Thank you for your tips! I'm in my first semester of first year and so nervous for my first placement next semester but this makes me feel more confident. Plus it's great to have Australian nursing content
Love these tips! Thanks Bek :) I also had a nurse on my last prac show me the process after a resident had died... really grateful for that experience and glad I said yes too! That’s what I love about nursing so far - everyone seems so encouraging if you wanna learn more and get involved
Thanks for the tips, they're really helpful especially since I'm going into my second hospital placement next week, also at a hospital in WA. Really appreciate this xx
Great advice and stories Bek. Being mindful of “patient centred care” and the “SOLER” technique, bringing back 1st year memories? 😀 I’m looking forward to my first prac in session 2 💪🏻 I’ll try remembering to load up my pockets with swabs, tape etc and have my own scissors...
I don't know if you'll even see this comment but if you do, I'm worried about taking initiative. Especially on my first placement. What if I try to do obs or something on a patient that I think it needs doing and I get it wrong or take too long, wont that be more of a hindrance? It's not like it'll be my first day as an RN, it'll be my first day in a hospital as a student nurse and I just don't want to stuff up!! But also don't want to be an RN's shadow and annoy them. Once I know what I'm doing I'm sure I can show initiative, but on my first placement or my first day? I don't think so.
Hey bek. Im thinking of choosing Nursing program like BSN, RN. But my high school background is not Science, it's Economics and B.Studies. And my Highschool certificate is not of Australia. Can I still choose/Take Nursing program with these all background?
So if your not following your mentor around will they tell you what they want done? I just don't want to be walking around clueless. Also kinda petrified thinking about having to start my placement in a few months💀💀💀
