That is 60 year old Kirk, James 59 and Lars and Robert 58. Slayer has called it quits but Megadeath and Anthrax are still going strong at this age too. To still be able to play that fast is insane to me. Iron Maiden members in there middle 60s and Nikko 70. Metal is the fountain of youth.
I say the same thing about rock and roll look at the rolling Stones damn near in their 80s 90s still rocking out
Just recently Jerry Lee Lewis died like in his late 90s and that's from back in the formations of rock

Yeah, that pretty much captures how it felt in 1983 the first time you put "Hit the Lights" on the turntable.
"It's Metallica" they never hold back", loved that reaction with her hands at her forehead..I love it..
Personally I think this song is a very well crafted tribute to their old mentors, like Judas Priest and Motorhead: it's easy to detect some similarities with songs like "Overkill" and "Rapid Fire", but they were able to elaborate these former ingredients and mix them with their own style. In addition to this I would like to underline the high quality of both mixing and production, the sound is astounding.
Also, this song absolutely rips and I hope the whole album follows suit.

I’ve been listening to Metallica since 1988…and justice for all album…thought this new song was just ok….then listened to it 3 or 4 times now…it’s growing on me…can’t wait to hear the new album!!

Being a teen in the 80s, I never considered that one of my favorite thrash metal bands would still be rockin when I reached my 50s. This song brings back some Kill Em All vibes.

In the song “hit the lights” off their debut album in 1983, kill ‘‘em all, the final verse lyrics are “we’ll never stop, we’ll never quit ‘cause we’re Metallica!” They are LIVING those lyrics and I LOVE it! They’ll be thrashing thru their 60 and on into their 70s I bet!

An instant classic. Sounds like Metallica to the core.
James said full speed or nothing late in the song which sums up their 41-year career to this point. Many of us are getting up there in years a bit but nobody is ever too old to rock or go full speed at whatever it is you are chasing...great reaction as always from RSR...Amber always looks for the depth in their lyrics and Jay just enjoys the Metallica energy, so they certainly make a great reaction team, and I am sure a great life team as well!!
And they are in their 60s, that's what is the craziest.
This song is really good. I've already got my tickets to their show here in Phoenix next September. My best friends are flying out from California for this show and we're taking my 12 year old twins to their first concert! This will be my 6th time seeing them live and I'm stoked!

I believe this is the first song from 2022 that you've reacted to. Great choice!! I would also recommend "Rock Believer" by Scorpions, also from this year. They haven't lost a beat in 50 years!

You've got to try Sabaton - Christmas truce. Probably the best modern day Christmas song about the spontaneous truce that broke out in world war I between German and English forces.
Agreed that this is a worthwhile song but Sabaton has a ridiculous catalogue of awesome music. In fact, a fell album reaction of their last Album The War To End All Wars (History Edition) is the best away to appreciate the wholistic greatness that it is.

I agree with that. Ofcourse the production is a bit cleaner (at least the vocals), but hey we are a few decades further.. but this is the Metallica I like :)

I can't wait to hear all of 72 Seasons when it comes out April 14th. I brought my tickets to the Dallas stadium in August. In my family I know of three different generations listening to Metallica. My brother and I and have been a fans since 1986, my uncle in his 70's, my niece who's in her 30's and now her kids.

I thought this was something from their 80's catalogue that I hadn't heard. I'm not a huge fan of them, but this blows most new music out of the water.

Love this song, It's brand new, it's fresh, This will be their first album since 2016's Hardwired To Self Destruct. A few days ago it popped up on Tidal and I was like "I'm Gonna Give This A Quick Listen" and when I finished the song I was like "That Was Straight FIRE!" I think it's safe to say that 40 years later Metallica still has it!
To me, it kind of sounds like a spiritual successor to "Hit The Lights."
This is rocking for sure, but after listening to these guys for almost 40 years, I still say Creeping Death is my favorite. Love you guys!
Without a doubt this is Metallica going back in time and revisiting their early days as pioneers of the Speed Metal genre. I agree with all the other comments about checking out stuff from Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning. Kirk still being able to shred like that at 60 years young blows my mind. Awesome song and great review.

If you haven't heard it yet, you need to watch the official video for Metallica's "Spit Out the Bone" - they go INSANELY fast. It was like a return to their Master of Puppets roots. That song is on their previous album from 2016 "Hardwired...to Self Destruct".

I grew up with Metallica since middle school back in the 80s. They were the reason why I was a rocker in high school. My husband saw them open for Ozzy at one of their first performances. They still have it!

This is awfully surprising such a new song. This song has been blowing up every where. Personally I liked the song so much I immediately picked up my guitar and learned it today.
I just realized which track 'Lux Eterna' resembles - "Got the time" by Anthrax (cover of Joe Jackson) which was released in 1990. The beginning drop before the lyrics is exactly like the Anthrax cover (I knew it was familiar!)

Lmmfao, Mama slid down in the chair and said "I feel like they just melted me" and I told everyone, if you crank this song up on a bad ass stereo system it will melt your face off your head. Then on the bridging the gap, I'm 50yrs old and me and all my friends are going to see Metallica and so is my son and his friends, and a bunch young highschool dudes at my work were saying how they're going to see Metallica. So that's 3 different age groups right there going to see one band who bridged the generations together.
As Americans, Run To The Hills, is a must listen.
