    I love that you have reviewed the pixel 3a when you opened it, 3 days later, a week later + a whole month later. Its great to see you talk about general usability, sometimes reviewers just look at the hardware and specs but don't really talk about daily use. I'm very tempted to get this phone. Keep up the great reviews man!

      @@origamifox5180 Yet plastic takes a long time to degrade, hundreds of years, being dumped in landfill and the seas. Just traded my iPhone X in for the Pixel 3aXL. I am blown away by the phone. I have gone through several flagship phones and their issues and i have found a line that i enjoy even more. I mainly got mine to promote companies to coming back into the "mid-range" market space. I don't want to pay more for a phone than i did for my car!

      “I don’t want to pay more for a phone than I did for my car!”
      I love this! And it’s so true. The world has always been a place where people want things that are excessive just so they have the latest and greatest. However, today people who cannot afford to do so, who do not want to, and who are looking for something that will simply accomplish their daily tasks are practically being forced to pull loans on devices more expensive than their car, computer, electric, internet, or even groceries. This is ridiculous! I am thankful that there have been a few companies that have tried to expand the “mid-range” and true “budget” area of phones such as Motorola with their G series, Nokia, and OnePlus. But I am so happy to see that Google has entered the game with one huge leaping success. I am currently running the iPhone SE and leaning towards upgrading to the 3a, but may wait to see what Google has in store for future. And maybe Apple will consider making a SE2 and putting an actual budget price on it.

    I've been using the Pixel 3a xl for a while now and I love it! I switched from the Galaxy s9 plus and honestly I have very little complaints and those complaints I do have don't bother me to much because I only payed $280 for this phone, and I still wouldn't complaints if I payed the full price because it's only $475. The camera is great! The battery life is great! The screen is still quite good. I personally can hardly tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p on this small of a screen. this device is the polar opposite of the 7pro. those who just want the camera and aren't that concerned with the other stuff its a great device. with the 7pro, those who want the other stuff to be great and don't care about the camera it's a great device.

    Yeah i dont mind a little bezel, nor a flat screen. I still can't forgive the edges of the samsung s10. It just requires you to use it with a little more thought. Another factor that makes phones more comfortable to use is a non-curved screen. I use a S10+ without any problems, but I'm 6"1 and have large hands. My girlfriend tried both the S10+ and the S10e and the flat screen made all the difference in usability for her (besides the smaller size, of course).

    Mark, It's nice to hear a reviewer talk positively about polycarbonate backed phones. Common sense tells us that it should be the material used on the back of our cell phones. They are mobile devices that get bumped and dropped and there is absolutely no reason glass should be used. This phone proves that plastic looks as good and feels as good as glass. It is infinitely more durable, it's lighter and also works with wireless charging. As far as the bezels go, I end up using my 3a far more than my S10e because it is far more comfortable to hold and use. I constantly get accidental touches on my S10e as I did with my Note 8 which is why I didn't buy a N9 and why I won't buy a N10. Keep up the good work!

    About the bezels: I have the pixel 2 and I love the big bezels. Small bezels/bezel-less are super overrated. My screen doesn't have any hole punches in it or weird notches, and I can actually grip the phone when watching fullscreen.

    • @josharntt
      @josharntt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Pixel 3, I honestly haven't noticed a single usability difference with the bezel size from my Pixel XL. This screen is technically smaller though, it would probably be more apparent if I switched from a small Pixel. I love the speakers though, I much prefer a few milimeters more bezel with front facing speaker than small bezels.

    A ‘quick hack’ of sorts (I like to call it that) is to use the 12w adapter from the iPads when charging an iphone. Even when I had my 7 plus, it charged significantly faster. And if you don’t own an iPad, the adapter sells separately for like $20. But for many phones, I’ve begun to steer clear of ‘fast charging’, since it cycles the battery faster and you lose overall lifespan. On my iPhone XS, I regularly fast charged it and it lost 8% total capacity in just 6 months, and I’m not what you’d call a power user. But if you’re one of those people that get a new phone every year, I guess it doesn’t really matter 😅

    Finally a reviewer who sees past the pure marketing hype where up is down and down is up.
    - Plastic is better than glass because it is both lighter and more durable; *two qualities small portable devices should strive for*
    - Bezels are a good thing because they make devices easier to use
    - Mid range chip + 4 GB RAM is perfect for non-gamers or casual gamers, especially when running pure Android
    - Headphone jack should be included for versatility
