This concert was released as a live double album called S&M back in the day. This whole show had reimagined arrangements of all your favorite songs.
" The soothing light at the end of your tunnel is just a freight train coming your way." Great lyrics
Metallica being terrifying since 1981
I use that saying all the time.
"Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, Was just a freight train coming your way, yeah"
@@BROU-bb2ucas do I. Many wise individuals AWAKEN others with that analogy alone.
Being from Irish and Gaelic heritage, it was a saying used in our household normally.
Anxiety in a nutshell for me
"And it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel....was just a freight train coming your way"....who among us has not felt the sting of something that seemed great for us, relaxing, or something we really wanted only to find that it was going to smash or destroy us. I remember when this song came out. I had just gone through this very experience. Being heartbroken and beaten down, I found it weird to be empathizing with a Metallica song. But there it was. Almost felt like they wrote the song for me.
This has to be my absolute favorite song from them.
I agree with you dear Floor Jensen.
The orchestra understood the assignment
Man, they always bring the wood and slap but they fused with the orchestra seamlessly here. That whole show deserves a reaction! No surprise, legends and they are always in my rotation. Try Wherever I May Roam for more Metallica greatness. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
They've reacted to Wherever I may roam in the past. They loved it of course!
buy the S&M double CD or watch the concert...they are both awesome. This was a great song from it, but to hear all their classic songs with an orchestra was amazing. Great job you two!
Un gran trabajo y muy bien mezclados los dos estilos musicales, sinceramente es una obra de arte en toda regla, saludos
Oh man, the entire SM concert that this version comes from was simply incredible!!
'Fuel' & 'Memory Remains' from this show with the orchestra are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My favorite ones are Call Of Ktulu, The Thing That Should Not Be, Bleeding Me, Of Wolf and Man, Wherever I May Roam and Until It Sleeps
@@makaveli8809 God the way that James sounds like such an evil psychopath in "The Thing That Should Not Be" is terrifyingly gorgeous!
The whole entirety of S&M is just phenomenal … one of my fave music docs
You would love the full S&M concert. Also check out some of their instrumentals. "The Call Of Ktulu", "Orion" & "To Live Is To Die" are all brilliant.
I saw this live at S&M 2. This song kicks so much as the orchestra just takes it to another level. 🤘
A great pump up song by Metallica is “Fuel”…. It will get your heart racing and fist pumping.
Or a speeding ticket
This is the BEST OF for Metallica for most fans, Everything on this album is Perfect.
I absolutely loved when Metallica did their concert with the Symphony/Orchestra. I was a band geek back in Junior High/High school and I appreciate Classical Music. I think that there’s a lot of Heavy Metal-Hard Rock music and musicians that definitely are influenced by great artists like Mozart, Bach, etc.
One of the GOATS would be Eddie Van Halen.
I would love to see y’all text to Metallica’s Bleeding Me or Outlaw Torn (with the Orchestra). 🤘🏽
I'm pretty sure Jimi Hendrix was influenced by classical too. Randy Rhodes was. Steve Vai I'm sure is. Many of the great guitarists definitely are. Kirk Hammett I know is too
One of the most lovers of classical music was the organ player Jon Lord of Deep Purple. He was one of the first rock musicians experimenting heavy with orchestra, search for his "Sarabande" ( made together with composer/conductor Eberhard Schoener)
But also some early Purple falls into this category - 'April' is such a great piece.
Original bass player Cliff Burton studied classical music, he would've loved doing this concert had he not been taken away from the world
@@vinniedixon1140 Oh yes he did too. Yeah if had been alive and been apart of this this would have been even more amazing. Jason Newsted did great but Cliff Burton would have taken it to another level. I'd love to see what Rob Trujillo would do with it
This song makes my heart race, but in a good way, and the cherry on top is the mystical feeling you get 😊
This is one of my favorite songs from this album, along with -Human!!!
Been waiting for more Metallica!!
This is the song that turned me onto Metallica. ❤
This entire performance was a masterpiece. I was there and I can’t explain how we all felt. When that oboe comes in…..
I was a senior in his when the first S&M concert aired on VH1. I was, and still am, a lifelong Metallica fan. From the very first note of this concert it was absolutely mindblowing.
This is a perfect Metallica song 👊😎
This is my favorite song from this album. The whole performance is a masterpiece! I’ve seen Metallica many times but nothing compares to this. Nothing!
Musicalmente es una obra de arte, te guste o no el estilo, está perfectamente unida y eso de por si ya es todo un logro, me encanta, saludos
The Day That Never Comes has kick ass drums and riffs.....👍
Maestro Michael Kamen composed the scores for the likes of Highlander, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Disney's The Three Musketeers, X-Men, etc....
