      Started my project truck for the first time yesterday. Dumped some fire maker down the drink and couldn't help but say that.
      She backfired like a shotgun blast but hey she fired!

      @Dave Wray it’s a 1962 Ford F100 with a 292 Y-block and a 2barrel holly carb. Turned out I had the timing wrong and that’s why it backfired.

    • @kalgrandy2101
      @kalgrandy2101 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And by timing I meant the camshaft timing. I was lucky enough to have not shot a valve through a piston. Im getting into my second project now. A 92’ Firebird and it’s going great. Love watching vgg for motivation and for new ways to yell at my car haha. Cheers mate.

    Hey @vicegripgarage I have to tell you that you have opened my eyes to a whole different out look on vintage/classic/antique cars... I'm a huge classic car guy and I was 1 of those dummies that only looked for 2 door models if a 4dr model shower up, my first thought was YUK. My next issue was when I found a 2 door thst I liked I'd immediately work on getting the car painted and just go crazy on it. Viewing your channel the last few weeks.... you have given me this huge inspiration that even the 4 doors are gorgeous and I don't have to go nuts with paint I can just get her running and give her a nice little bubble bath and she will look great with that I'm an old lady patina so I must say Thank You man. you have opened my eyes to the fact that these cars are all going away and they don't have to look brand new to be appreciated!! If I think of all the 4 door models I passed up on, I should be dipped in cow Manure... So thank you Sir!!!!! I have a feeling my collection is about to get way bigger! P.S. if you get a message from my old lady just ignore it. Shes believes in you can only drive 1 car at a time, so no need to have so many.... so Thanks Again and keep saving these beauties!

    • @johnfranklin5277
      @johnfranklin5277 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You simply cant DAILY DRIVE, a 66 year old car. They wont tolerate it, and cant take it. And if you've never driven cars this old, you'll be if for a rude awakening if you do. They drive NOTHING LIKE MODERN CARS. And that's not a positive. In fact they drive very differently from cars even from the mid 60s. My 58 Cadillac is in excellent condition, lifelong southern California car, my parents bought it in 1960. I would never daily drive it, nor would I want to. I remember when it was the family car. And was a daily driver. We used to drive it from southern California to Missouri every summer for about 5 years in the early 60s. Theres no way she could make a journey like that again!. She's great for around town, and an occasional 60 or 70 mile trip, she is for fun, car shows, etc. And of course sentimental value. Not many people at 61 years of age like me, can run around in a car their parents bought when they were just 1 year old!! Lol.

      @@johnfranklin5277 oh sorry, i didnt saw that comment, so im responding 2 month later, my bad. And though I completly get what you mean, I must respectfully disagree, my mate daily drives a 2cv, (a french car that is bascially a can with wheels with an aircooled 2 cilinder boxer engine that makes 30hp, car barely reaches 60mph) another mate of mine daily drives a 6 cylinder ford falcon, and I drive an 81 citroën cx athena, granted its not the same as a new car, none of them are, you gotta take a lot of care of the car, and its almos esential to know a little about how to fix any problem. But we overlook that, because there is some sort of enjoyment I dont get in a new car, a sense of personality, of history, a conection to the machine you dont feel in new cars, yeah they give some more troubles, they are less confortable, but they give unique experiences, unique friendships, and make you enjoy the driving more.

    • @michaeltutty1540
      @michaeltutty1540 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no reason a very old car cannot be driven regularly. My daily is 30 years old with 400,000 miles on the clock. There is one couple who regularly drive around town in a 1912 Ford Model T. It does not see the highway because top speed is about 35 mph, but they add about 5,000 miles a year on the old girl.

    Mr Grip, I have long held a desire to purchase a classic car and have an expert restore it for me. Sadly desire alone doth not cut the mustard and I lack the funds to get my dream underway. Imagine my excitement when I saw your videos, finally I can see a solution to my cashflow problems. I could commission YOU to undertake the work, why I expect if I settle for one of your "That'll do" jobs, I could set a very affordable budget of, let's say $500 and get some of your best work. I can envision you saying "That will do", as I type. Of course I wouldn't need the car to last for ever, hardly a need for that, as I expect I'll end up in prison the first time I drive it anyway. God bless Mr Grip and keep up the bad work, your an inspiration to us all.

    The chrome on that car is beautiful! My favorite series of videos you have done so far. I feel a strange connection to that car, kinda like my kin folk that have passed on now may have owned one. My Grandpa that passed in 72 always drove a Dodge. That would have been a Cadillac to them
    He was a painter and worked for every nickel he got and maw maw sewed and made clothes and dresses and such for folks. Wish I had the last truck I remember him having when I was a kid. Back in the day the Mopars seemed to be cheaper and kinda for poor folks that couldn't afford the nice new Chevy's. Nowadays thanks to you, that old Dodge is getting the respect it deserves.I have three vehicles in the driveway and one in a building and I'd trade three of em for that car. I'd trade them all except I have to have one to get to work😂. Thanks for doing what you do to preserve the old stuff. God Bless you Sir! Your videos are so much better than the news😊🇺🇸!

    Just started watching your videos, there great , usually i lose intrest in some of the guy's videos, but i really enjoy your attitude, more down to earth. I don't want to watch some 35 year old guy with 5 earings and making hand gestures like he's still in high school. Thanks for the video enjoyed it.
