    Thanks Lauren! I recently started prackticing guitar, and bought a shoulderstrap...but found myself struggling with the right ajustment. I had no clue were to go with it😁! I immediately tried again after watching your video. And guess what...magic😀!! Much better for my shoulder and back!

    I also play bluegrass banjo, a Gold Tone BG-250F and you need strap with it, it weighs 15 lb's mostly from the heavy metal tone ring common to blue grass resonator style banjo's. The open back ones are ok they're fairly light. Any BG banjo player will understand why they chose to use one as a weapon in Zombie Land.

    One other thing to consider. Don't have your guitar too high up either. I remember when I first attached my strap my guitar was almost up to my chest and that put my hand in a very awkward position when I tried to play. Fortunately I had an adjustable strap so I was able to get it down a bit. It has to be just right. I agree with your method.

    I got a luthier to put straploks on my acoustics, it may seem a tad excessive but it's easy to swap straps between them and I trust the instrument won't fall to the ground. I especially don't like the jack/strap combo as it's often too shallow for thicker leather straps as well.

  • @elusiveeskimo3013
    @elusiveeskimo3013 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Another option for those that don't want to put screws into their Acoustic Guitars is to us a Classical Guitar Strap. It is a neck strap that extends below the guitar, which you bring up the front of the guitar when it's in playing position and clip to the lower part of the sound hole opening. No need to put extra holes/screws into you guitar. The tradeoff is that your neck, rather then you shoulder, then carries the weight of the guitar. Most Classical Guitars don't have the extra inside wood bracing where the bottom strap button is on other guitars, could suffer major damage if a strap button is placed there. If you're not sure what your guitar is, can handle, ask your teacher or local guitar shop for advice.

    Brilliant tip for acoustic guitar players; o boy, I must get that strap for once! I remember, in old pictures, one sees the guitarists once used - table! - as a support or playing! But a strap is ways easier to carry around :)

    Hi Lauren. Another great video. Finally bought a guitar strap. The strap I bought at one end is fairly narrow for about a foot, and the other end is about 3 inches thick from the start. My guitar has the button placement like your guitar. Soooo 🙈 which end does the narrow part go. I should have asked this question at the guitar store. So much less embarrassing on social media 🙈 😀

      @@LaurenBateman It is so important because unpracticed about 10 String Instruments like various guitars, Ukulele or Mandoline and Guitar Banjos. And use different, mostly very good straps. But with few cheaper ones I face a problem. If they touch my skin where I have a little beard it causes a short pain because the strap is not plain enough or little bit too rough. That is a bad experience with such short painful moments. But try tonging a solution and cover those rough parts which touch parts of my left throat. As German could not describe it better von English words. May be you as an female person do not have that problem. But I am not sure if it would cause those kind of pain even without little beard hairs. But most straps do not cause me that short pain moments. But cover now the throat with a little leather or cloth part. Greetings from Frankfurt, Germany.

    Hi I would like to ask you some questions ..I’ve been playing guitar for 45 years when I play my electric guitar standing up I never had any issues Like I’m encountering now.. I lead worship at a church and when I stand up with my acoustic guitar several things are happening. The first thing is my acoustic guitar leans forward when I stand up and I’m using my strumming hand to hold the body of the guitar closer to my body and I’m getting these indentations in my forearm that are very painful.. The next thing is when I let go of the guitar and just have it hanging there I noticed that the neck Falls towards the ground so it doesn’t stay in the position like you were showing when you stood up.. I’ve tried two different straps and it doesn’t seem to fix the issue so what would you suggest? I have two guitars that I use one as a Taylor builders edition and the other one is a Martin Guitar.. Thank you in advance

      Yeah, a good leather strap or one with padding can help

      @@LaurenBateman ..something strange happened to me. I'm 72. I go out for a walk in the evenings for exercise, always trying to get a mile in. One evening I found a beautiful electric guitar on the trash! Several weeks later, I found a small amplifier called Peavey Rage. It was a bit dirty, but worked when I plugged the guitar into it. Since then, I can't put the silly guitar down! My fingers can't do all those chords I find on the FENDER app...and worse with the "Barr" chords...but I still am not discouraged....how strange. Did I mention I'm 72?
