  • Today, we take a look at the spiritual successor to the infamous Honda CRX. While the original was not a hybrid, it was still very good on gas and a popular vehicle for the tuner crowd. The CRZ is more of a successor in design, as the hybrid powertrain does not allow for much in the way of tuning. That said, the CRZ LOOKS much faster than it is, but still is a cool car!

Just bought a 2015 a month ago with 27,000 miles on it. My first hybrid. Didn’t know the CRZ was a hybrid when I first saw it. Just loved the lines. Took a test drive for about 8 miles and bought it. A month later I love the car, the looks the ride. Can’t think of a con anywhere. Just pros and I get consistently 39-40 mpg combined. Whats not to love?

      @@emm_zr0674 I own a 2010 model. I live in Japan.
In that case, it will use its normal battery and starter motor to start the car. You'll have a normal 1.5 car. Drive a while and it will be charged. Now,if you are talking about the battery completely failing... That's kind unheard of in the CR-Z but,in that case, the cost of replacing wouldn't be worth it. But anyway,it would still be fine to use. It doesn't rely much on the electric system.

Total power output is incorrect that’s the specifications on the 2011-2012 models. 2013+ CRZ’s have 130 Hp & 140 ft/lbs of torque for the manual transmission. For the CVT 130 Hp & 127 ft/lbs of torque. I enjoyed your review on the car, keep up the good work!

They also get a nice 0-60 bump from 9.6 sec to a still slow but quicker 8.8sec lol. You don't buy the CR-Z to go fast though, you get it for something stylish, inexpensive to insure, and decent gas mileage.

@@NeighborhoodCarReviews ----Thanks for the fast reply. I am looking at a 2011 Honda CRZ for $2600 and so am checking the overall ratings on this car. I am surprised that my 1999 Chevy Metro ( Geo Metro) gets way better gas mileage than this Honda. I get 39-41 city 43-47 Hwy,that is the rating for the Metro. Also these Metros have an indestructible interior and are problem free ( knock on wood). If you can find one it is a great little car. I paid $1000 for mine with 95k miles on it.
However this model of Honda looks much better so if research tells me it is as problem free I will probably buy it, or trade my 2005 Harley Sportster with 10k miles, for it if I am able. Even though my Harley is worth about $4k or $4500. I wonder if these batteries hold up in this Honda model. It would be a bad deal if they went bad.
