Love the videos! Been using a lot of your tips and tricks for my mobile truck detailing set up. I was about to pull the trigger on the active 2 but thought things through and sticking with the ryobi. Having products locally stocked at home depot is a game changer since I can easily swap out if something breaks. Also has the warranty through home depot as well!

Thanks for the vid. As a home user and hopeless gearhead - the 2.0 is really neat. But these little suckers are so useful. I have a compact but also a big 2300/1.2 Ryobi with wheels. The compact is easier to use every time and just as effective for 99% of what I need. Love your hat, brother.

All hail the Ryobi for a growing business! You nailed some concerns we had early on about Active. We were going to use the highly available and less expensive Active 1st model the VE52 for a growing mobile fleet. Unfortunately it draws >13.3amps at full tilt which randomly forced our Predator 2000 circuit breaker to repeatedly pop especially when using the restriction of a foam cannon. It also wouldn't gravity feed without frequent loss of prime so it required a seperate pre-prime water pump and seperate 12v battery to keep up with the modified pressure washers high volume demand output. The combined additional cost of a VE52, a larger generator with 15-20amp circuit, a pre-prime water pump and 12v battery was double the expense per mobile vehicle. Maybe in the future someday it would be worth the expense but not good early thus far for us. So the VE52 unit is now a personal luxury at home where I have access to a 20amp breaker and high pressure water access from a home spigot.

Run as it should. I loved mine but I’m on my third warranty replaced one. Going to save up for AR next…that one is like butter and easily serviceable.

Lol Assume usage will lead to a 3rd under warranty in the near future. I really enjoy my VE52 purchase price for excellent gpm delivery.

AGREED! I detail around 60 cars a month in S. Florida. I've put over 200 hrs on my Cryobi 😅 it does the job better than many pricier units. no need to spend over 150$ on a to that will make you $. I mean this pays for itself in 20 minutes of use . Don't need a Kranzle except to just say you have one. it's like a Rolex. nice to have but unnecessary. spend your savings on a hose reel, 50 ft uberflex hose and swivel gun. now we're talking.

Bought the Ryobi 1800 psi at Home Depot. It was on sale and I paid 99.00 for the subtotal. It’s still probably on sale right now. Right off the bat, just get a foam cannon and modify the orifice with a 1.1 mm and it creates mega snow foam. Couldn’t have been any happier.
How do you modify the orifice for a foam cannon? I get using a different tip, but how can you affect what you get out of a cannon?

Thanks for the input. I am using the Ryobi and love it too. However I'm not satisfied with the foam output from my foam cannon (adams) and soap. Perhaps because I am using a longer hose (50' vs 20') and that is dropping my pressure. Will try the shorter hose and 1.1mm orifice in the snow cannon to see the results (1oz of mega suds to 31oz of warm water in the foam cannon).
Good comparison, You liked the Active 2.0 but for the money I agree the Ryobi is the best bet. I am not a professional detailer so I expect my Ryobi to last for years.
Absolutely and if you’re not a professional detailer, the active 2.0 should last year‘s too. But when you’re a professional and you’re doing multiple vehicles 5 to 6 days a week, you really wear down your products very quickly.

A Slick. I need your opinion man. I’m don’t own a detailing business in cars , but I find it very therapeutic and I love detailing my wife’s suv and my lifted truck. I only wash my cars at the house. My question to you is , what electric pressure washer should I go with to have a good/nice set up in my garage?.

I’ve been using my 1600 Ryobi for 3 years now, no problems here. I’ve definitely made my money. I got it on sale for like $60 I even got a back up new in a box that I also got on sale that I haven’t open totally worth it.. I don’t need no fancy pressure washer. I see it this way if it works for me I’m good, I’m not a monkey see monkey do guy. I’ve only been in the detailing game for 3 years with the same Ryobi I started with lolllll so no one is going to change my mind. I really enjoy your content SLICK keep doing your thing…

Thanks. My VE52 Just gave up the ghost. Just stopped working completely. Two years and one MONTH after purchase. I have contacted Active and they say there are no serviceable parts in the unit. And they are unable to replace it outside of the warrantee. I’m done with Active. I’ll be picking up the Ryobi I this week.
Sir, neither of these products are for you. All these portable and relatively affordable pressure washers are designed and advertised as unserviceable and disposable.

Are you gravity feeding the ryobi? I just found out that my set up is off for a gravity and they recommended I get the gen 1 active. I have a 125 gallon on a 2100 ryobi and the pw can’t keep up after it drops down around 30 gallons. So now I need to figure out a new solution.

