Hey there thank you for the video. Could I ask how do we apply for a new hospital after finishing our new grad year ? I feel confused rn...
Will there be enough room on the plane for all of us ? I am concerned we might overload anything smaller than an ocean liner with wings.
Can you intubate without a dr around
Thank you so much Bek! It's really helpful.
I am from Melbourne. All my placements have been rural, loved everyone of them. Planning to go to Central Australia and NT for my 2 months -3rd yr placement. Great video and learning what it is like.
So if you do rural placement the uni pays for everything???
Well done such a great video.
Me right now, in my first week of my surgical placement for 2 weeks! And as a third year also. So nervous as I've never done surgical before and don't know what to do
4:40 thankyou! Preparing medications makes me so clumsy and MIMS is suddenly in Klingon ... started Third Year this month having moved interstate for uni with Covid gaps between last Placement and current Simulation Labs. Also older and feel silly not knowing stuff around younger girls who appear so chillaxed. Your videos will definitely help. Thanks again.
I feel like this is the most thorough walk through for a shift. People who complain about how long they have to wait to be seen or get a bed in a hospital need to watch this! We don't just sit at a desk and ignore your call light because we can't be bothered. There is ALWAYS something to be done and we have more than just one patient to look after.
Longest BP check ever 🤣 you guys are so cute!
I am starting my grad year next month, excited with full on nervous😅. Great video.
Thanks for this! I struggled with feeling okay with enjoying my aged care placement since my group mates hated it and frankly speaking spent the time doing nothing. It is reassuring to find that what you said aligned with my thoughts.
Hi Bec. Thanks for your video, it is so inspiring. What employing status would you recommend for a new grad to start ? 0.8 0.9 to a full-time with a ADO?
My bub is 6mths and I'm about to go on my 6wk medical placement my last placement I'm so nervous 😅
Thank you for this Bek! So helpful!
So if your not following your mentor around will they tell you what they want done? I just don't want to be walking around clueless. Also kinda petrified thinking about having to start my placement in a few months💀💀💀
the stabby-stabbies are called lancets <3
I don't know if you'll even see this comment but if you do, I'm worried about taking initiative. Especially on my first placement. What if I try to do obs or something on a patient that I think it needs doing and I get it wrong or take too long, wont that be more of a hindrance? It's not like it'll be my first day as an RN, it'll be my first day in a hospital as a student nurse and I just don't want to stuff up!! But also don't want to be an RN's shadow and annoy them. Once I know what I'm doing I'm sure I can show initiative, but on my first placement or my first day? I don't think so.
I've watched a few of your videos now as I'm starting my Bachelor of Nursing in 2 weeks here on the Sunshine Coast! Thanks for the tips! So happy to find a fellow aussie vlogging about nursing and study! 💜 I've already got myself a pair of leather Hush Puppies sneakers, my friend is finishing up her Midwifery degree this year and she told me about needing comfy/water resistant shoes!! Keep up the great videos!
I had a bitch AIN on my placement as well which I told my CNF. My CNF did what she has to do but then the next day, that bitch got worse and like upfront bitching me. She got so aggressive verbally but I just ignore her as if she doesn’t exist coz I was there for a placement and not being paid to be bullied. I agree with you, just ignore them and go along with your placement and think that it’s just temporary. Unless you’re trying to apply in that institution. 😅
Love this! I'm in year 9 and I'm considering doing into the RFDS after school so this was really helpful! ♥️
You are soo cute sissy💗🤗🤗😊 and sounds so much hardworking .
this is such a good video thank you so much!!!
Although it was a video 3 years ago, it's still a big inspiration for me now. Thanks for your videos on Australian nurses. You really give me a lot of power and advices on clinical nursing. ❤️❤️❤️
Hey lovely! what brand is your computer? btw love your videos. !
What are good placement things for assistant nursing placements? Or same same?
Thank you so much!
Hey! Do you get a choice of where you do your grad program? How many grad positions/program does your uni offer?
Hey Bek, I have a Rehab placement in a few months is it like Med wards?
Hey - they’re similar, a bit more structured and the paper work is also a bit different but mostly the same conditions 😁
I started my grad program this week and I have my first supernumeray shift tomorrow! Watching this video made me feel like I was talking to a friend who was trying to help me ease my anxiety. Thank you for this :)
Rural placements are fantastic. Loved my rural placements and if you can secure then would absolutely recommend.
Thank you so much
Thanks for sharing this video. I'm curious where did you buy that black card holder? i saw one at officeworks but it doesn't look nice. :)
awesome stuff bek ...YES YES RFDS 💛 we need you guys n girls in the Australian out back its very much the appreciation the help you do in our awesome outback country of Australia 👍 .. big thumbs up 👍
They're an amazing organisation!!
Thank you so much for all the advice!! <3 So helpful and the way you talk is very calming haha XOXO
Thank you for your videos! I’m 2nd year RN out of 4 as part time last year - haven’t even done my aged care yet all theory, but I’m packing it! Luckily I work in a hospital so I know the wards and what to expect somewhat. Great content btw
You're welcome! I'm glad you find them useful!!
I’m petrified I start my grad in two weeks
Hope your first week went well!!
Hi Bek, i love ur vlobs... u r very calm and transparent person. A big thank u for all ur tips.. Today is my very first Nurse shift and i m nervous and scared. However, u helped me to calm down. I love u so much😀
Hey! Thankyou!! Hope your first day went well!!
I'm starting nursing school in 2022 and your videos put me at ease. I can't stress enough how much you've helped me prepare mentally
I tried to buy the pharmacology book but no one has it 😭😭😭 it's out of stock everywhere gah!
But thanks so much for the tips! 💕💕
I am so glad that nursing assist me get the residency, and now I can use the residency to achieve my dream to study in biochemistry area to become a pharmacologist. By the way, nursing is a bit boring as the core of nursing is caring! I recon nursing is more suitable for the very caring person!
👍💕💕💕
Missing your nursing videos 😃 How’s life as RN? What are you learning different from Uni? How managing motherhood with nursing career? hope all is going well 🥰
Nice video 👍 keep it up
This is cool !
I'm so curious how these things work. Like do nurses still need to study and have deadlines during their placements?
Oh my gosh! Absolutely intense!
When you come across this type of behaviour and misconduct you complain to the relevant governing bodies including a work ombudsman. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of unprofessional behaviour especially within the health sector.
The obsumen are a joke