It's one of my favorite Metallica songs
Metallica with the San Francisco symphony is beyond epic. You guys would love the entire S&M album. It's a whole album of their classic songs and 3 new songs written for that album
My number 1 favorite metal band since 1986 when I discovered them.
‘Bleeding Me’ from this exact concert is a must listen
So is the outlaw torn
That orchestra just raises this song to another level.
Metallica delivers such great shows
🤘🤘🤘 Metallicaaa!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘 Hands down one of my most favorite bands to see in concert since the beginning of time
A big thanks to Micheal Kamen, orchestra director here, died only 2 years after this performance (R.I.P.), he was a giant in this things. I remember he when direct the famous concert in Berlin a year after the wall falling down, "THE WALL LIVE IN BERLIN" the name of this concert . I saw this concert live on tv...... was EPIC.
Oh yeeahh! Another of my suggestions made❤! I love Metallica and all this concert is incredible! Please do more and more Metallica! ...And Justice for All, Unforgiven II and III!!! You won't regret!
Awesome. Whole S&M album is 🔥
Yaaasss!!! I am so glad you got around to this. Definitely epic.
Great choice! This album was so groundbreaking for them, very bold. There is a whole genre now called "symphonic metal", which includes Nightwish and Within Temptation.
The symphonic version of "For Whom The Bell Tolls" from this album is great too.
Within Tempation is AMAZING!!! love love them
#OnePride (Detroit Lions) fan here who found your channel a long time ago back in the Rainbow Studio days and am so glad you’re watching this!
🦁 🦁 🦁 one pride!
Love this song .. One I recommend .. Hero of the Day.. I think you 2 would love it just as much as this one. Much love !
I’m in the minority but, this is my favorite Metallica song.
It's a great song.
This is absolutely my favorite. Coming up on a double lung transplant surgery. Either it works great, or ...it's all over.
This was an amazing collaboration and album I feel like these songs they chose for this felt like that’s how they wanted to sound but they weren’t known and or big enough to collaborate with the San Francisco symphony. Simply amazing album I’m with you buddy 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I’d love to hear some Joe Walsh.
Is anyone with me?
this off there S and M live album its amazing so many of there songs fit with an orchestra
I've suggested this one for a while. Thank you for the reaction. If you like this you should try Apocalyptica (the band). They are a Finnish symphonic metal band. They started out playing Metalica songs on cellos. That was what their early albums were. They broke out in 2007 with their album Worlds Collide when then started pairing with lead singers from other bands (they don't have a lead singer in the band). They've had vocalists like:
Lzzy Hale from Halestorm - Talk to Me
Corey Taylor from Slipknot - I'm Not Jesus
Adam Grontier from Three Days Grace - I Don't Care
Brent Smith from Shinedown - Not Strong Enough
Gavin Rossdale from Bush - End of Me
Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf - Broken Pieces
Also, from this same performance, Metallica S&M, "Devils Dance". That song was awesome!
This gives me such TSO vibes. Classical mixed with metal. Absolutely love it.
This is a great version with the symphony! The album of this concert is awesome!
This is probably the best song that came out of the orchestra collaboration. Other up tempo songs like “Fuel” felt slowed down, but this show was classic. It’s been awesome watching Amber’s heavy metal journey.
Bleeding me and outlaw torn were also amazing
Thank you guys
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way :D
Gotta have some Metallica!!!
This album was awesome. Performing all their hits live with the symphony.
Our group of friends (5 couples) and their young kids (8-12 yrs old) rented a big house in Outer Banks. Huge home theater. We fried the sound system on day one watching the DVD of this show.
One of the best bands ever
For whom the bell tolls on this album is probably their greatest live performance.
The S&M album didn’t get a lot of love, but the melding of rock and classical is a perfect mix. You gotta check out more of it!
A few years ago the wife and I drove 3 hrs. to San Fran and saw S&M 2 on a Friday night, flew to Vegas Sat. morning and saw Def Leppard Sat. night. Awesome weekend.
Amazing performance!
🖤Love Metallica!
The S&M album is AMAZING!!!!!
Outstanding.
With you guys reviewing so much Metallica, I wanted to suggest that you next do one of their songs with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. It was released as a dvd called Metallica S&M. Seeing as you both love orchestra's when their included into songs, I thought this would be a nice way to view your next Metallica song. My recommendation would be either “Master of Puppets” which was recently made popular again from the NETFLIX series Stranger Things or their song called “Battery”. Either of these are older classics. Another great Metallica song you guys should review is "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)".