Honestly they’re not different enough to compare in my opinion. Especially since my main point is reliability and the ve52 has a worse track record than the 2.0

I use the Ryobi, but mine started to leak only after only one month of use in my mobile van. Still using it though haha…I should probably buy another one 😅

And besides the price of the two units which would u say is better for detailing cars or do you recommend something else I just want to get the best unit I can for detailing
The performance of the active can’t be beat at that price point but unfortunately, they don’t have a great history as far as reliability yet. So, on performance alone, I would say get the active if you want good performance and reliability go with the Ryobi.
hello, I have a honda gas 2800 2.3 gpm, 4.0 or 4.5 tip gets me in the 1k psi... so that's good. I am looking to try electric, picked up the 1800 1.2 from hd for $100. pressure being equal with 2.5 tips. is the gpm why it feels like its not doing anything ?? foam, rinse, just the basics.. I like the start stop of the electric. would the active 2.0 be a better fit for me for personal residential use ?? or spend more time with the ryobi ?? (i use noise canceling headphones, so the gas doesn't bother me, but I am aware of it. (I didn't use the hose or anything with the ryobi , already purchased the good stuff a couple years ago) I do not have a dedicated circuit in the garage, they ryobi causes me no issue. any thoughts here would be great, thanks so much for the time.. Greatly appreciate your time and videos.

I like the Ryobi 1900 due to better storage of attachments but, again, it is more expensive
Honestly they should have stuck to the original active and fixed it fully and focused on making a professional active for us mobile Detailers especially since they keep selling out and fixing issues with the 2.0

I have a chance to buy a "good used" active 2.0 for $200 but I am unsure! I may order an AR blue clean through rural king and add the 2 year warranty though! I have 3 days to decide on the active. Any suggestions?? And thank you! I've asked forums with zero answers.
If you can buy an ar I would go that route because ar pressure washers are serviceable. They will outlast the active
@@StaySlick interesting! I was going towards that route. I wanted to buy a brand new AR blue at rural king and add a 2 or three year full replacement warranty for $25.
Also in addition I've read and been told over and over not to get warranty with an AR blue online because owner pays shipping for warranty issues. Not sure that is true.
Plus Amazon has a protection plan I could add as well!
@@StaySlick I have been leaning towards an AR blue due to reading issues and random issues with the active 2.0 and also the Older active models as well on long-term lift/ longevity. I read people have had the AR blue as long as 6 or 7 years.
Performance means nothing as a private owner if I only get 6 months to 1 year out of it.
Which nozzle/degree do you recommend while using the ryobi 1800 2.5or 40degree?
The degrees don’t matter that’s personal preference but the ryobi operates best when using a 2.5-3.0 orifice.

Ryobi is great but for $50 more you can get the AE52 with 1.8-1.9 GPM vs the 1.1

The Ryobi is currently $99 at Home Depot. That, an Uberflex, a mid-grade gun and foam cannon like a McKillan's and you have a complete setup for less than just the Active machine!

Mine quit after about a year I used it maybe a dozen times for small issues. mainly washing out the lawn mower deck. Total waste of money and oh yea home depot wont do a thing even though they say it has a 3 yr warranty.
I’m thinking of running a dual Ryobi setup at home and will get around 2.5 - 2.8 gpm. I have to figure out if there is a pre designed jumper hose setup available for low gpm. Most of them are designed for gas pressure washers pushing a lot more water

You just made my mind,I purchased the Ryobi today for $99 ,I used it very quick on my 2024 Z06 corvette today .
I like it,I also have a Yamaha 3500 PSI I got from Costco its too powerful for cars
That's why I want an electric one ,easy to move, however I don't like it doesn't have wheels .
I almost bought the activate 2.0.
$400 isn't worth for simply washing my car few times .
I also bought a Westinghouse px 3100 from same ,I haven't used it yet .
I am going to compare it to Ryobi .
I owned both, the Ryobi for three years and the Active 2.0 for almost a year now. The Ryobi is great with a 3.0 nozzle and very reliable. It worked as it should every single time.
When I received the Active 2.0 I was very disappointed because I couldn’t get it to work reliably. After messing with it for 20-30 minutes I would get frustrated and plug in the Ryobi.
I figured out the Active 2.0 does not like the Uber flex hose everyone is using. All issues were resolved after getting the MTM cobra jet hose. I have enough confidence with the 2.0 now I let go of the Ryobi. I gave it to my dad and loves it.
I’ve got the active 2.0 and Karcher Cube. The 2.0 is definitely more finicky. But more enjoyable to use and rinse is awesome with 4.5 nozzle. The cube feels more durable and is definitively less prone to surging. This comparison is a bit like comparing an older civic to a new rdx. Or anything that’s more performance vs reliability. It’s difficult to achieve both.
I'm looking into getting the active 2.0 with the Uberflex hose should I reconsider the hose?

