  • Want to know the best way to set up your Ohme Intelligent EV charger charge schedule? Everybody is different, but our editor Danny Morgan explains his own personal charge schedule is set up to charge his electric car and shows you how to do the same.
    Smart electric car charge points not only charge your car faster and more safely, but they can save you money on charging. How do you do this?
    First, you'll need an EV and a smart home charge point that allows you to set up charge schedules (just like the Ohme in our video).
    Then you will also need to switch to an energy tariff that offers cheaper pricing or an off-peak rate (usually for a few hours overnight)
    The extra charging speed offered by a dedicated 7kW home charge point means you can take advantage of any off-peak "windows" where the price of electricity is cheaper.
    Then, simply set up a charge schedule that matches the off-peak window when your electricity prices are lower.
    In this video Danny explains how he uses the charging schedule feature on his Ohme Intelligent Wall charger and how you can use it to best suit your charging needs.

    This is an excellent step by step video showing how to set up a charging schedule; I wish all app suppliers did the same.

    Hi, I've just had an Ohme Home Pro installed so I found this video really helpful thanks for making it.
    I'd really appreciate your advice - I have a VW e-Golf which as you'll know has an e-manager to set up charging and departure times etc - now I've got the Ohme charger & app do I need to use the car's e-manager or should I ignore as the Ohme is now in control! Sorry if this an obvious question, I keen not to create "conflict" between the Ohme and the settings in my e-Golf.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Nicola, this is quite an old video now but I am glad it was still helpful to you. You're correct - you need to either use the Ohme for full control of charging or the vehicle's settings. It's generally best to remove the charging and departure times set on the car itself and let Ohme take care of that so there is no "conflict".

    Hi the schedule I've set-up for my Ipace for my OHME charger doesn't work. The only way I can get the charger to work is if I over-ride the schedule and use the 'Charge as fast as possible' option, but this means I am unable to schedule around my off peak rate. Is this something related to the I-PAce settings, as I've watch the tutorial and followed the guidence for the app? If if is the I-PAce, can you advise on what I need to change for the car settings? Thanks

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lennox, sorry to hear that. It is hard to say what could be the cause as there are many variables.
      1. Double check there is not a schedule set up in the vehicle itself. This can conflict with the Ohme schedule.
      2. Check you've selected the correct energy supplier in the app and that there isn't a price limit. It is best to remove as many variables as possible.
      But I would recommend contacting Ohme support directly as they will be able to remotely diagnose and troubleshoot this for you. We can only really assist with issues related to the installation.

      I hope that helps.

    Is there anyway you can actually schedule a start time? Ie I want it to start at 2030hrs and finish at 0130hrs at full power, what actually happens when you use the daft app is it starts as soon as you plug in.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi - unfortunately not. The Ohme works on percentage targets. You could set a schedule to reach your percentage target by 0130hrs. If you want to charge during these hours because you have an off-peak rate then set the Ohme app to "Save money" in the settings, which may achieve what you're after. Otherwise, I'd recommend contacting Ohme to request the feature you want.

    Hi I have the new ohme home pro installed and simply want to charge when required between the hours of 01:00hrs & 07:00 when I am on the cheap rate, how do I do that?

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeff, if you follow the instructions in this video and make sure the Ohme app is set to "save money", then it should automatically charge on your off-peak hours, so long as you've told it which tariff you're on.
      The only scenario it will charge outside these hours are if your target percentage is not achievable within those hours, but it should notify you when this will happen so you can do something about it.
      If you are still unsure, I would advise speaking to your installer (as we don't install the Ohme Home Pro) or visiting Ohme's support page and/or contact the Ohme support team.