💯! Master and Battery are effing AMAZING from S&M
This is a song from S&M
She just vibin to the song ❤
Jay & Amber, you'd love Robert Cray's “Strong Persuader"!!! An outstanding singer/guitarist up there with BB King and SRV!!
Y’all loved his “Smoking Gun”!!! He did an album, ‘Showdown’, with Blues greats Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland!!
They are awesome with SFO, the album and movie both rock!
This concert was primo!👌No Leaf Clover is one of my faves from it & I believe they debuted it at this concert. Michael Kamen, the conductor, was a genius. He wrote the orchestral music for each track to accomodate the orchestra, & as you can hear, the sound was absolutely phenomenal!
My dad was a high school music teacher and band director it’s harder than you think 😀
This was the greatest Metallica concert I'd ever been to hearing Master of puppets with the San Francisco orchestra was like I entered heaven and I remember hearing the original version in 1986 I was 11 lol but this is the high point of the Metallica concerts I've been to
They have a orchestral opening every single show they do. Cool you said that. Check out some full live videos people post when you get a chance.
"There they are!" 💚🤙
Great reaction to a great song. I would suggest Master of Puppets for another day. Great song that I believe you two will love. Love your videos. Very positive and entertaining.
I prefer Master of Muppets! Jim Henson is an evil dude. I mean have you seen the Wilkins coffee commercials? No mercy
this bands early music fits with this classical vibe with horns and flutes and standup bass some of their earlier albums did have some nice progressive elements and their are perhaps 3-4 songs off load and reload that would fit nicely take bleeding me the outlaw torn and reload low man's lyric
One of my favorite songs
This is my FAVORITE song, from one of my favorite bands.
The S&M (symphony & Metallica) album is absolutely impeccable and this was composed specifically for this collaboration. Unfortunately this song doesn’t get as much play because it’s hard to do it justice live (backing track instead of touring with a full symphony).
Love love love the way the music follows the emotion and the feel of impending train come through.
only metallica would do something like this. Rock legends for sure!
This is my favorite Metallica song!✌️😊🔥
My fave track from S&M. Love it!
KISS did a concert to with a Symphony. Was so cool too!!! Metallica ROCK'S
Love your reactions to the mighty Metallica! I started listening to them 26 years ago and was hooked from day 1. Seen them 9 times in concert and am lucky enough to have half a dozen guitar picks and a drumstick Lars handed to me at home. I once heard this song without the orchestra, it was weird but still awesome. Keep up the fine work! Cheers from Hart, MI!
Been waiting so long for you guys to check this one out!
Love you guys, and your music reactions!! Never stop :D
I love this. The orchestra fills it out beautifully
No Leaf Clover is one of my top three favorite Metallica songs.....maybe even higher. Love this one! Glad you reacted to it. Hope you do more Metallica soon.
Echo: “Wherever I May Roam”. Workout song?! You mean Workouts!!
Awesome song from Metallica! Please do more Metallica especially “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” or some songs from their Load and Reload album.
The S&M albums are my favorite!! You should do Hero of the day next!
Still gives me goosebumps. But I would love to hear it for the first time again 😊 you guys are lucky!
I know yall went and listened to this whole album 😁❤️🔥
They do actually take the stage to The Ecstasy of Gold. Give it a listen. Def sets the mood.
The first S&M album/DVD is so good. Check out "Outlaw Torn" from this with the orchestra!
Absolutely love Metallica! Got to see them in concert twice!
So legendary, great sounds vocally and orchestrally. Good song. Everything worked out great. Nice request guys!
Without this channnel you two never know Metallica!!!!!
If you havent already, you should check out "I disappear" and many of the other songs from the Load,Reload era
I love when James sings that word “comes” which James sings in a high note and sounds off key. It reminds me of Peter Brady of the Brady Bunch, when his voice is changing, as he becomes a teen. They have to sing a song, so they have him sing a word as his voice is changing. Who remembers that episode?
I love that Amber loves Metallica! 🤘
The S&M Metallic songs are amazing. Please do some other ones! Love you guys and your beautiful family all the way from Knoxville TN
Back then, we definitely weren´t ready for that, Metallica completely blew us with that song.
When I die, this song goes with me.
Have got my tickets to when metallica plays in Copenhagen Denmark
S&M Metallica is so awesome. i wore this CD out. had to buy 2. you should check out all the tracks on this one, Puppets, One, Hero of the Day so many of them worked well with the symphony
I love that whole concert man I've been saying
