    I bought a passionberry CRZ 1 1/2 years ago. It's the best car I've ever owned. Not one problem. I'm a retired commercial pilot, Used to treating machines with care. Don't care about squealing tires off the line. The CRX was on my bucket list, but unavailable so I bought the CRZ. Folks are constantly turning their heads or walking around it when parked. I wanted it because it is drop dead gorgeous. Plenty of pickup for me. Only 2 seats so I don't have to be giving rides all the time. Super sound system w/subwoofer. cruizin' down the road listening to Pink Floyd. I am comfortably (and happily) numb.

    I went from an S2000 to a crz, I was worried Id be disappointed with the drop in power but the car is amazing, so much fun, comfortable, feels sporty, ya get the "hybrid" treatment, looks so good, I had an eg civic, an ek civic, an eg crx, but the crz is a perfect modern interpretation, I cannot recommend the car enough, I swapped with a friend that had a dc5 Integra for a few days, now he wants to buy one. Its like Ichishima Tatsuru the head of Spoon said "True enthusiasts are looking for fun, not just speed"

    This is a superb and accurate review. I have had this model since 2013. In todays driving environment this car is still phenomenal, if not more so. Tremendous fun and very economical. We have just had a short break in Mid Wales with a total journey of 320 miles. Average of 56mpg. The most underrated car.

      Hi Jorge, I haven't had my CRZ too long but so far I am getting 36.9 mpg (US) I have no complaints, not one. I thought that I might have an issue with he rear view and I find it better than I remembered when I test drove the car. Additionally, the blind spots on the sides are overblown. The drivers mirror has an extension for blind spots but I don't really like it because it is just a sliver of a thing. In any case, I can see without it. The passenger side was really my concern but I find that I can see fine as the mirror is wide. I also find that with the small window and the view out the back allows me to shoulder check and see just fine.

      I went through a lot of emotion when I ordered this car. There was so much negative surrounding it that I thought that maybe I was making a mistake. However, I still followed through because it had everything I wanted- a little sporty and a little of the fuel economy with potential to drive it either way when I wanted. I wanted enough power to be responsive when I needed it and not worrying about if it does 0-60 in 8.8 secs or 7.0 secs. Real driving situations and day to day practicality.
      Anyway, very happy. I hope that helps..

      I think the CR-Z is a beautifully packaged car. I was always a fan of the CRX and I think the spiritual success is a great 'next-step'. People often hate on relatively low power and hybrid cars, because they care so much about paper stats. But the CR-Z (to me) is all about character and it has it in bundles. If I could afford one, I'd seriously consider it... although the FT86 is also similarly priced and would struggle to make my mind up.

      I really like this car because it looks so futuristic and is future oriented. It's hard to find a car this size and this sporty anymore... Most Americans only like people haulers. As I was growing up, cars like the Toyota Celica were dying... It's kind of crazy that a car like this exist with most people not paying attention to it. But I think it's an awesome little car.

      I bought a 9-year old model, and it made its way through its 10th year with no issues. From what I've seen so far, the electronics take care of the battery quite well, keeping the charge levels within a certain range. This is part of the reason the CR-Z is, well, *unfast*, but it makes it a great used car.

    I drive a 2011 Honda CRZ, first car. I always like the comfort of Honda. But then again I have not driven that many cars, but Honda I always found to be very comfortable. The low seat takes getting used to but I cannot complain. I have grown to love it, feels like youre driving a sports car. I average 35 MPG driving from Suburbs to center of Chicago downtown. The three modes, Sport, Normal and Eco are awesome. Sport with friends, Normal for when in a hurry, Eco is used for day-to-day driving. (Work, College) increasing your MPG.Overall I enjoy the Honda CRZ but it just will not satisfy your sport thirst. The car is not very powerful. But it does exactly what Honda wanted, a sporty hybrid.

      I think the CR-Z is probably one of the funnest good mpg cars and it's on the unique side. Some people think it's a sports car. Not sure if you care about any of that stuff. It's also pretty cheap other hybrids cost a bit

    why didnt you talk about the brand new sport+ button? i dont have it on mine and i was curious.

    • @TestDrivenUK
      @TestDrivenUK  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's always a tough call to decide what to include and what to leave out, and we were conscious of the fact our video was 8 minutes long already. More than happy to talk about it now if you'd like: the Sport+ button can be pressed when there's at least a 50% charge in the battery. Once you've pressed the button, an indicator in the dashboard flashes, and when you next press the accelerator (gas pedal) the IMA system deploys full motor assistance for up to 10 seconds. The thinking behind it is that it allows you an extra burst of acceleration, perhaps to overtake a slower moving car, even when you are not in Sport mode. In practice, I didn't find it that useful - if I knew I was about to overtake someone, I'd prefer to switch to Sport mode in advance, so I hardly ever used it. It's certainly not a feature I'd miss if I owned a CR-Z without it. I hope that's of use, but if I can help further, do please ask.

