When he said his middle finger was bad and that his pinky was the best i thought he was trolling, i legit thought everyone has their ring and pinky finger move together like mine😂
I’ve just started learning bass a few weeks ago. This was very helpful as getting my left hand to do anything is a pain. Middle finger is a little tight but my pinky was the worst. Will be using this exercise a lot!
when I started playing the bass, I taped my middle finger with the index finger (making them "one", sort of), in order to practice my ring finger to work properly...so with all honesty, I can play this reverse spider walk with decent speed.
Just subbed this morning after learning Pink + White and realized how shit I was with my hand positions, it’s late at night now and just scrolling TH-cam I see this! Thanksss
My biggest issue is my pinky, it's not the weakest, it's pretty even with the rest. But it's naturally very turned in which makes it very difficult to hold a fret right without doing a micro shift.
Hope it's useful! I have limited space for 1-2-1 Lessons here calendly.com/tom-w9a/one-hour-bass-lesson One really important thing with thumb position on the fretting hand, as it is the main cause for injuries. You can keep it somewhere around where the middle finger or index finger is, but make sure that is comfortable and not causing you any pain. If you need to Printable TABS and Guitar Pro Files are available here tomjohns.gumroad.com/l/zukxv
Is there any way I can compensate for my torn tendon on my pinky finger? I still want to learn but I just don’t have a lot of pressure. I won’t give up, enjoy your videos
My ring finger seems to be the one that is the weakest, and the hardest to control. I’ve been doing the scale walking exercises by alternating my fingering position ie. 1-2-3-4 to 1-3-4-2 etc. to try strengthening my fingers. Do you think this’ a helpful exercise to do? I just came across your channel. Thanks for your tutorial video. 👍🏾

Thanks so much Johnathan! I really appreciate that kind of feedback. TH-cam is such a grind, so hearing positivity like yours really motivates me.
