It was a dumb decision to do without having work lined up first but it didn't change the fact that I needed food stamps. I was told I need proof that I was working and they would also need to contact my former employers to verify. My ex-husband's brother had a wife that taught her children all to steal. My husband and I were military for 25 years and so was his brother. His brother brought the kids back to originally from to visit while we were visiting and his mother took them shopping and the little girls were stuffing stuff in shoes that they were buying. When she told him to stop they said that's what their mom told them to do. She talking to steal she taught one to make a scene while the other one lift stuff from the store it's really sad. The children of grown up now what was a boy he was a stepson and went to the military he got into some trouble another was a girl and she became a drug addict and got some trouble with the last girl she got in trouble with the law but she cleaned her life up and the mother who taught them to steal? She passed away a few years ago. They said she committed suicide

Im a recovering addict of over a decade of use, currently 2 years and almost 10 months clean. I was one of these people shoplifting on a daily basis to sustain my habit. I was playing russian roulette every day hoping not to run into police, and Ive had the entire spectrum of interactions from asshole over aggressive cops to the kind like at the end of this video that cut that lady a break and tried to give her some words of encouragement. After getting clean I was able to reach out to the very few officers who showed me genuine kindness to let them know that I did turn my life around and to thank them from a sober state of mind

One time, i was shopping in a tiny store. A man came in. I noticed shop owner giving him the eye. He started chatting me up, getting closer to my shopping bag. I was silent, moved away over to shop keeper because it seemed like he was trying to drop what he had into my bag.
Everything in their carts were likely thrown out. The store cannot put groceries back on the shelf if it’s left the store. That’s why they try to stop them before they walk out the door.
Those kids have horrible attitudes towards the cops, their parents obviously taught them from a young age that police aren't there to help them.. how upsetting to hear the way they spoke to officers when they're the ones in trouble? Blows my mind 😂
My neice stole items when her 8 yr old daughter was with her, she got caught, and her daughter had to witness her getting arrested. A year later she lost custody of all 3 of her children due to severe drug use. I am now raising her daughter. My niece used to be a good mother, worked while attending college, and always took her children to church until she started using drugs. Now she is homeless, in horrible physical condition, and blames everyone but herself.
The kids were innocent, but they've been corrupted by their mother and now I don't think that they can really be considered innocent children. The way they spoke to the police and carried themselves revealed young criminals with no remorse, guilt, or shame. The mother should be locked away forever, in my opinion , as she has probably ruined her children's lives and any hope for a bright future. She should be accountable for the lives of her children that she probably ruined and the damage she's done to them.

Nope. Shoplifting is obviously a massive issue, but generally only 1-2% of big business revenue is lost to theft. Prices are high because the us dollar has less than 1/5th the purchasing power it did 50 years ago. That effects prices wayyyy more than a 2% loss.
Why are we allowing this to continue? Who decided these are not serious offenses? I for one am sick of paying for all this behavior with higher taxes for the police budgets and higher prices every time I go shopping. It needs to stop.

I’m going to be honest, my husband left me with 3 children and no support. We learned he passed away this past February. Fortunately, I was able to finish paying the mortgage on our home by working 2 full time and 2 part time jobs. I cannot tell you how I have struggled or how tired I am. I managed to clothe and care for my children, but there were some very lean times when it came to food. I did go to ask for help, but I was told they couldn’t help me, but if I would quit one of my jobs they could help me. Well, if I gave up that income I wouldn’t be able to make my mortgage or my car payments. I didn’t want to go backwards, so I dug my heels in. Now, all 3 of my children graduated Magna Cum Laude. To think that these women get $1400 in food stamps and they’re stealing another $1000.00. Seriously? Plus, none of them look like they’re going hungry. And, that boy is wearing a SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE T shirt. That’s my neck of the woods. Ooooo! The other lady saying she went into Target to use the bathroom and was told they had none is ridiculous. My neice stole items when her 8 yr old daughter was with her, she got caught, and her daughter had to witness her getting arrested. A year later she lost custody of all 3 of her children due to severe drug use. I am now raising her daughter. My niece used to be a good mother, worked while attending college, and always took her children to church until she started using drugs. Now she is homeless, in horrible physical condition, and blames everyone but herself.

The kids were innocent, but they've been corrupted by their mother and now I don't think that they can really be considered innocent children. The way they spoke to the police and carried themselves revealed young criminals with no remorse, guilt, or shame. The mother should be locked away forever, in my opinion , as she has probably ruined her children's lives and any hope for a bright future. She should be accountable for the lives of her children that she probably ruined and the damage she's done to them.
The kids knew that what they were doing was wrong, but still continued to do it anyway. The shame and embarrassment that used to be associated with shoplifting doesn’t exist nowadays. Today it’s almost a badge of honour to be caught in the act.

Nope. Shoplifting is obviously a massive issue, but generally only 1-2% of big business revenue is lost to theft. Prices are high because the us dollar has less than 1/5th the purchasing power it did 50 years ago. That effects prices wayyyy more than a 2% loss.

I truly don’t understand how some people think, I mean seriously “stealing isn’t cheaper than getting arrested and having to pay fines”. Although it’s even much worse when you’re receiving free money from the government, while still feeling entitled to steal. I’m going to be honest, my husband left me with 3 children and no support. We learned he passed away this past February.
Fortunately, I was able to finish paying the mortgage on our home by working 2 full time and 2 part time jobs. I cannot tell you how I have struggled or how tired I am. I managed to clothe and care for my children, but there were some very lean times when it came to food. I did go to ask for help, but I was told they couldn’t help me, but if I would quit one of my jobs they could help me. Well, if I gave up that income I wouldn’t be able to make my mortgage or my car payments. I didn’t want to go backwards, so I dug my heels in. Now, all 3 of my children graduated Magna Cum Laude.
To think that these women get $1400 in food stamps and they’re stealing another $1000.00. Seriously? Plus, none of them look like they’re going hungry.