    If they want it to have the success and following that the CRX had, they need to make it more affordable, and lighter. It really doesn't get that great of gas mileage for a hybrid. In comparison, the CRX got close to 50mpg highway.

    • @adamr9444
      @adamr9444 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yes, it may get 46MPG but in comparison, the CRX got the same if not more and it was not a hybrid.

    • @Dr23rippa
      @Dr23rippa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say they need to give an extra 10 cm of legroom in the back. Boost the 0-60mph to 8 seconds make it more fun. But MPG needs to be at 80MPG+ Hybrid or fully electric... Panasonic and LG make good Li Ion cells. For the rear visibility being pretty poor they could put in a Sony Stacked Cmos sensor with 1/2 Sensor with 5mp and have the rear mirror be an actual screen with OLED tech. With a PPI of more than 300 to make it sharp the OLED will keep the refresh rate fast...

    Everyone says my 95 Prelude is too heavy weighing at 2800lbs and this car is 2700lbs, and the CRX was 2300lbs. Sorry but this car needs over 200hp to make anyone want to buy it. It runs 17 flat in the 1/4 which is about 2sec slower than my heavy Prelude. Suddenly my Prelude seams to be light with a 2.3L and 4 disc brakes. Then if I get this car and sell the engine and transmission I'll get about $2K for them. I don''t feel like spending the remanding 18K on air bags and a new body. This car is only worth $12K new. It needs a LSD and a 200hp engine for 20K. I test drove one, and it was a joke.

    • @Ichibuns
      @Ichibuns 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The car isn't a joke if it wasn't meant for you. A review is meant to be unbiased and to show that its practical for some buyers. It's a low cost, fuel saving hybrid. While still maintaining a decently fun car to drive. I'm sorry the car doesn't match your personality. You could just look for a car that matches your own.

    • @Soysaucemoto
      @Soysaucemoto 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      LMAO. Sorry speed racer. But you missed the point of the CRZ. It's a hybrid that doesn't have to be boring like the Prius. You want to talk about power to weight ratio? Get on a motorcycle. My 2011 GSXR600 has 120hp and weighs about 420lbs wet. The Honda CBR600RR is similar. The CBR1000RR is just insane. Switch over to 2 wheels if you're all about speed and 0-60mph times. For motorcycle 0-100mph is what matters since 1st gear on a 600cc supersport can go to 85mph with stock gearing.

    • @sleepwalker29
      @sleepwalker29 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, but I"m a Honda guy, and the CRZ comes with a 2.0 in Japan and a Hybrid in the US. Also everyone knows bikes are for poor people who can't afford to build a fast car, and people like me build fast cars because we can't afford to buy a $300K sports car that matches our cars performance.

    • @Soysaucemoto
      @Soysaucemoto 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe Smartballs Cars are lame bro. I'll be on 2 wheels until I'm no longer able to. Then I'll spend my money building a "fast" car. Only positive cars have over bikes is safety and carrying groceries. You stick to your fast cars and I'll stick to my fast bikes. Have you ever even rode a scooter? Scooters are more fun than cars.

    2018 a TURBO with 280HP! - OH SHIT!
    While more and more automakers are expanding their hybrid platforms, Honda is going against the grain by taking a hybrid model and transforming it to a gasoline-only car.
    Honda has announced that the next generation CR-Z will be running a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Experts are expecting that Honda will use the same 2.0-liter, 280 horsepower VTEC that currently powers the Civic Type-R.
    The car will most likely debut in 2017 as a model for the following year.
    This will be the first time the CR-Z has been a gas-only car - ever since its debut in 2010, the CR-Z has featured a hybrid platform. The 2015 model (pictured above) is running a 1.5-liter gas engine and electric motor with a combined output of 130 horsepower.
    Critics have complained that this powertrain is too weak for a sporty compact. And the coupe’s average 31 mpg is not enough of a fuel savings to justify the car’s watered-down performance.
    Sales have been as lackluster as the car: Honda posted less than 3,600 sales in the U.S. last year for the CR-Z.
    But Honda is betting that a turbocharged inline-four can get the CR-Z back on the right track.
    “The two reasons that forced Honda to phase it out [in Europe and Australia], namely its weak street cred and lack of performance thanks to its ho-hum hybrid power unit, have been addressed.
    “The new coupe will be a force to reckon with,” a Honda source told Car and Driver.
