year ago" videos now, and looking forward to getting caught up. Cheers!
Fantastic finds, really enjoyed the vid , hope the lockdown ends soon and you can get back out there and do more great fossil hunting for us to watch , I love the prepping vids too , you got the music perfect for it , have fun , peace ✌️ 😎🌴
Found your videos in lockdown and caught the fossil bug, I never realised how easy it could be! Found a beach known for Cenozoic sandstone and Silurian rocks nearby (Beaumaris, Melbourne), can't wait for lockdown to be over to visit it and maybe find a crab!
Keep thinking I'll catch on to spotting a fossil. Everytime you say can you see the fossil, no. If you did find a penguin fossil how heavy would that concretion have to be? 🐧🦀🦈🐋
Your cute little crab is adorable. If it were mine I would love it and pet it and sing to it. Simply fabulous! I truly envy your ability to have the joy of looking for such treasures. I have been fascinated by rocks and fossils since I was a child but never got the chance to keep them for various reasons. *sad face* But I still love to see others attain them. Thumbs up.
If you happen to be on the west coast of the United States and get a chance for maybe a coastal road trip. I suggest Lost Creek Beach south of Newport Oregon, there are similar concretions. I cant say the same mostly they're smaller and you find a lot more clams and such that lived in a silty clay layer. But there are larger cobbles I never had any idea what I could be looking for so I skipped over and left behind all the time. 🤷🏻♂️. We know what crab legs sticking out the sides of rocks look like now
I bet you got a hell of a collection just seeing some of the stuff that you And what you clean up is just amazing I look forward to seeing when you clean them up what they look like
All around great finds! I would go nuts there...rocks, fossils, scenery. Miss my days being stationed by oceans/seas. My buddies would complain about the tide and no fish... while I'm looking for fossils and rocks. Thanks 👍
Stay healthy. What were the interesting looking rocks with all the holes. Liked the shapes . You'll have to name the cute little crab too. Love your videos
That one little crab that your friend found I wouldn't touch that one I'd leave it like it is mother nature knew what she was doing when she carved that one out you got a hell of an eye seeing some of the stuff that you do it's amazing how you see it
I love watching your vids. Can I ask a question on time lapse photography. I fancy doing one on an ammonite nodule from the Jurassic Dorset coast England. I lack the I.T. skills and equipment. Your huge crab prep was amazing I see it took terabytes of data. All I have is a galaxy J4+ phone, or a Panasonic ZT10 camera. I have a good tripod, Any advice can I do it?? with this fairly old tech?
You can use any camera to do it, its the processing afterwards that takes most of the time. I've done it with free software before (windows movie maker or iMovie) and it worked quite well!
@@MamlamboFossils thanks for getting back, so my smart phone has a better camera than my Panasonic, so film in real time then speed up in movie maker. I've done fossil vids in movie maker before perhaps I'll give it a try. I am amazed at tech these days when I was your age, the only way to contact New Zealand other than a hugely expensive telephone call would be a shed in the back garden and a 30ft aerial and an HF shortage radio transmitter. Even then atmospheric conditions could prevent comms. It would be very hit and miss.
Do you know of a method to date intact shells? I found one about 35 feet deep on an exposed earthen bank that had been recently excavated. The land was the site of an ancient prehistory inland sea.
It must be difficult to remove the rock from around fossils I can't even imagine what that's like 🦀 And that little crab is beautiful I hope you can free it one day that would be fun to watch Thank You 🙋♀️
Apparently there is at least one quarry in NZ where finding penguins is relatively easy (but I assume it's not open to the public) th-cam.com/video/M8FDAwePbTM/w-d-xo.htmlm36s
* At the 45 second mark, you were next to a stone that looked like it had fossils encased in stone & I would have broken one open to see if something fun was inside one of the bubbles. LOL ~ You picked up bone at 7:08 mark & ignored the cracked stone. Why didn't you look inside to see if it held a Fossil? ~ It was already cracked for you.. LOL
Mr.Mamlambo! I have a proposition for you! I will pay you to come to Detroit, and clad my whole exterior house in fieldstone!! Yes!!! Think of the fun of shouldering tons of stone (i know how much you ❤️it❣️) Price negotiable!! Starting@ $50!!!

Cool finds! It always amazes me how little crabs have changed over millions of years.

I love all your 🦀 crabs. There facanetting finds, and when you get them cleaned up, there amazingly gorgeous.
Thanks Laura! I love them as well!
13:00 basically the same in Danish too, all our Nordic languages have many similarities, but many differences too

It will be 2am here when the video comes out ^^' I'll be sure to watch tomorrow, good night/have a nice day!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for doing these great videos. So interesting and fun to watch.

