[TAS] Project M: The Subspace Emissary Speedrun in

This is the final result of a project that has cumulatively taken over five months of work. This is New Game Plus Debug%.
No cutscenes to skip, no characters to unlock, no extras involved. The only requirement is to beat all of the levels with any methods possible (Except hard-cheating to the end).
To ease the amount I have to type into this description, I made a glossary with some definitions of the most frequent techniques involved alongside popups whenever a given technique appears. Specific examples that weren't covered in the video include Meta Knight's numerous applications of Turbo Mode (In which he conserves vertical momentum by cancelling his Up-B with another move) and the several instances of entering doors to quit fights against characters (A NG+ strat to prematurely complete levels). Feel free to ask any other questions in the comments; I'll reply to them as best as I can (As long as they weren't already answered in the video).

With everything said and done, I'm probably never going to TAS this again.
Any other "New Game" variants, with or without Debug Mode, currently feel like a waste of effort because of the gigantic amount of needless time added onto them (Loading times for cutscenes that will be skipped Frame 1, unnecessary character re-choosing).
As shown in the video, I've broken down NG+ so incredibly hard that there's nothing left except for miscellaneous optimizations that I happened to miss. Skippable fights and autoscrollers were skipped, stage collision was broken in ways thought of as impossible one year ago, and the mandatory fights were optimized on a greater than or equal to level of the NG Debug% TAS I made in 2018.
This TAS has 54,681 rerecords. Assuming that the rerecords were spread out equally across the 110,445 frames of the timed run (Which is heavily inaccurate for multiple reasons), there was an average of one rerecord (The equivalent of loading a savestate, to do an action differently or to fix a mistake) every 2.02 frames.
This game will probably never *ever* be truly "maxed" in a similar fashion to games like Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario 64 because of the game's limitless combinations of possible events, both to do with item RNG and to do with enemy AI manipulation. In the majority of other games' TASes, the enemies are either skipped or damage boosted through once and then forgotten about. In Subspace Emissary, even in the most ideal scenarios presented in this video, there are numerous areas where the entire *goal* is to destroy a gigantic amount of enemies as fast as possible. And given how quickly the number of outcomes grow just by killing an enemy to get two different (And important) items a single frame apart, the entire grand scheme of outcomes is practically unlimited. There's a reason why the RTA record for Intense Difficulty (2:21:28) is over *47 minutes* slower than the _ridiculously low optimization_ TAS (1:34:03) I made nearly four years ago.
You're seriously amazing man, this is probably like the 20th subspace TAS you made and it's amazing how far you've gotten. You're a god of subspace TAS.

The unintended narrative of watching Meta Knight climb a mountain only to see him being bodied by Captain Falcon at its summit will never stop being funny for me.
I’m more entertained by the fact that he gets meteored to the bottom of the blast zone, as though he just fell down the mountain. considering how quickly he climbed the mountain, it just looks like something small and inconvenient that bothers you, like falling down a flight of stairs, and that’s why I love it so much.
It’s like a bizarro version of Celeste.

The initial strategies I attempted in the rough draft included using Pikachu's Quick Attack to clip the corner at a precise angle (Which I couldn't get), and using Giga Bowser's Down-B to hit the switch with its ridiculous hitbox (It worked, but Giga Bowser can't enter doors, making it useless).
Eon suggested Toon Link, and I was able to get it to work.

yea, throughout the entire Subspace I was like, WHERE IS MY SONIC! Then once I got him to mess with in New Game + I was like, Oh, well this makes sense, Sonic is clearly unlocked at the end to then allow Speedruns of the game.

The unfortunate matter is that the communities for speedrunning Brawl and Project M are *ridiculously* smaller than the communities that speedrun Super Mario 64, The Wind Waker, and a bunch of other games.
It doesn't help that Brawl is the least competitively popular Smash game and that Project M is taboo (I know the pun, I'm not going for it) thanks to Nintendo.

After the painful setbacks, it's great to see this all finished up, and it's such an entertaining TAS!
Sonic, we need to talk about your self harm issues.
He's been on the down low ever since Tabuu killed Tails in cold blood.
This makes me sad Ultimate did not do platforming stages with World of Light. As fun as the bosses were, I enjoyed playing huge levels with the huge roster of fighters. The Subspace Emissary will never be surpassed by any other single player content in any other Smash game.
If World of Light had DLC that added as many platforming levels as TSE had, I would pay so much for that. I don't care about the cutscenes. In TSE, they were a bonus. Charming, but the levels are what made it fun. In WoL, they just tried to make Event Match more grand. And even then, Melee has more creative matches, some even having new stages and items.
I can play Ultimate whenever I have friends over, which is rare ever since all of them moved on with life, but TSE is something I can play with a friend or alone. It is just so much fun to mess around in. I hope someday, somebody mods Project M to include all of the characters from Sm4sh and Ultimate. I don't expect something like that to exist for several more years, but when it does, I will play as every one of those characters in The Subspace Emissary.

while i do think Subspace Emissary is cool, if they choose to not do something like it again i think an upgraded Smash Run would be more viable (because Sakurai wouldn't have the permission to use some characters in cutscenes making it hard to integrate them into the story, while Smash run doesn't really have that problem and is still just as fun to play), heck they could do so much more to Smash Run but instead they brought back Homerun Contest (which i also do like but honestly Smash Run just is way more interesting. But no, they had to do Homerun because everyone wanted it despite people barely even playing the mode now and ruining the chance for a more fun gamemode to be added that is similar to TSE despite not being a huge campaign [let's face it the only reason for Homerun Contest to be so popular is Sandbag])

it's funny how besides peach, sonic is the most usefull character in subspace yet how is only available in the final battle
also it's a shame that out of nearly 40 characters only toon link(21:06), metaknight(22:30), falco(19:30), falcon, sonic, fox & peach actually were useful.
I kinda wish Ganondorf was used in this run personally, I know he is alow as hell, but for multifight baddies i would have liked to see him just clear the scores of baddies with his power.

I like how the optimal choice for getting quickly through the running levels is actually Sonic. No weird exploit with some other character, literally just Sonic and a bomb

It makes me think a 2D Sonic game with no momentum and a combat system might not just be a bad idea,
