The 1954 Dodge Royal with the little HEMI is a sweet old car. I'm going to show you a cheap way to remove paint oxidization and imperfections, how to do a cheap quick buff, then how to mix up some of that majical shine juice, most call linseed oil, to preserve and make the patina and rust shine!
*linseed oil is highly flammable, try to work safely fellers! Don't burn your beard off!*

Hey @vicegripgarage I have to tell you that you have opened my eyes to a whole different out look on vintage/classic/antique cars... I'm a huge classic car guy and I was 1 of those dummies that only looked for 2 door models if a 4dr model shower up, my first thought was YUK. My next issue was when I found a 2 door thst I liked I'd immediately work on getting the car painted and just go crazy on it. Viewing your channel the last few weeks.... you have given me this huge inspiration that even the 4 doors are gorgeous and I don't have to go nuts with paint I can just get her running and give her a nice little bubble bath and she will look great with that I'm an old lady patina so I must say Thank You man. you have opened my eyes to the fact that these cars are all going away and they don't have to look brand new to be appreciated!! If I think of all the 4 door models I passed up on, I should be dipped in cow Manure... So thank you Sir!!!!! I have a feeling my collection is about to get way bigger! P.S. if you get a message from my old lady just ignore it. Shes believes in you can only drive 1 car at a time, so no need to have so many.... so Thanks Again and keep saving these beauties!

Bought a '50 Dodge Coronet back in 1975. Made her road worthy and drove her daily for 12 years.. Sold her to a young kid (wish I had kept her) who drove her home to Minnesota from south east Kansas without a hitch. Loved the "Gyro-Matic" tranny. Two forward gears with an overdrive on the differential. Keep up the good work. Love your videos.

I have never been much into the 4 door 50's cars until now. I love this car. What is even better is that I usually look at something like what you have done here and automatically think it would look better restored. No Sir, not this one. What you have done to it is about as good as it gets !!!

I looked into it when I bought a 130 year old mauser rifle and was suprised to find that the stock's linseed finish was still a little gummy or tacky. It had never been fired or seen the light of day outside of the armory till I got it.

You simply cant DAILY DRIVE, a 66 year old car. They wont tolerate it, and cant take it. And if you've never driven cars this old, you'll be if for a rude awakening if you do. They drive NOTHING LIKE MODERN CARS. And that's not a positive. In fact they drive very differently from cars even from the mid 60s. My 58 Cadillac is in excellent condition, lifelong southern California car, my parents bought it in 1960. I would never daily drive it, nor would I want to. I remember when it was the family car. And was a daily driver. We used to drive it from southern California to Missouri every summer for about 5 years in the early 60s. Theres no way she could make a journey like that again!. She's great for around town, and an occasional 60 or 70 mile trip, she is for fun, car shows, etc. And of course sentimental value. Not many people at 61 years of age like me, can run around in a car their parents bought when they were just 1 year old!! Lol.

@@johnfranklin5277 oh sorry, i didnt saw that comment, so im responding 2 month later, my bad. And though I completly get what you mean, I must respectfully disagree, my mate daily drives a 2cv, (a french car that is bascially a can with wheels with an aircooled 2 cilinder boxer engine that makes 30hp, car barely reaches 60mph) another mate of mine daily drives a 6 cylinder ford falcon, and I drive an 81 citroën cx athena, granted its not the same as a new car, none of them are, you gotta take a lot of care of the car, and its almos esential to know a little about how to fix any problem. But we overlook that, because there is some sort of enjoyment I dont get in a new car, a sense of personality, of history, a conection to the machine you dont feel in new cars, yeah they give some more troubles, they are less confortable, but they give unique experiences, unique friendships, and make you enjoy the driving more.

There is no reason a very old car cannot be driven regularly. My daily is 30 years old with 400,000 miles on the clock. There is one couple who regularly drive around town in a 1912 Ford Model T. It does not see the highway because top speed is about 35 mph, but they add about 5,000 miles a year on the old girl.

I'm not a huge fan of patina. I would rather spend the time to repaint. Way back when I was about 12, somewhere around 1966, My dad had me and my brother strip a car very similar to this. It was a faded red. It was also a hemi. We didn't have a clue what that meant. If we did, we would have kept the engine.

I've been meaning to try a product on my older car with peeling clearcoat that I used on my old 1977 vintage fiberglass boat. It's called Poly Glow. It goes on easily and lasts a goodly long time even under extreme conditions. Ours would last more than a year on our boat which at 37 feet was too big to haul and cover for the winter. www.poliglowproducts.com/#/

Everytime I reach for secret special formula products like this I look at the price tag, scratch my head, then look at the 4 dollar price tag of BLO. If I had clearcoat, however, I be less reserved about spending money...

Another use for the linseed oil is if you've got a newer vehicle with the black plastic or fiberglass "trim " like the Avalanche trucks. Use the boiled linseed on that trim and it will come out black. Not that puky whiteish color.
