Didn't bother mentioning it in the video, but I've noticed a few angry comments directed at me getting "free GPUs".
I bought this card locally here in Aus, just as I bought the 3090 and 5900X in my personal system + a great deal of the hardware that I review.
I understand that stock and prices are a huge issue at the moment, but I'm still going to provide you guys with content.

Appreciate the honesty and love the content. Glad that nothing gets in the way of an unbiased review, not that I ever thought a free gpu would sway your authenticity. Sorry for the trolls and thanks again for the amazing content!
Unrelated, but still relevant to the SFF community... Been watching your vids for a couple years now and ended up getting a Cooler Master nr200p upon launch based on what I saw from you. I wanted the extra boost in performance from the Kraken x63, but the aesthetics of the vertical gpu, so I ended up creating a bracket/mount kinda thing that fits on the bottom of the case. Keeps the rad and fans snug in place and is probably safe... It can be 3d printed fairly quickly. Not sure if you have a 3d printer, but you seem like someone who might, or at least knows someone who does. Or if you want, I could probably send you one. Can someone explain to me how this guy isn’t the most popular tech TH-camr right now?

    • @Shieftain
      @Shieftain 3 ปีที่แล้ว

That would be because he's pretty much as professional as they come. He doesn't have clickbait titles and doesn't make stupid thumbnails for his videos (unlike a certain soyfaced popular techtuber who has a tendency to drop things). It'd say it's also because his channel is relatively new compared to some of the other popular guys out there (only been around here for a bit less than 4 years) and he is a bit more niche since his work is generally more SFF focused. Good news is his channel has been seeing quite a lot of growth in the past year since SFF systems are becoming more mainstream, so I think he'll become one of the most popular techtubers in a few years.

    It's so cute.
Actually, is really cool. I've been waiting to see if they can do something like this for the 30 series cards.
I want them to keep continuing to push to make stuff like this because they need to keep pushing that envelope for SFF to continue to be a thing.
I use an NCase M1 packed to the gills and is very dense and heavy, similar to the builds done on this channel but if all we have are mini-ITX cases designed to BARELY accommodate the latest gargantuan performance GPUS, eventually we won't have SFF cases anymore. There needs to be stuff like this to keep showing us what is possible in terms of SFF so that cases will keep being made to reciprocate.

From what I've read online and personal experience, most users can undervolt this card from the stock 1000mV down to 900mV and still push 1900MHz. The undervolt shaves 20W off of peak power consumption and 5-7C off of peak temp. The fans spin at a lower speed as well, which is important for a SFF build where airflow is constrained and noise becomes a huge issue. Not sure why the core voltage was set so high out of the box; at 1000mV the card should be able to do 2000MHz. Maybe it's to address the variation between batches and ensure that the card is stable for those who don't tweak it?
Edit: Looking at the frequency curve in MSI Afterburner, it appears that EVGA has set the Vcore to 1000mV for 1845MHz. I'm pretty confident most users can achieve that at 900mV, and 950mV in the worst case scenario. The cooler on this card isn't great. It's noisy relative to other cards.
Edit edit: Another note on airflow, supply as much of it to the card as possible. The airflow in my case kinda sucks and the card consistently edges towards 80C even with an undervolt. Not sure if I got a bad card or what. Will report back with open air testing.

It’s a shame we don’t see more compact higher end GPUs as often they feature a 3rd fan w/ structural cutouts for airflow which can be eliminated and just boost the rpm a little bit to offset the higher temps without the need to have deafening audio from these fans. Great to see a more compact design hit the market.

This is also the cheapest EVGA design (when I checked). When the difference between the 3060ti and the 3070 is so small for AiB cards, this is a really good option!

Put one of these in a NR200 case recently. Managed to snag one in Australia - it was one of the only 3060's left in stock. I'm guessing people are put off by the size and price, but it's perfect for what I want!

Immediately thought of small Silverstone Tek cases. Currently still using EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6GB in a RVZ01, deshrouded and small size doesn't restrict airflow in from the side fans.

Wish they had made 3070 and 3080 in XC design (not XC3). So it could fit in 2 slot cases. Doesn't have to be a short version like this though, a 3 fan version, but pure 2 slot (not 2.2).

I'm considering deshrouding mine to throw on some NF-A9s, but those metal tabs are giving me a concern as to whether or not the bottom one will sit flush. Top (closest to the video outputs) seem like it'd have no problem fitting though.
::EDIT:: Can confirm the metal tabs interfere. Would require grinding them off or designing and printing out a custom shroud in order to ensure proper alignment of aftermarket fans.
