I’m married to someone diagnosed with ADD and I so wish he would have been taught coping skills rather than only being medicated. And he agrees! It so affects our marriage and is another hurdle to overcome.

Have you seen: Do schools kill creativity? | Sir Ken Robinson | TED (On TH-cam?) Gillian Lynne struggled in school because she could not sit still. The school sent her to the Doctor. The Doctor put some music on and talked to her mother. Gillian started to dance to the music. "There is nothing wrong with Gillian" the doctor said, "She is a DANCER!"
Gillian Lynne ended up very rich. She worked on Cats and Phantom of the Opera. Our children are creative. ❤️😀❤️Not disabled. ❤️😀❤️

Hey I just wanted to let you know that this week I have been letting my son listen to music with headphones while he does his independent work and it’s like magic!!! Before we started doing this he would sing out loud while doing his work and it was very distracting to me and his sister. Now he works so quietly and it really does help him focus!!! Thank you!! I thought it would be a distraction listening to music but it really does help him focus!!

Very helpful video!! Lots of great ideas and a great reminder that it still takes a huge amount of parental involvement to help daughters and sons who have ADHD even when they are teens! I have a 15 year old with ADHD and high functioning autism and she still needs a huge amount of help with organization, focus and redirection. Sometimes it’s tiring after so many years so this video was a great encouragement to keep trying!!!

30 min of quiet time would be torture for my son. He needs nearly continuous attention. It is a challenge, but I typically set the timer in 5 min increments throughout the day and ask him to choose an activity he is interested in to engage in independently.

I give my daughter a lot of time and attention, but it feels like she needs a hug literally every minute and is constantly demanding attention and approval. It feels overwhelming. Can this be a part of ADHD? She does seem to have trouble focusing and staying on task. She is almost 6
