Brilliant video...you have captured the essence of diesel traction. We see that the LP is an experienced expert Driver. From 0 he went gradually notching up to 105 kmph and the Tractive Effort meter in front of him was always green ...which means the TMs were not overloaded. If the motors were subject to rapid notching and heavy flow of current the meter will go to red. At 11:20 he applies dynamic braking with left hand and A9 air brake handle with right hand. The high pitched whine of the dynamic braking effort is thrilling to hear !! Excellent coverage by you...really envy you. Thanks...I felt I was in the cab.
@@datco4507 Hmm...maybe...but imagine , wherein normal airbrakes are applied , the number of cast iron brake shoes in a train of 24 8 -wheeled coaches and the friction heat generated in slowing down from 110 kmph to 0. You can see the sparks where the shoes clamp against the wheel. Imagine the heat released into the atmosphere.
Dynamic braking is normal procedure of reverse thrust wherever slow down distance is predictable. Reverse thrust is also the method used to slow down landing aircrafts on the tarmac
Can anybody explain what is the meaning of dynamic braking? How it works and why it is used when you have train and loco air brakes? Slso i see the throttle)notch changer lever is pulled down gradually to accelerate. But then what was the LP doing when the lever was pushed up? What is this system? And do electric loco have dynamic braking? Are only ALCO loco equipped with Dynamic braking?
HA HA THAT ALCO IS WALKING AND TALKING!! RUNNING LIKE SHE SHOULD! IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG SINCE MY LAST ALCO RIDE, EITHER AS ENGINEER OR JUST AS A CAB RIDER! NICELY DONE VIDEO, ALMOST GOOD AS A REAL RIDE!! NICE BRAKING WITH THE DYNAMICS, ALSO!! LIKE TO HEAR THEM HOWL LIKE BANSHEES! KEEP THEM ROLLING BROTHERS!! 👍👍
By far one of the best videos. The Alco is the star. The loco pilot and the assistant have made friends with the loco and you, sir, very wisely kept to the background like a good photographer. And still you kept the camera steady. Best wishes to all.
Nice video, kudos to these train drivers, they spend endless hours in these noisy cabins .. and in hot summer days, i can just imagine what these drivers goes through.. very stressing and non thankfully job...
Good capture video sir very nice shoots Great job sir 😍😍😍😍😍 LP & ALP great job sir because the LP job is I Am really interested to the LP job SO please any one ideas give me sir

Technically speaking. That dynamic braking was a waste. It releases heat into the atmosphere.

Very nice! I think the series-parallel transition happens at 2:32 - you can see the tractive effort meter drop down to zero and come back up again.
