A new Patriarch will grow from the strongest of the Genestealers. That is if the cult survives the culling that is no doubt taking place if a Patriarch is killed.
It is an evolutionary inevitability that, from time to time, a genestealer cult will come into being with no connection with the Tyranid hive mind. This fact allows players to create genestealer war groups that are not destroyed when encountering a Tyranid fleet.
I always thought a cult who viewed the tyranids as vengeful gods bringing ragnarok, and only they blessed with the genetics of their gods could inherit the galaxy after they bring the doom of all others and hide from their gods wrath.
In fact, in the Genestealer Cults codex, there was a story, where a forth generation hybrid, encounters his Purestrain 'son' and is shocked when the purestrain attacks him, all the purestrains in fact turning on and slaughtering the hybrid cultists as they are subsumed into the invading Tyranid swarm
Yeah, but they probably see this as a good thing. They’re all connected to the Hive Mind, so maybe upon death and consumption, they merge with it, allowing them to reincarnate as proper Tyranids.
They’re reminiscent of traditional Lovecraftian cults. They worship vile beings from the void, silently expand there influence though society, then await the arrival of there alien gods who really only view them food and minds to be assimilated.
Eh, not really. You have a good chance of simply getting a gruesome death from the Cults or Tyranids. The Dark Eldar on the other hand will appear from nowhere, take you and torture you in unimaginable ways for eternity. Chaos followers may turn you into a fragment of a living wall of flesh kept alive and screaming forever. If you're lucky.
Barry Bend they would create a jean stealing Genestealer. It is the ultimate lifeform and it would destory the multiverse. Only sadgron with the mime's spoons implanted in his head would only be able to defeat her.
I like the notion that the cult can't truly help its rebellious actions or its drawing of the hive fleets, in a horrific way. It, along with the remaining populace, will be - willingly or unwillingly - consumed by the hive. It makes their existence a tragic one indeed. I've heard that the fear of consumption may also drive cult members to flee their world and spread their infestation elsewhere... only for the hive to eventually follow them there as well. A useful if cruel method of enforcing the hive's desire to find new population centres and feed.
Devoured, even normal Tyranids get devoured after a planet is taken so cults would be no luckier. The only way a cult would survive is if they spread to other planets.
That would be old lore, I remember reading a year or two ago about how the cultists would prqctically throw themselves into digestion pools seeing it as ascension. The nids might not want their genes, but biomass is always wanted.
One scenario I wonder, for genestealer cults is "What happen if the first infected produce an offspring away from the Genestealer progenitor?" Say there is a genestealer (somehow) on a planet/space station/whatever, it skulk around and then infect its first human. However this human does not live there. Maybe he's a guardsman being redeployed. A crewmember of a navy vessel that's leaving. Hell maybe he's a low-level mostly unmodified mechanicus adept or anyone part of an organization that moves around the galaxy as they are redeployed. That person become infected but before they can even truly come under genestealer control they leave the place. Sure, on one hand its useful for Tyranids because it help spread their infection even further but...then what? The infected person has a kid with someone on another planet, who knows how many light years away. The resulting child is hybrid. If it survive and infect someone else, a cult can form but it will not have any purestrain stealer until the 5th generation. Should a makeshift, crude and limited cult form what happens? Does their firstborn purestrain Genestealer become their Patriarch? While there wouldn't really be much of a hivemind initially it is worth noting that infected human are still compelled to protect and raise their hybrid children.
If there isn't already, there should be a game where you fight waves of gene stealers and cultists. It could start you off as a PDF or Imperial Guard fighting in the initial defense, but you can eventually work up to stronger Astartis units (i.e. Space Marine up to Terminator) as the waves become more numerous and powerful. Each wave could end with a countdown of how long before the hive fleet arrives, with the final few waves just trying to fight the tyranids. I think it'd be a fun game, if implemented right

