  • Hi Guys !! Thanks for your time on my TH-cam channel!
    Today in this video I am here to show my experience on #HpEnvy17 #laptop #cooling_fan replacing!
    I am not a super expert but what I would like to share is the real-time experience that’s why I don’t edit the video!
    On TH-cam most of the TH-camr, they edit the video before upload and in that way, they hide their mistakes what they did make on tutorials generally.
    This video will show you step by step how you can teardown your hp envy 17 laptop to replace not only the cooling fan but also other component examples HDD , speaker wifi card and so on!

    Hi, When in the middle of a big job processing many GBs of photos the last I needed was an over heating laptop. It got to a point where I was processing images for an hour or so, then shutting down the HP Envy to cool off and ten doing some more. We have a temperature tester that we use for COVID-19 checking and this also has an option for testing other temperature, the HP Envy was recorded with 45c just above the heat sync area.
    After finding your video and watching the process I ordered a new fan that arrived this morning, 4 days early. I installed the new fan after following your very detailed demonstration and it all worked perfectly. I did find the heater exchanger was completely blocked along with other vents and after spending some time cleaning off the dust and fluff it all look great. The HP Envy has now been running for around 3 hours and I can't hear a sound from the perfectly working fan. Brilliant thank you

    Thank you very much for your video upload. I have watched hundreds of videos but yours is the best. The video recording was great by your partner. Your video is very clear, good commentary, good visuals and you explained everything in excellent details. I appreciate your sharing. My Envy is running crazy especially when I installed Samsung 860 QVO SSD and used my original as data. The computer was running hot before but now it is running the fan more rapidly and temperature goes up to 42C. I will open up the back cover and clean the fan and vent plus see if the "sticky white paste for heat sing is dried or not. I have to buy one from some store. Normally it will cost $150.00 to get it done at repair shop but it is so easy I can do it after seeing your video. Thank you very much again. I liked your video and gave you a thumps up.

    @ 7:03, what chip is that? Mine too has a thermal above it connecting to the bottom cover chassis. I was wondering what thermal pad should I used it with and what size? Which areas can I add additional thermal pads? What tapes are used around the heat sink grill and fans? can I use vinyl electric tape instead of the Kapton tape?

    I've replaced the fan but haven't hooked up it's connector. I want to make sure I don't hook it up backwards and fry something. It doesn't look like there is anything that prevents you from hooking the connector wrong so do you know the pinouts?
    Thanks

    Thank you for your video, very understandable. I have same laptop HP envy 17 2014, can you help me to fix the broken left hinge, although I have seen other videos in this regard but not for the same laptop and how can I add another SSD hard drive with it's connection pl.

    • @Sc0pee
      @Sc0pee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a broken hinge on mine as well...Open the lid. Use strong epoxy glue on the inside casing (where the screw holes are under the hinge) . I used epoxy glue all over, on the top and under and on the sides ( just DONt put any glue on the inside of the hinge or otherwise it wont move!). Clamp the hinge to the case for 24 hrs and let the glue dry It should be a strong fix! Also dont forget to put some mechanical grease to the hinges when your done.

    • @thepcphone
      @thepcphone  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you very much for your comment against my videos. Fixing laptop hinges is a pretty tricky job as it depends on many things. sometimes not only the hinge is broken sometimes the screw base also dried out. In your case, if the hinges only have broken then change the left hinge. you can add secondary SSD if there is any M2 SSD slot otherwise not. in this case only one SSD you can replace with (2.5 INCH sata SSD)

    I have the same laptop and issue. The corner hinge is broken which a piece jammed the fan. How can i fix the hinge?

    • @thepcphone
      @thepcphone  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends based on which part is broken. The hinges? or the hinges base? If hinges then I would suggest you to replace it.

    • @cforrester2186
      @cforrester2186 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly the issue I have/had. It was telling me the cooling fan wasn’t operating properly. Used canned air, put old fan in & works fine. Of course I found the brass fitting the hinge screw goes into and chipped plastic inside. Right now, I temporarily haven’t tried to install that particular hinge screw. Ideas??? And SUBSCRIBED!

      I had this issue just now. Make sure the wide thin black wire that connects to the hard drive (05:49) is inserted inside correctly. I adjusted it and it works now. GL!

    Hp machines are absolute garbage. I don't have an envy, but we own two. Fans on both of them broke, the wireless card kicks me off the wifi, the keyboard is faulty, hp just sucks.
