    I used to have the forest green version of this gun about 15 years ago. Gave it to a good friend and have missed it ever since. Looks like it's time to pick up this neat kit and relive some good memories.

    I recently purchased a crosman 1377 pistol after the used one I had purchased broke 3-4 years ago, it is just as I remember it, I'm just saying you won't be disappointed with your purchase :)

    Perfect for hunting small game in a survival situation, especially for those who cannot get a real gun, or for silent hunting!

    Just got this kit today and while I've only been able to shoot it at a pretty close distance so far, the gun is phenomenally accurate. I really like this gun a lot and wouldn't mind getting another one down the road

    Great review as usual - thanks. Have some minor issues: The stock is a bit wobbly. You can fix this somewhat with Gorilla or duct tape but hot weather leaves this soft and sticky. If you are careful and handy you can drill out the carbine stock and fix the stock with two screws just like a 1322/77 but the stock will not be easy off/on. Install the optional steel breech to allow a scope ( my 80 year eyes see 80 year old targets so a scope helps). The bigger style pump arm is supposed to help prevent pinched fingers - but I much prefer the older skinny version/never pinched my fingers since 1988 or so? If the plastic barrel band is loose or twist get some Go2 glue from WalMart (Loctite brand) and glue the barrel to the pump tube - use several thin layers or the adhesive or it may run before setting. The Go2 is pliable yet will hold the barrel and it can be scraped off with a small stick. It works in heat or cold. I get best performance at 50 feet, 5 pumps and almost any standard 14 grain pellet like Crosman Premier. Thanks Hope you can find one of these guns as Crosman issues these from time to time but don"t seem to build a lot? Be safe and keep your shooting skills tuned Godspeede

    Hey Rick, this was one of my favorite guns until a friend broke it. Sadly the 2289 Backpacker as it was called here in Canada was discontinued several years ago. It was more of a can killer for me, as the sound of pumping usually scared off most game within 100 yds. So my 1377c takes its place, just not as a hunter.

    I believe it is a 2289, but the parts should be interchangeable.. I put a steel breach on my backbacker and it was for a 1322.. it works great

    I'll probably work up a "rough cut" video at some point showing the two. I have to say that the peep sight makes this gun really good just with open sights. It will be fun trying to find that perfect optic that fits the purpose of the product.

    I would like to see a video with the mods added and a comparison between the two with a cost breakdown. Great review. I was looking at this on Crosman's website but I can't get airguns shipped to NJ( they must be purchased through a FFL like a "real" firearm).

    Yep.. here's a taste.. upgraded barrel to the 14 & 5/8" (ads a little fps), adjustable trigger assembly from crosman, steel breach from PyramydAir, scope and rings, and a muzzle break from TKO22. Not sure what else I may try.. but so far I'm happy with what I got from these current mods.

    Great video! Can the pump mechanism take bottoming out of the pump stroke like you're doing? I understand that it uses a split pin and/or rivets as fasteners at either end of the cocking lever. I also noticed the strengthening ridges in the sheet metal lever. I am thinking of buying the Drifter kit from Pyramid Air and appreciate any detailed specs about this design, as it appears to be used in several of Crossmans pump pistols and rifles. Thanx!:)-John in Texas

    Can you do a review of the Sheridan 2260 from PA.

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I asked PA for one and because it's a special edition, they are not inclined to send me one to review. It's a beefed up 2260 in that it has the metal sights and steel breach vs plastic breach. It should be a very nice shooting gun.

    It does not come with grips but you may be able to add them. There is a 1322 that is a pistol which would work well for small birds.

    Good review and I too purchased one at the time. I have since modified my 2289 and was wondering if you had modified yours as you alluded to in the video. I went with a 24" barrel, flat-top piston and valve, larger transfer port, steel breach, heavier hammer spring and got the iron rear sight from Archer Air. I also tried a Beeman Red Dot but found I liked the iron sights better. In my tests I used the Crosman hallow points and before mods was getting 465 fps. With the pointed hunters I got an average of 470 fps. Since my mods my chrony died so I'm saving for a new one. My intention with the mods was to add reach to my shots out to about 40 yards. I tested after the barrel mod and found the increase was only up to 545 fps. That's when my chrony died. The valve and hammer spring mods made a bigger difference but I need the chrony to document the results. I based the difference on shooting at a soft target about 100 feet. Before I had to aim about 10 inches above the target to hit it. And after I only needed to aim about 4" above center. With the holidays nearing I'll probably have to wait till January to get that chrony. Thanks again.