I have both, and I'll never buy another ryobi. The Active is the best entry-level unit. I use a 3.5 Orphus all the way to 5.0 when I want to rinse the car down. Don't get me wrong by Ryobi is a good unit for $100 but you get what you pay for. There's a reason why the active 2.0 is always sold out it's because it's that good. I noticed when I use the Ryobi it takes me much longer to get the car washed and clean then it does with the active 2.0
Like I said in the video, I like both units, but I’m gonna have to definitely disagree with you. For example, I just now drove away from a maintenance detail and I got it done in exactly the same amount of time with my Ryobi unit as I did with my active 2.0. Also, the reason the active 2.0 is sold out yes because it’s still popular. It’s a hot item. It’s not because it’s the best entry-level unit. It hasn’t been out long enough to have that title. It doesn’t matter how good a product is if you can’t count on it on a daily basis. If I am washing my car is at my house. I am definitely using the active 2.0 but in a mobile setting it will always be my Ryobi. I appreciate your feedback though brother
Ryobi is Japanese..active is American. That should tell you which one will last longer and be more reliable
I’m not sure the point here but active is actually Canadian, made with Japanese/Korean parts and then Sold from the USA.

I can only recommend those 100 bucks to someone who's starting the car detailing business at least to me those are to water 🌹🌹💦🌹🌹 of course we shouldn't expect grater results from 100 bucks washer. Spend more jump the fence and get at least 2.5 or 2.8 GPM only because i haven't sern 3.0 on electric. 20 years detailing only Rv's.

@Stay Slick I have had it for 12 years and has never let me down and doing 6 to 8 units a day 6 days a week with 1000s of hours on it , on my other vans they are all ar blue units except my dirt or cold job unit which as a the Fortador steamer great for winter jobs and great for cleaning machine shops and other dirty jobs , but I do understand many people are just starting doing this where I have been doing this since 1987 , and my Father had been doing it way before I was born and left me the business when he was killed by a drunk driver ,honestly nothing is wrong with Ryobi what counts is the user and his or hers integrity and the luv for the job also never to put down some other detailer equipment as we all start out somewhere , and some have lots and others have little but we all need to help others out and if they need advice we should always do our best to help each other , after a worker has been with me for 3 months and wants to work hard I pay for them to go to a detailing academy .

I have several people working for me I am not a one person crew doing detailing, yes I do have a few mobil e vans but , 80 percent is done at the shop were I have several team members that do the work these days , I been lucky to get several contracts that bring in a steady flow of work. But this took me a very long time to get there and I feel so proud of these younger people stepping up and working in this industry to make a choice to be their own boss.

@@StaySlick I feel if you were able to go to a store and pick up the active 2.0 you would be replacing that every time or grabbing one of those instead of a Ryobi.
I feel like you only like the Ryobi more just because it’s cheap and available everywhere but that does not mean it’s better for getting the job done.
Also GPM on the 2.0 is extremely better than any electric Ryobi by far!! when you think about it, you spend $80 plus tax on the Ryobi but after three car washes you should have enough for an active whos quality is much higher!!
Ryobi is known for taking the same pump and using it in almost all of their models. They just put a new plastic cover over it and charge more money 💰 after a few tweaks to the unit.
@antnope3042 if it was possible to warranty an active at a store like a ryobi I would keep one around for my garage setup not mobile. Again like I said in the video every ryobi unit I’ve used has outlasted my active ve52 and my 2.0. When youre mobile reliability is more important than an extra half gallon a minute. I’ve had to warranty both my active units within 6 months. So again I still choose my ryobi unit everyday for mobile use because of reliability and because I can get more vehicles done. I hope that explains my position.

I resort to washing cars with a hose and foam blaster instead.

Do you have another video that’s all you swear up and down is that active 2.2 it is the best detailing machine and now you’re saying something else that it’s not worth it so what’s going on that’s why I do not trust the TH-camrs to advertise other peoples products.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
You’re definitely wise to not trust. Gary is one of the few that gives it to you straight up. Performance wise the active is the best value. Reliability for biz not so much. Yt is like one big infomercial. Keep being discerning. It’s a cesspool out there:)
OK first of all let me start with this I am nowhere big enough for the Home Depot ryobi to even bat an eyelash at me, so why would I be trying to sell a product that I don’t believe in if I’m not getting anything for it. Second of all, I never sell products that I don’t actually like. Also, when I made the video on the active 2.0 my business was in a different setting and I hadn’t had a lot of time to spend with it to get a 30,000 foot view. It doesn’t matter to me whether you believe me or not, but this is the truth. Like I said in the video, I will be using the active 2.0 at home because I have an unlimited amount of water. In a home workshop setting I would use the active to point out until it fell apart but when I’m mobile, I absolutely have to be sure that my unit is going to continue working. I can’t have my pressure washer. Go out on me when I have a vehicle covered in chemicals.
Nobody ever sent you sell products you review products as the same thing then you have viewers they go out and buy these products and they don’t work and I’m talking about all TH-camrs be doing that they do it for the money and for the lakes👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻🤝

Of course I make money on ad revenue but you could too if you were brave enough o make one and had something interesting to talk about. Also yes I get a small commission when people buy with my codes but me getting these codes also benefit my viewers by helping them save money.