Love watching your hunts I feel like I'm on the beach too ! Cool finds
Yay, glad you're enjoying them Tina!!
Easy to imagine a beach made of fossils and wave washed dragon bones. Love that worn crab! Stay vigilant 🖖💐
Really cool finds mate! Can't wait to get out on the weekend
I want to go there, but I'm on the other side of the planet. Once again, I am with you vicariously through these videos. Thanks for having us along!
Glad you could come along virtually!

Another FANTASTIC video! Thanks so much
So cool! I've been wondering where/how to find fossils in real life. Your videos solved the mystery.
All around great finds! I would go nuts there...rocks, fossils, scenery. Miss my days being stationed by oceans/seas. My buddies would complain about the tide and no fish... while I'm looking for fossils and rocks.
Thanks 👍
I love heading down to the beach for a look around!
Polished fossilised coral makes lovely specimens - or jewelery. Congratulations on the growth of your channel - a smidge off 50k.
Thanks! I'll have to look at polishing some!
2:39 the 4 white rock alignment must indicate aliens 👽
I love crabs cuz they looks cute and also love fossils cuz they feels cool. So I'm gonna subscribe your channel :> 👍
Thanks for subbing!
Stay healthy.

Love this comment!
Beauty finds Morne!!
So sorry that your still in lockdown🤷♂️can't wait for the preps.

Thank you very much!
You should get some of those damaged crab fosil that are not worth cleaning up and cut them on a plain and sell the slices. It would look pretty cool
Kia Ora from across the Pacific. I love watching your videos.
Very beautiful and excellent my good friend

Prolific couple of days by the sea! Excited to see inside all the finds. Try to stop spreading Covid all over the shore mate! 😉

Awesome find and vid Mam! Jealous as hell. My crab will come! :)
Fingers crossed! It will be out there!
Amei seu vídeo!

Thanks Patrick!
Man that one's going to be a big crab
Did you get the real flat crab done? The tiny was awesome. Also the one with the two pinchers, wow, that was something else! 🦀
After looking for so long,it just becomes natural. It's like treasure hunting to me..
Nice vid will you do a crayfish prep in your next vid
Next prep is something cretaceous!
Stay safe my friend!
Thanks mate!
What you're doing - it's really cool!!!! How much time does it take before the whole body of a crab gets coated in stone material?
The crayfish look like little submarines. Lol
I love those little crayfish!
good finds, when we go hunting its a good day if we find a good snail fossil
Thanks so much!!
Very cool finds!
Would you consider cutting the agate fossil to see what the inside looks like?
Happy new year
You found a good spot to hunt there!
It must be difficult to remove the rock from around fossils
I can't even imagine what that's like 🦀
And that little crab is beautiful
I hope you can free it one day that would be fun to watch
Thank You 🙋♀️
Did you got (prepared) this amazing crab from stone?
Do people find seals and penguins often? Or are they more of a bucket list rarity?
Apparently there is at least one quarry in NZ where finding penguins is relatively easy (but I assume it's not open to the public)

Very informative, thank you. I hope the fossil @ 5:20 (human torso?) doesn't violate any copyright re Wile E. Coyote - looked foxy to me
What are all the bright white rocks

Must have been quite a few pretty massive landslides in that area way back when👍✌
Constant cliff falls there!
I bet you be very happy to find a living dinosaur laying on the beach
And a bit scared 😀
What time?
In about 5 min from now
Here is a link to my rockhounding channel: th-cam.com/channels/yIYDaFNKo2UHkJg7mlwRQQ.html
Do only patreons actually see you prep the fossils
They see bonus preps 😀
Will you dig them out more in future videos? :o
You stay safe and healthy as well
Do you sella a crabs?
looks like a fossilised Mtb helmet
I would have been really happy to find that crab too
Have you found Ambergis in one of your hunts? Those can sell for a good amount. It has a very good smell to it and they sell for a goid amount too .
Yay :D
About time I released another video!
Steinkern comes from German and means Stone core.
Thanks for that!
Is it me but I’m seeing fossils everywhere🤔🤨🤭😉
So, you mean to tell me that after millions of years not once did anything happen to damage those claws sticking out of the rock? Sure.
10 : 19 a Shell .....
Good morning sir. I'm from indonesian🙌🙌
Hello there!
Steinkern is german but it means "snail"
Man you got one hell of a hobby but it's dirty and noisy as hell you go to clean them up
remember here it's 2 am !!!
I can't stay ahead of the timezones :D
Mr.Mamlambo!
I have a proposition for you!
I will pay you to come to Detroit, and clad my whole exterior house in fieldstone!! Yes!!! Think of the fun of shouldering tons of stone (i know how much you ❤️it❣️)
Price negotiable!! Starting@ $50!!!
Fact or fiction????????????

@@MamlamboFossils yes...fact or fiction!!! Something is not rite!!!
Fiction likely...
Holy cow, your soundtrack at the end of your video is giving me a seizure
Nice find sir so cool!