Trust me, in a place as big as the Imperium, nobody will notice a few hundred, or even a few thousand, missing people, especially if those people are low-class.
Can a stealer cult go rogue and turn against tyranids? Ive recently started putting a cult together, but i dont want to get dragged into doing tyranids, so im hoping my lot can be not on friendly terms with their nid overlords
I used to think that Genestealers were much harder to distinguish from the host species, and due to this difficulty, that thinking led me to believe that discovery of a single Genestealer warranted Exterminatus. This video has certainly put paid to that line of thinking. If this is correct, then a world infiltrated by a Genestealer cult has more of a chance to survive and avoid the attention of a Hive Fleet than I previously had imagined.
I feel that Genestealer cults are very underrated, they can provide stories very Lovecraft style in 40k universe If there arw books like that, please comment Thanks
We know that the hive fleets are competing with each other. So it is not unlikely that genestealers of different hives are trying to infiltrate the same planet by establishing a cult is it not?
Genestealer cults are a way to incorporate Lovecraftian, Cthulu mythos flavours into the universe. They await for the stars to be right and the hivefleet turning up is like Cthulu turning up and eating everything. There are cults to bring this about. The Genestealers and now Lictors have had the tentacle mouth influence modelled onto them throughout the years. It's also a take on The invasion of the Bodysnatchers theme. They look too unnatural though. Never really liked the idea. Genestealers were also a take on the Xenos from the Alien films, and shoving convoluted sentience into them seems un-nidish. But hey it's their lore and they will incorporate what they want.
There is. Their numbers are too small to contaminate anything in the planet, though, what with the hive gangs fighting them as if they are just another gang.
Well, in Hive Primus there are only a tiny number of them, but there was a major outbreak in another of the major hives on Necromunda, which resulted in the whole city being purged and placed on permanent quarantine
@@weldonwin Thanks for clarifying. I was talking about Hive Primus specifically, but didn't call it by name. Had no idea they were a major threat to other hive cities.
Hey now, I think the current POTUS is quite a bit more likely to carry “the taint”. Inexplicably rapid rise to power? Blatantly artificial hair? A rather disturbing amount of sex drive for a man his age? Aaaand an odd amount of “keeping it in the family”? The hive fleet’s on its way, methinks.
First generation genestealer look similar to there genestealer primarch why don't humans targets them on that period... Why they waiting for them to having their generations... It's makes no sense to me waiting for them growing into four or five generations to take over...

“Long Live Male Pattern Baldness!”
“Death to hair!”
Couldn't you just predict a cult uprising by an upswing in wig sales?
Can a stealer cult go rogue and turn against tyranids? Ive recently started putting a cult together, but i dont want to get dragged into doing tyranids, so im hoping my lot can be not on friendly terms with their nid overlords
@@the36lessons11 ah, i see. Thanks for that
I used to think that Genestealers were much harder to distinguish from the host species, and due to this difficulty, that thinking led me to believe that discovery of a single Genestealer warranted Exterminatus. This video has certainly put paid to that line of thinking. If this is correct, then a world infiltrated by a Genestealer cult has more of a chance to survive and avoid the attention of a Hive Fleet than I previously had imagined.
That was great as always, I have a question though: What happens to a cult when a Hive Fleet arrives?
They "ascend into the Light".
In other words, they join the meat mass like all other non tyrannids.
So the Patriarchs are just chefs for the Tyranids, preparing their meal.
I feel that Genestealer cults are very underrated, they can provide stories very Lovecraft style in 40k universe
If there arw books like that, please comment
Thanks
0:29 that tech priest wonder if the Emperor can be made of cyber-dongs
Wasn't there a Simpsons episode about this?
Wouldn't surprise me, Simpsons have done everything else
SIMPSON'S DID IT!!!
40K Theories this type of Tyranid seems like it was based on invasion of the pod people
What if a tyranid or genestealer gets ahold of the emperor's DNA?.....
The nids already do
@@RexOedipus. how?

Witch Hunter Tyrus out here sounding like Hitler lmao
Bet every cult member is called Levi after stealing all them jeans
Everybody gangsta till the bald guy starts preaching
What if Tyranids are attacking the galaxy, assimilating other species in a desperate attempt to develop hair growth?
Still they are Jeans Dealers, GW really should rename them into something less meme heavy :D
Like Geno-something, just something with less Jeans...
People will mock any name GW comes up with. Its the nature of humor.
We know that the hive fleets are competing with each other. So it is not unlikely that genestealers of different hives are trying to infiltrate the same planet by establishing a cult is it not?
We only have one example of hive fleets competing with each other, and we don't know why they did
how to beat genestealers: only have people with hair in power
7:00
Wait so they start off looking very tyranid and then gradually start looking more like their host species?
Yup
@@40KTheories So if one discovers them early, the planetary defense forces may have a chance in hell?
@@Tarik360 Yup :3

What is this tech priest with a dinosaur head ??
Yes
the moment you realize you hear the dies irae and youre such a nerd
So scary to me.
Is there a cult in necromonda?
Just Look at the news the cult is real.
*JEAN STEALERS*
So the host thinks the genestealers sexy after being charmed by its gaze then are kissed and give birth to genestealers
But Angela Merkel isn't bold?
nobody said they couldn't wear wigs
Keep a close eye on her and see if there are any hints of her third arm showing
Hey now, I think the current POTUS is quite a bit more likely to carry “the taint”. Inexplicably rapid rise to power? Blatantly artificial hair? A rather disturbing amount of sex drive for a man his age? Aaaand an odd amount of “keeping it in the family”?
The hive fleet’s on its way, methinks.
I definitely think that the tyranids would be the ultimate victors of the warhammer universe.
Honestly being in a genestealer cult would be rad
First generation genestealer look similar to there genestealer primarch why don't humans targets them on that period... Why they waiting for them to having their generations... It's makes no sense to me waiting for them growing into four or five generations to take over...
Ahh my least favorite faction :)
I like them too bad that they are basically just nids
in reality u would call genetealers j*******
Just a thought, what if they made a wh40k movie then use a Genestealer as the point of view?
Hmmmm. Nope. Too obvious. Not going THERE. Not here.