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you like the 2289. I did take the time to mod mine, and just when I was done, someone wanted to buy it. I put a 14" 5/8" barrel (24" did not improve velocity), steel breach, etc. I'm shooting the H&N Baracuda Green pellets at 12.35 grain and they did very, very well. I don't remember the final FPS, but I seem to remember it being over 550 fps.
      Cheers,
      AGW

  • @AirGunWeb
    @AirGunWeb  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's too bad.. Both of mine have been excellent. If you purchase from PA you can get the 10 for $10 test.. they will inspect and test the gun before shipping.. function and velocity with a chrony tape along with certificate.. that way you don't have this kind of situation.
    Cheers!

    There are several negative aspects about the 2289 not mentioned in this review.The plastic barrel band is of poor design and quality and causes the barrel to wobble.The detachable skeleton stock wobbles as well. The trigger pull is far too heavy. However, these guns are easy to mod and all of those issues can be fixed with some after market modding, thus making the 2289 a fine little carbine.

    Hello Rick (thx for your good and honest vids)
    It's been 2 months since You last replied so i am checking if You've done something on your "Doomsday" gun (just to keep You on your toes hehe)
    so i have a few questions
    - have you moded this Survival "1322" yet ?
    - Could You give us an an idea/preview of what they will/would be ?
    - Could You please quote a cost of the mods involving extra/different parts
    - What would be needed to do these mods (as for tools), involving or not new parts.
    Many thanks for any response.
    Greetings from France

      Hey there.. I did mod mine.. and just as soon as I got it all done, I had a call from an airgunner in Hawaii that was looking for exactly what I had built, so out the door it went. I'll have to figure out if I want to give it another go. It did turn out very good. I added a longer barrel which brought up the FPS to stated velocity, steal breach, & lightweight scope. Great little gun.

      AirGunWeb I bough one of these and for what they are, there pretty good. What would be a good length for a barrel, if you get on too long that just defeats the purpose. As is I've shot squirrels and magpies in my backyard and it brings them down no problem, but would like to make some mods.

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe King I use the 14 5/8" barrel from Crosman. I believe it's what they use in the 2250xe. It's not that expensive and it seems to be a good length to optimize the power. If you want some great mods, go look at www.bnmcustom.com

    So the stock is the basic 1399 stock, just without the screw holes? I assume there would be no issues with using the 1399 stock so it can be secured using the standard screw mounting (I heard the stock had some movement under use).

  • @ogbobbye
    @ogbobbye 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    that is what I want a 1322 with a stock. I look at the usual places but didn't find one even pyramyd site said not available you posted this in 11/12 so did I miss the boat on picking this up. my end goal is to covert it to a carbine >stock, longer barrel, and scope. Another question I have once it is converted to a carbine will I be able to change it back to pistol if I wanted?

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey there.. I posted this 2 years ago. I'm not sure that this is available anymore unfortunately. You can get the 1322 and swap back and forth between pistol and carbine. If you get a really long barrel (12" or 14 5/8 is about optimal), it will be unwieldy as a pistol.

      charles910 - It may be. You may want to try the pellets that came with the package, the pointed field hunting pellets. Perhaps the shoot differently despite being the same weight.

  • @buijs1967

    Hatsan LP25 Tactical is better, better trigger, fully adjustable stock, more power with only one " stroke", easier to mount a scope. It just feels more solid as well. But the Crosman is lighter, has no recoil and you can keep it pumped up for a period fo time, which is not the case with a springer like the Hatsan.

    I bought one of these. It is not good.
    The stock release button will certainly wear a hole in one's hand. I'm bleeding.
    The stock is held in place by plastic pegs on the right side of the frame. These pegs have shorn off after 200 rounds.
    Similar pegs on the frame's left side are metal, and have chewed into the stock, making it wobbly, before it comes off during pumping.
    Sorry to say this is junk. Thanks, Crosman.

    Crossman, can drill a small hole in the front sight, and put a red stick in it, and mold a mount, on the bottom of the grip, for laser or flashlight, or mold a mount in front of the barrel, and make a small block, one piece, scope mount, to put on the barrel, or make, scope mounts that, one end, clap on the barrel and the other end set into the rear sight mount. Or a slip on Mount, to put on the front of the barrel, and back of the front sight laser or flashlight mounts, basically you have to be a design development enginer, with new ideas and concepts, and have to make them your self, because, I have not, seen, any of the ideas or concepts, on there pistol / rilfe, stocks, or. Go to the store, and buy them. Maybe, Crossman design development engineering department, will, put it on the market, ??