    How do you set it up to start after 23.30 as I am on a octopus ev tariff where its cheap from 23.30 to 05.30

    • @dmorgsev
      @dmorgsev 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As this video is quite old, I'd probably refer to my two newer ohme review videos.
      But to achieve this there are two options:
      Firstly make sure you have told ohme in the app which tariff you're on, so it knows the prices and times when these are in effect.
      1. Go into settings and select "save money" (I think it is still called this anyway). This will tell the ohme to prioritise cheaper prices.
      2. Set a price cap. You can do this in conjunction with the above, but essentially this tells the ohme not to charge the car over a certain price per kWh. This is found in the tariff settings I believe. Put in the off peak price you want to ensure the ohme charges at.
      And that should do it.
      Just keep in mind the price cap will always be in effect, so if you want an instant charge, you'll need to override this manually.
      Hope that helps.

    How do I create a start time on my ohme app so it only charges during off peak between 1am and 6am

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hello Stuart - with the Ohme charge point and app, you cannot set a "start" or "finish" time. As mentioned in the video, the Ohme works a little different to other chargers in that you set a target charge percentage and target time. The Ohme then does the rest.
      The best way to ensure it only charges during your off peak is to set a price limit. You should be able to find this in settings, where you can tell the Ohme to not charge over a certain price per kWh. Input your off-peak electricity price here, and that should restrict charging to that off peak window.
      If you're struggling, I'd recommend contacting Ohme direct.

    Fixed rate tariff with energy supplier. No point is scheduling? I just want to plug by car in and it to charge now. I deleted all my schedules to be able to achieve this. The car then stops the charge when it reaches the limit I set on my Tesla app? Am I missing something? Overly complicated process.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Bruce, if I understand your comment right, you're saying there is no point in setting up a schedule if you're on a fixed rate, right? If so, then yes you can just "plug and charge" with any home charge point if that's easier for you.
      This tutorial is more aimed at those with off-peak rates really or those with vehicles that do not have particularly good charging settings in the vehicle (unbelievably they do exist).

    why does my immediately charge when I plug it in i wanted to charge from 12:00 am to 7 a.m. at cheaper rate even though I set my car up to default at 12:00 a.m.

      Hi, thanks for watching. It's hard to tell without seeing your setup, but you need to make sure there are NO schedules set within the car itself as these will conflict with anything on the Ohme app.
      Have you tried reaching out to Ohme?

    • @jakeroadtonowhere4070

      @@dmorgsev thanks for replying I will reach out to Ohme My car only has a start time . I’ve set it for 12 am default charge but when I plug in the vehicle and I’ve set up my schedule it seems to charge immediately done. I have to press pause on my ohme app I think it may be to do with the tariff set up with me at the moment, not having a cheap tariff the same tariff throughout the day and night Maybe it’s not recognising the tariff being cheaper at night, so it doesn’t charge when you want it to

    • @dmorgsev
      @dmorgsev 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jakeroadtonowhere4070 I would turn off all schedules on the car. Even if that doesn't solve this particular problem, it will almost certainly cause different issues and prevent the Ohme from controlling the charge. Well worth checking what tariff you've selected also.
      Otherwise, check in with the team at Ohme as they'll be able to remotely diagnose this potentially.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately with the Ohme you cannot set a start time or finish time. There is a setting, however, that allows you to set a price cap - in other words, the Ohme won't charge over the price of your off-peak window. You should be able to find this in the settings menu, but if you have trouble it's best to contact Ohme's support team.

    This doesn't tell us anything that you couldn't figure out in 30 seconds looking at the app. How about some more complex scenarios like ensuring you take full advantage of plunge pricing when available while still ensuring you have 70 percent in the morning regardless?

    • @dmorgsev
      @dmorgsev 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stuart, thanks for the feedback. It might seem obvious to you, but I regularly speak to customers who want help with the basics and many new EV drivers aren't familiar with the concept of using an app with their vehicle. It is important we bring everyone with us on this EV journey.
      EV charging seems complicated and inconvenient to many, so I want to prove that it is actually simple. If that means making some basic tutorials then that is what I will do.
      There will be more advanced stuff in the future that may be up your street but clearly this one isn't aimed at you 😉
